Why didn't you tell me that before!? :D
Trying to slowly remember the last time I was on here! I have honestly missed this place :D! So yeah birthday today; totally doesn't feel like it but ah well! Currently looking for a job, wouldn't mind going back to college, but I don't know if I want to. I don't know what course to do etc.

Happy Birthday Tannie. Shiv send some sunshine over here the weather is crap in Scotland.
On its way.. my boss has been asking me for weeks.. he is Scottish too
Wow, it's been several months since I've been on here. I've finished university, which I'm so pleased about. I did find 4 weeks' temporary work at the university library but I left in the last week. Being the constant target of sexual harassment and sexist remarks almost sent me over. My line manager also made several sexist comments to me which made me realise that even if I did complain, they wouldn't take me seriously. So I've been unemployed since the beginning of August.
I've been thinking about the future and what I want. I don't want a career in forensics for various reasons. Whilst I was looking for jobs I saw so many positions for nurses and I kept thinking "why didn't I do a useful degree?" I'm looking into going back to university to study nursing.
I'm also kinda seeing someone. He lives in Leicester and I live in Stoke so it's a bit difficult to see each other often. He's my friend's son (the guy that I live with). There's always been something between us but I kept resisting. I invited him over a few weeks ago and we got on really well. My friend, his father, asked what was happening and Lawrence said "I can only cook with what I've been given" which is ambiguous to say the least. A few days after he left, I text him and his reply wasn't what I expected. When Lawrence arrived last weekend it was really awkward for a bit. His dad and my best friend split up that evening too so things got even more weird when she left and her brother and his girlfriend stayed behind. We were all so stunned the awkwardness passed and we had a really good weekend.
I hope everyone is well and has had a great summer.
Congratulations on finishing uni, Abigail. :cheer:
I've noticed your absence and am glad to see you back. It sounds like your life is going well :)
Life isn't going bad. Ups and downs but that's life. I just wish I could find a job.

I even remember one summer when I bored and someone on here said maybe you'll get to 20,000 posts soon. Well Im still a long way off. I miss the good old days when Id be on here a lot posting away :p

Hello, I am back! If you all remember me - which I hope you all do, as I remember all of you :D. Missed a lot of you! Was trying to give up Soapboards, don't ask me why, just felt it was something I had to do. But lately I have been compelled to go on it for some reason, and tonight I read my emails and had a message off it, and just HAD to log back in.
I don't think I will be going anywhere any time soon again.
Anyway, for anyone who actually wants to know if anything has happened in the past year (haven't been on since 2nd December it seems hah), well..
Not much has happened. However I am now engaged to my lovely man :). Won't be any wedding any time soon, as we both need to save up first, and our first protocol is having enough money to actually find a place to move in with each other - I can't wait. So in love :).
Job is the same, same old seasonal job I had before :( and still with the pub on the weekends. Season is ending now though so need to find a new second job! Don't want to, but need to if I want to get moving/married!
Not much of a social life this year, due to working on Fri's and Sat's! And having a boyfriend/fiance is expensive stuff hah! Wouldn't change that bit for the world, but miss going out !! Deffo need a change for next year on that part!
Ermmmm not really much else. Nothing has changed! I'm still the same ole' person :D Ooo I saw David Guetta and Glee live this year!! VERY happy with them!!
I was proposed to in the most unromantic way!! But I shall leave that til I actually speak to some people here :p Don't want to give everything away!!
Chose the wrong day to come back really, as I shall be on tomorrow afternoon, but not in the evening, nor Saturday. So won't be here properly til Sunday evening.
Hope you all don't mind me being rude in leaving then deciding to come back :)
SORRY FOR LONG ESSAY HAHA !! xxxx
Welcome back, I have missed you :D And congratulations on being engaged, good luck with job, finding home and everything else xxx :)

Woo hoo :cheer::cheer::cheer: became officially registered in Germany today... Got a mail back today saying I am official

