Well done. I bet your mum was proud. I could'nt help crying at my daughters graduation this week
Aww...that's lovely. Well done to your daughter! http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/dancing/smileys-dancing-176278.gif (http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/)
A man broke into my 91 year old neighbours house last noght pushing her into the ground and he went into her living took her handbag and ran out.
He had pretended to be a police officer. She was lying down for an hour before police were called. Her handbag had her mothers engagement ring in it and a book with all her contacts etc. i had to cancel her card as police and ambulance saod they are not allowed to. She has been living in this house since she was 7 years old. With her injuries she cannot walk so they had to take her to the hospital. Her bathroom is upstairs and she cannot get upstairs now.

I am so sorry about your neighbour, why are there so many scumbags around going thieving and hurting other people, I just don´t get it. I hope they catch whoever did this but that is probably unlikely.
I hope your neighbour makes a speedy recovery but she might not want to move back into the house now :(
I can't focus at work feel very tearful at my desk. still in shock. Plus two Eastern European men came into my back garden at 6.30am in the morning ransacking a black bin bag i left overnight. I had a bag of clothes and they were scattered around my garden. I thought it was a fox until my neighbour said it was people. They were talking loudly without a care in the world. They would have had to come over other gardens to get to mine.

Thats really really terrible. Once someones
peace of mind has been destroyed it takes
a lot to recover. If she wants to return there
I hope the house can be adapted -if at all
possible.
Creatures who do.things like thst cant be
called human!!
Your neighbour must be strong - willed to
have lived to such a good age on her own.
I do hope she can recover.
She is very lucky to have you as a neighbour
- and Im sure she knows that.!!

I'm sorry to hear you and your neighbour are having such a terrible day Swmc66. :(
I hope you'll feel better after a night's sleep. What happened to your neighbour, and realising there were men in your garden, must have been extremely stressful - so take care of yourself. http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/embrace-hug/smileys-embrace-hug-774146.gif (http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/)
Thank you everyone I came home early as was so tired was falling asleep at work. Everyone is shocked on our street by what happened and police have been door knocking all morning to try and catch whoever did this. My husband thinks its the people who came in my back garden he thinks they came to annoy me as i was in and out of her house with the police until early hours. He thinks they were watching the house. I am worried they have her keys and could come back. None of our neighbours came out despite there being two police cars and two ambulances until 2am and lots of disturbance. I think we live in a fearful society

Thanks for letting us know your neighbour's out of hospital. I hope she isn't scared to be home after her awful ordeal. I don't see how she could not be though. :(
How are you feeling now?
Got put on the cancer pathway for the second time in months. They tried to give me the same consultant that told me I had an imaginary illness in 2008 when i had thyroid cancer. So instead of a two week fast tracking thing i have a month wait. I have been ignoring a lump in my neck for months as I have had one health scare after another and i could'nt face it. I managed to face it the next day after my daughters graduation as i felt so happy. So next week i will have my appointments and know. My health has been up and down after my NHS whistleblowing. Whats strange is people saying I have never looked better ( i am making more of an effort somehow). On top of that the NHS are pulling a second contract from me as punishment for whistleblowing but i cannot do anything about it as they are saying they are 'remodelling' their services. So they will get away with that one. Just worried about some members of my team now andof course myself if this carries on. On a good note my 16 year old is going on National Citizen Service next week so i have enjoyed getting him ready for that. Left work early yesterday and just focused on my son.

I hope your consultant's more supportive this time. I've had experience of dismissive doctors so I know how awful that feels. At least our family's bringing you lots of happiness at the moment, but MaidMarian's right that you need to put yourself first for once.

Sorry for lack of posting... was away for a week in south of France.. Beautiful place but they haven't a clue how to drive. Very long car journey (15 hours). Went through Switzerland and as the tunnel was blocked, took a trip over the alps... Hard getting up there but the drive down was worth it. Very expensive on tolls in Swiss, Italy and France. Guess I am just blessed we don't have that in Germany. For a country I would generally associate with snow, Switzerland was up to 42 degrees. Of course the Italians built their toll booth at the end of a very long tunnel so was sitting in that for over an hour and outside got up to 50 degrees as there is no air conditioning in the tunnel. Over all it was amazing. Got to do a lap of the Monaco race track which was a big dream of mine. Cannes is stunning. St. Tropez is lovely too but was expecting it to be more glamorous. Of course come back to a wet germany for the next few days but it doesn't matter.. I am finally home where driving the roads are free and the people are a lot more disciplined.

Sad news, The Emmerdale actress Kitty McGeever, who played character Lizzie Lakely, has died, aged 48. She was the first blind actress to be cast as a regular in a UK soap. Passed away 2 days ago, I think she left Emmerdale because of ill health R.I.P.

That is sad. Just one year younger than me.
I feel so happy today as i have managed to get in contact with 2 friends from high school in Manchester. It is amazing how much they remember from our school days. Now I am remembering so much as well. One made me laugh as she said i was swinging off the poles on the 53 bus and then saw that my mum and dad were driving behind the bus. She remembers me being mortified! I got into trouble when i got home.

Nervous, scared and excited.. it is a strange combination... One of the guys in work got fired on Tuesday.. there was no warning. He was called into the office and 10 mins later was told to switch of this machine and leave. He is on probation but he didn't do anything wrong. Rumors are that the company is not making money so the probation people are been let go.. Thankfully I have my probation long finished but if it gets that bad we could all be out of a job.
However, the excitement comes from my little hobby. Recently took up learning web design and a friend of mine asked me to make a homepage for his company. He is here tomorrow to see it so have to finish it up. Personally I am super happy with it (only doing this a month now) but I am nervous that he might not like it. Will let you know tomorrow how I go on. Fingers crossed that one day I will be able to give you a link to the website I created...
Good luck for tomorrow but I am sure you don´t need it, you would not have been asked to design if he did not have faith in your talents :) Hope it does not come to redundancies and that you will not be out of a job :)

In a space of three weeks i have had a car accident and yesterday my husband had one. For the first time ever i bought a brand new car in April . I was in south end on sea in august and i just opened my car door to get in and someone just missed me and hit the car door. My husband dropped off my daughter to work and a white van pulled out of a side road onto the main rd . I worry every time i get in a car now.

I second this. I narrowly avoided a domino crash a while back. Double decker bus pulled out on me when I was going around a roundabout. I had to slam my brakes on as did the person behind me. Terrifyingly close to Nissan Micra vs side of bus. Now I don't trust other drivers an inch and hang back rather than driving up alongside large vehicles. An actual crash can only be worse. Take care.
So many more lunatics on the road these days (and I've only been driving 6 years!)

Sorry to hear about your accident and hope you are ok. My boyfriend had a spin in my car when I was only 1 week driving and for months after I was terrified about going around corners in case the backend went out again. I took me a lot of trying and persistence to get my confidence back but I am fine now..
They say the best way to get over falling off a horse is to get back on it .. guess it is the same with driving after a car accident - you need to get back behind the wheel as soon as possible, maybe take a partner/friend with you at first for a few times. :)
Thanks everyone. I made myself drive a lot today and feel a bit more confident x