Offiziell willkommen in Deutschland :D
ok its official I CANNOT SEW! trying to put badges onto my camp blanket and failing miserable! keeping sewing the blanket together or sewing it to my trousers and the amount of times i have stabbed myself with the needle!
I blame my school! why did i never learn how to sew!
Rant over! its just very very very frustrating! and i have left it so long ive about 5 years worth of badges to go on there plus all the old brownie ones that i found whilst clearing y room upstairs!
On a more positive note i did have a very productive driving lesson this morning! things are definitley looking up on that front!
Feeling a bit lost.... I have come back to Ireland for a few days and feel a bit in no mans land.. Love German but it is still a bit to German for me not to see it as a foreign country (that will change when language improves) and I don't have a house here to do my thing so feel like I am a tourist here too.. but love been back in the office.. even if only for 2 days to say goodbye to everyone.. sad days ahead

Not much if I'm honest... work work and work. I'm not complaining though, it keeps me sane in a weird way, pays the bills, pays for some aspect of a social life when I have time off and saves me from boredom, there isn't a dull day at work, just very long hours haha.
Currently waiting for the open days to begin for College so I can go back and get some sort of teaching course under my belt.
I am also totally loved up, thought it would never happen but it did :) we work together (pretty sure I may have mentioned him before... in previous posts) and it will be 6 months on 6th November... I can't believe how fast it's gone :) but the last 6 months have most definately been the happiest 6 months ever. So so in love :)
I've pretty much moved in with him and his family, it's weird, good weird... but I do find it awkward on my own family because I feel like they feel as though I've just abandoned them, and I'm currently trying so hard to find a balance which will allow me to spend equal time with everyone. I'm just set on saving up for my own place now, that way everyone can come around, and I will get to see everyone :)
Apart from that, not much has gone on, I think being in a relationship has been eventful enough for me as it is, I have no room for other excitements because this one is by far the biggest to take in haha.
After all that writing... I cannot believe how good it feels to just get loads off my chest, I love you SB's!!

You know Perdy it will be a challenge but she's only 13 and she needs an adult to take her. So with a heavy heart I am putting her needs before mine, and forcing myself to go. (Am I sounding convincing enough :D). I bought his CD today along with Pop party and a halloween party CD and if I've heard "Run for your life" once I've heard it 20 times, but he's still a hottie. I have 2 request if anyone involved in the Matt Cardle tour who posts on here. 1 he wears the hat. 2 he sings the Roberta Flack song. I can't wait to see her face on Christmas morning, also bought her Rhianna and Tulisa perfume today.
If you are too busy I can go with her....

I broke my phone whilst out the other night, so now my only source of communication is Phils phone or my Nans old run down very slooooooow computer, I have no car, no phone and no laptop, all are poorly bad haha.
Didn't sleep very well at all last night, this week off hasn't really got off to a good start.
Was tossing and turning, feeeling sick. I've been feeling like it for a while, but Thursday it really started to flare up.
I feel sicky, but not like I'm going to be sick, just feeling dodgy, and it's burning me, I keep getting a huge shooting pain in the bottom right of my tummy and I'll be freezing and then boiling all of a sudden, I thought it may have passed by now but it's just carrying on, and I don't want to go to the doctors in case they say it's just a bug, like I initially thought, because doctors don't like you going to a surgery if you have sickness.. I just want to be better now.
Should get my car back today though, fingers crossed! Feels like I've been missing a limb the last week or so!
Go to the Drs Kirsty, I had your symptoms a few years ago and ended up in hospital as I had appendicitus. I'm not saying that's what you have but best to be safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon.

Kirsty, if any symptoms have not gone within 24 hours, you should always seek medical help, even if it is just a phone call to your doctor's surgery. I agree with tuareet, please see a doctor, even if it is just a bug, doctors are happy to advise rather than seeing patients end up in A&E xxx

I'll be honest, it's what I've been fearing all week, and you're the 2nd person to have said that to me now, it has eased up a little today, but not much, so I will go to the Doctors tomorrow, thankyou for your advice both!
Hi Kirsty, if you can go to the Drs today. I had your symptons for quite a few days before I went to the Drs, on the day I went I felt a lot better but actually wasn't and my Dr wouldn't let me leave the surgery until she had arranged for me to go straight to hospital and I ended up having emergency surgery that night. Fingers crossed you will be fine but best to be on the safe side. Good Luck.