This country is a shambles. So they're quite happy spending millions in foreign aid when we are running a deficit, talking about accepting x migrants, yet they're trying to split families up like this. He clearly pays his way in the UK
Thanks you. What gets him is that he came here when he was two months old and i was born a year later in the UK....this means if he has a kid abroad its difficult to get a british passport for the child, if i had a kid abroad it would be no problem. So his british passport has less worth than mine. We did not know that there was a difference...they look the same and should be the same. My brother is very british in his ways and is in shock about all of this. He tried to have Warda born here but the home office had a problem with his Syrian wife. Even when we told them she was a Christian. Her village still speak the language Jesus used to. My brother gets a private medical package so the birth would not have cost the nhs. Lets hope the home office take note.
Are your parents british? If yes, then this should not be a problem. My son was born in Ireland and his dad is German. According to both laws my son is Irish and German (Law states regardless of where a child is born as long as the parent is from Ireland(Germany) that child is Irish(German)). My friend has a problem.. He is german and his wife dutch but both his kids were born in Ireland... His kids will be recognized as either Dutch or German but not Irish because of above law.
My parents were both born in Pakistan. My mother came here in 1965 when she was 19 and her first ever passport was British. My sister was 3 years old and brother 2 months old when she came to the UK. My dad had been here from the 50's and had a British passport. I was born in 1966 a year later. Then 6 years later my little brother was born. So two of us were born in the UK. Everyone in my family has a British passport. Its something about British by descent that devalues one British passport to another.
Good luck to you and your family, swmc66. I really, really hope Warda and her parents will be able to come home to the UK very soon. :)
She got her nationality but they sent the papers to wrong address so it is going to take a further 6 weeks to issue another nationality document. They previously lost all my brothers original documents so my address is now the postal address. But they forgot that. But good news she has been accepted as a british national and wont be stateless for long.

On way back i missed my turn and thinking i was going round a roundabout i ended up in terminal 2 going up a lane that said authorised vehicles only and something about valet parking....which did not make sense. Not good and probably going to get a hefty fine after paying £17 for parking in terminal 3!
My niece Wards got her british passport today after 9 mnths so no longer stateless and can access medical care

Boo hoo my beautiful 2ft fibre optic Christmas tree died tonight....I think the motor gave up on it. Mind you, it was 14 years old = so it had some good innings.
RIP my beautiful tree. My side table already looks so empty without it.
Here is my gorgeous tree when it was fit and well LOL

Why can you not just go in somewhere and buy what you ask for any more? Always trying to upsell you. Does my head in; I almost had an argument with a girl this morning. She was like a dog with a bone.
Might manage the tree later, 1 day earlier than last year!

It's my granddaughter Indigo's first birthday today! I thought some of you might be interested to see how she's grown since I posted her baby pictures.
I took these at a family get together yesterday:

Unfortunately, my pictures don't do her justice. She's an absolute delight who's always smiling and laughing, especially when there's animals around. Her parents took her to a farm of some kind today to see lots of animals. She calls all animals "dada" (meaning "doggie"). :D

They're in the process of getting a rescued cat from a charity, so she's going to be in absolute heaven soon.

Not quite my day today, but a couple of days ago as we had a fabulous night at my theatre (the West Cliff, Clacton) on Sunday with Rick Wakeman. It goes without saying his piano playing was just simply brilliant. I especially liked his nursery rhymes in the style of....Mozart (Wolfgang), Ravel (Maurice), Debussy (Claude) and Dawson (Les). Also Eleanor Rigby in the style of Prokofiev. But of course there was much much more from rock to classics. His stories and anecdotes were also very funny - not a bad impression of Brian Blessed too! - and the whole stage show magnificent, well deserving the sustained ovation at the end.
He then stayed behind for almost an hour chatting, signing autographs and having his photo taken. A really genuinely nice man.
You can come again any time you like, Rick!

This week has been very eventful using emergency services. My 16 year old son was in such a bad way the paramedics came to our house...ten minutes after i called. They were brilliant. Then yesterday i was just opening my bedroom door and the lock got jammed. I have been moaning about the door handle for weeks and its one of those things my husband had not got round to. His friend measured it for a new lock etc the day before. Anyway my kids were all trying to get me out without any success. Its when they mentioned an axe i said call the fire brigade. They were reluctant but i said they get cats out of trees etc Then 5 firemen turned up after another 10 mins. It took them another 30 mins and i was free at last.
Now i have no door handle or lock and the door does not close. I am not saying anything bad to my husband who conveniently was in a council meeting throughout the whole thing. Its our silver anniversary tomorrow