Christmas is definately playing on my mind, up at this hour writing out a list and searching for what to buy people! I am alot more organised than I ever have been for Christmas though!
Went to the Doctors, she said it seems like this tummy bug is just lingering with me, but I have to keep an eye on the pain, if it becomes more localised or whatever, then I have to go straight to the hospital, and sods law... it is killing me today. Some sleep in a bit before I venture out Christmas shopping :) fun fun funnnnn. I feel like I have wasted this WHOLE week off work :(
Hi Kirsty, how are you feeling now?
Kirsty :]
10-11-2011, 18:47
Hiya Tuareet, I'm feeling a tad better, my tummy is aching more than anything now, the pain is still there, but not as often, however the pain has also moved to the otherside of my tummy, and it feels higher up, I just cannot get any control of my body haha.
Both sides of my tummy feel tender and I still feel very sicky in the morning and if I smoke (which isn;t so bad because it's helping me to give up) Yesterday it felt like someone had given me a good few jabs in my ribs, and I constantly feel so bloated and urgh, it's starting to get me down, social wise because I don't want to go out or do anything because I feel so frumpy and bleugh, I have no idea what it could be, but appendicitis has definately left my mind.... Thankyou for asking :)
You should go back to doctor, Kirsty, not normal to still feel the way you do this long after a tummy bug. Get it checked, please xxx

Well done on your promotion Alan. You truly deserve it. I've had a bit of an emotional week. Many of you will remember last year I told you about one of my nephew's who I hadn't seen since he was a kid was suffering from bowel cancer, well guess what the fecking cancer won and he passed away last Friday at the grand young age of 29. My brother is devasted because he tried to see his son last year, but Iain that's both my brother and nephew's name said that he didn't want to see his Dad as he hasn't seen him for years so my brother respected his wishes. But now he's gone. The funeral is on Tuesday and my brother is going as he says he was there when he came into the world he will be there when he leaves. I know I haven't seen Iain for years but it doesn't make the pain any less.
I am very sorry, Kath xxx

I did figure out the top in the end, buttons went at that back. Had a great night out at the irish centre in manchester.

Kath so sorry to hear about your nephew. Your brother should respect the families wishes.
It's been a while since I was last here. Lots of things have happened.
I moved out of my friend's place because he got funny about me sleeping with his son. I'm now living with my sister but hoping to move back to Stoke soon. It's slightly complicated by me kissing my friendd at the weekend when I went back. Earlier in the evening he said he wanted to make a go of things. I said I'd consider it; when everybody left we were in my old bedroom making the bed and it just happened. I have no self-control. It really isn't going to work, I'm going to let him know this evening although I don't know what I'm going to say. "I fancy your son more than you" is perhaps not the right thing to say. He only split up with my best friend on Thursday.
I'm still unemployed, although the chance of me finding a job in this area is remote seeing as I live in the middle of nowhere on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border. I'm sick of hearing chinooks and seeing fields rather than being in the pub seeing friends.
I am applying for a nursing course back in Stoke, I just need to finish my personal statement and send it off. I forgot how hard it was the first time round to write it.
I hope everyone is well. I'm sorry to hear about your nephew Kath. I hope there wasn't a scene at the funeral by his dad turning up.

my brother went to the funeral yesterday and as far as I know from my sister there wasn't a scene. The funeral was at a cremototium on the otherside of town, but the wake was at a bowling club near were we live. My sister phoned my brother's partner last night at tea-time and she said he wasn't home yet so we think everythinkg went fine thank goodness.

Exams over :D Now just to finish off/edit two essays.
Got put back on the car insurance for my birthday. I am so rusty I feel like a learner again.
Well done Kim! Bet you are glad your exams are over
Got another interview today, for a different firm this time. Im really hoping that the many interviews that i have had will help with the technique of this one!
good luck Katy.. I am still just applying and getting rejection emails
Didnt get it but still trying!! Its so frustrating shiv
Had a really good band rehersal tonight. really need to work on my stamina, as im really tired now.
So had a better day driving today... the instructor said I was an animal.. normally people will stop and look when they are scared, animals run.. that is what apparently I do.. I hit the gas hahahahahaha.
Had a promise of a job which I could do and got a lot of interest, asking for documents and information and I find out today that it is like 3 hours drive away from my house so have had to turn it down.. hopefully the company (who I have to say did advertise jobs in my area) will have another position of me.. so proud of myself cause I wrote the application in German with help from my dictionary and translator and they understood it all... things hopefully with get better... just so annoyed that the jobs is either too far away or my german is not good enough.. oh well, onwards and upwards!!
Did a three mile run yesterday and had a great band rehersal. Feeling tired today though. Its a rest day. Im training for the Manchester Run in May which im doing for the Christie hospital, but really want to work at it and get my fitness up and not just do the 10K but do it in a reasonable time.
Got myself a touch of food poisoning on Wednesday, very poorly on Thursday and Friday, ok again today and 4 kilos lighter, but not ideal way to go about it

I'm in pain. I pulled a muscle in the bottom of my back on Thursday when I was squating at boxercise class. The pain has now moved to a sciatic nerve in my left bum cheek and down my left leg. I have used some muscle gel and those Voltarol pain killers but it's not cleared up yet.
Poor you!!! Voltarol are pretty strong.

Yeah I took a couple about 4pm then again about 1/2 an hour ago the pain is easing a bit just my left calf is sore. It's my own fault no pain no gain they say when exercising.

As some of you know I do a bit of Family History research - I'm still trying to live down the fact that I am related to Barbara Windsor. However, talking of Windsor, my research has just led me to the discovery that I am, in fact, related to H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. She is, wait for it...:
The niece of the wife of my third cousin twice removed's husband of the wife of the great grandson of the wife of my first cousin five times removed.
So, pretty darn close if you ask me. I must be only about several millionth in line to the throne. If you're all very nice to me I'll put in a good word for you and see if I can get you all a knighthood or a damehood...or at least an invitation to a garden party..... :)

Wow what a busy bunch you have been. Shiv well done almost there I'm sure the job will be yours. Katy keep at it I'm sure you'll secure a job soon. As for Sir Parkerman I'm not sure if your claim to the Royal family is validated but I will take your word for it. Any chance of a job as a lowly servant maid if you ever claim the throne :D

If by some very strange chance that whole royal family is wiped out Sir Parkerman might make it to the throne, he probably has a quicker chance of getting there than Charlie has hahahahahhaha

Yay well done Shiv and double money too fantastic. I haven't been around as much as work is just so busy at the moment. Anyway last week I booked a holiday in Gran Canaria in July for Marley and I. We haven't been abroad for six years. It's costing me and arm, a leg and a couple or organs as well but who cares. Marley will come back as black as the ace of spades and I will look like a freshly boiled lobster. :D Did you all see Kiefer on Jonathan Ross last night? How sexy was the man looking? :wub;
Congrats Katy and Siobhan :)

Guess were I was last night? In Glasgow seeing the wonderful, Sexy Matt Cardle. Oh what a night he was fab. After the show we went round the back of the concert hall to try and catch him coming out. There was about 100 of us waiting after about 15 mins he came out and came over to say hi (AAAAHHHHH) Marley got a kiss and a hug and he signed her tiicket and hand. I touched his face and and his hair. Oh Man was he stunning,

Next time.. kidnap him.... don't care how many other women are around.. they are all having the same thoughts..

I had a fabulous day yesterday. But first a bit of background.
I have been, ever since I can remember, a devoted Gilbert & Sullivan fan. My dad was fanatic about them and right from when I was born the only records I can remember being played in the house were Gilbert & Sullivan operas. I first went to see the D'Oyly Carte performing G&S live in the theatre at the age of 4 and from then on I became as fanatic as my dad. Culminating I suppose in the early 1970s when I used to go and see as many operas as I could during the D'Oyly Carte's London season. One year, I can't quite remember which, but some time between 1971 and 1974 I went to see at least one performance of every opera they performed, that was 11 in all. Afterwards I wrote to D'Oyly Carte with a critique of each performance. Looking back on it it must have seemed a bit pretentious to the company for a 23 or 4 year old (or thereabouts) to write with a criticism of their performance. Anyway, the only thing I can now remember about my letter was that I finished it by saying something to the effect that I thought I was falling in love with Pamela Field, who was the principal soprano and stunningly attractive. By the mid-70s however my devotion took a back seat as family life got in the way though i still managed to get along occasionally until sadly the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company folded in 1982.
Anyway, fast forward to yesterday. My cousin, who is a member of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, invited me along to one of their meetings which was supposed to be a tribute to Patricia Leonard, Sir Charles MacKerras and John Fryatt, all of whom had died in the last year or so and had been involved with G&S and the D'Oyly Carte in one way or another. What I was not expecting to see until I arrived was a number of the principal artistes from the 1960s and 70s who I had only ever seen on the stage before, 40 or 50 years ago. I won't go into who was there as the names probably won't mean much to anyone else reading this but one of the people there yesterday shone out. It was none other than Pamela Field herself. She must now be in her 60s but still looked as fabulous as ever. During the interval I spoke to her and told her my story about the letter. And she gave me a big hug.
Who would have thought, back in the 1970s, that 40 years on this object of my youthful love and admiration from afar would give me a hug...

Hope you have a very good one and that next week is much better :)
Nightmare with the driving.. was suppose to do my theory test on Wednesday.. plucked up courage to ask my new boss for 2 hours off and head to the center only to realise my name is not there!!! Was then asked by my instructor if I had sent letters to the center, which i hadn't.. What he had failed to tell me is that before I can sit the theory test I had to go to my local registration office with a passport photo, first aid cert and eye test and they book it for me.. so now I have to wait another 2 - 3 weeks before I can do theory test which probably means another month before I can take driving test.. so mad!!!

Man I have been so busy at work I haven't had time to come on SB. Really need to priorities my workload :D Anyway not much been happening. News from work is that the college I work for is merging with two other colleges in the city in October. There has been a voluntary severance package offered to all staff over the three college to cut staff. My college is to loose 69 members of staff before the end of August. I spent most of last Thursday in tears as I know a lot of them who are leaving. My AP (Associate Principal is leaving and I am gutted as she has been a tower of support to me. I was sending her an email on Thursday afternoon to tell her how shocked and devastated I was and I had to stop every couple of sentences so I could have a bubble. (What a Sap). Now we're all in a panic about the outbreak of legionnaires disease I live near were they think the source is coming from and it's all everyone is talking about.
Really great night.. went to a pub to watch the match and have to say the atomsphere was brilliant.. nice to be in a place where a team is winning!!

Yep Uni finished.
Although my degree was in animal behaviour I could never be a vet, requires a different degree and a lot more study. I do have interest in Zoos but more and more as I looked at things I was becoming more interest in positions of education officers in zoos or conservation and my job is for 2 years and the PGCE may give me more options

Got us old rockers going that's for sure! Even better, they're coming back on 3 March next year when they will be on the same bill as The Tremeloes, The Ivy League and Union Gap. Should be a great night.

It has been ages, hasn't it? I'm also lurking in the shadows! I also just finished uni, will be going back to do a Masters next year though. I'm having a bit of a break for now - my day is made up of reading, knitting and on occasion some geocaching :)
Wow what are you doing a masters in?

Exciting day round here. A gunman has just shot and killed someone about 2 minutes from where I live. My next door neighbour was coming back from picking up her kids at school when it all happened. A car roared away from the scene and ran into her car but just drove off. There's police everywhere at the moment. Nearby roads are closed off; helicopters flying around and dozens of police cars. More here:http://www.gazette-news.co.uk/news/local/harwich/9806787.UPDATE__Gunman_on_run_after_man_shot_dead_ in_Clacton/?ref=rss

I was out at the time and when I came back the road was blocked off so I had to take a detour. The police advised everyone to stay indoors but no-one took any notice. There were hundreds of people out on the streets hanging around trying to see what was going on. It calmed down after a few hours but the helicopters were flying around for ages afterwards. They still haven't found the gunman.

Just seen it on the news, hope they find him soon. Do you know the gunman? They are saying he is local

No, I don't know him. They say he comes from Clacton but has spent a lot of time in Chelmsford.

Just taken my son to work. The road is still blocked off with lots of police and TV crews!
Apparently though the gun man is in Writtle, a small village near Chelmsford about 30 miles away.

Just spoken to my neighbour. She was at the police station from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. last night. She is very relieved the gunman is dead as she won't have to go to court now.

The roads round about are still blocked off which is a problem as it is where our doctor's surgery is and my wife needs a prescription fairly urgently.

Well right now I am in a hotel room in Galveston, Texas, trying to stop procrastination and get on with writing an essay on Medusa :)
I am still working full-time, doing a part-time classics degree with the OU and so busy that I rarely watch TV let alone post on Soapboards, but I lurk every now and again :D