Wow, your week has been eventful!
I hope your son's OK now. :)
I've had the same thing happen with two door handles in my house. Luckily, I haven't personally been trapped, but my daughter was! I live in a rented home so my landlord got someone out within a couple of hours to rescue her. The door was completely impossible to open without taking the frame off. I sometimes fear it happening again and being trapped for days because I live alone now.
I hope you've recovered from the shock. :)
Happy anniversary for tomorrow! :cheer:
What a mad week you had swmc66... hopefully this one is better :-)
I just started a distance learning course in Web Development.. it is all in German so I am very scared that I might not get it all.. So far so good.. I read my course work for the day in German a few times and underline some words I don't understand.. then I go to google translate to get the gist of what the pages are about. As it is just the beginning it has been fine so far but I have a feeling it will get harder as the time goes on. It is over 12 months and they recommend an hour a day.. The booklet is 90 pages for the month, so I am tackling 5 pages a day with revision on a Sunday... hopefully leaves me a week at the end of the month to do the homework.

I might be interested in doing something similar myself in the future. Have you got any advice on what qualifications and/or accreditations to go for?
You are very determined so i believe you will succeed with the approach you are taking. Google translate is amazing
Got my new locks on today Dazzle its more common than i thought this issue. Thank goodness i was only locked in for a short while unlike your daughter.
On another note i will see my niece for the first time on 1st April...the one that could not get a passport for 9 months then they lost all my brothers original documentation etc. Anyway a few weeks ago the home office found all the original documents and he has them now.

This course starts you off at complete beginner so it is really easy to follow. I am currently a javascript programmer at work, but it was self learned and not very structured. I would highly recommend doing HTML&CSS and Javascript course on Code Academy. They are brilliant for a complete beginner.
If you are not excited about doing programming, I suggest doing a Web Design course.

I am interested in programming and did some at university many years ago (I can't remember any of it now though), so I'll do as you recommend and have a look at Code Academy.
Thanks! :)

I was the same.. it was 14 years since I left uni when I started doing Javascript.. I prefer this type of programming than Java or C++

I think it could be time for a career change, I am really hating my part time job lately, new staff who just have no respect or interest in doing tasks properly
I know I do things in a particular way and may have a slight touch of ocd but trying to accommodate and reason with them isn't working
I feel now like an old horse who needs to be put out to pasture :(

I am sorry you feel the way you do, nothing worse than not having job satisfaction, I think ... Can you talk to management about new staff`´s attitude? Do you have any assistance¿? I hope you can sort things out without having to look for a new job

aww Tammy, I hope you can speak to management and maybe get management to reorganise a bit in your setup if you think it is needed. xx
They are not gearing up the young people for work these days. When i have them joining me i have to invest a lot of time developing them as noone seems to have given them the skills for working environments. I mean i had to tell one the other day to take the chewing gum out of her mouth as it made her look unprofessional in a meeting where she was representing our company. When i asked if she had gum in her mouth...she rushed off to get me some! Thats just one of a long list of things. Its exhausting but we know they have been brought up in a totally different world from us. I would not want their upbringing i am assuming new staff are young but i may be wrong here.

Yes they are and I don't want to sound racist but some haven't got English as a first language either
As long as they are competant in speaking english and writing it I am ok with that even if it is their second language. I am just getting used to a staff member who has severe dyslexia its opened my eyes a lot about it. Its amazing how people manage.

Thats awful. When i went to see my 78 neighbour at the hospital i came back to pick some of her stuff and her back door was smashed in and strangely enough boarded up. I took a picture of it and asked her what happened to her door. She was shocked. It later turned out her friend panicked and called the police the ambulance the lot. They smashed into her house to find she was not there. She went through insurance and got another door but was very angry at her friend

At least your absence was noticed I suppose. :ninja:
It's got to be better than being one of those poor souls who lie dead for months (or even years) before anyone notices. :(

But the positive is that there were nice people looking out for her,and the services there to care for those potentialy in need, but I do now emphasis how invasive it feels for it to happen in a unrequired situation.

Well it does either the ambos got the wrong address AGAIN or my stalker wanted to know if I was still there ... fun fun fun

I just dropped my mum to stansted airport. I left the house at 4am. Got her on time to the airport 2 hours before her simple flight to France to see my brother. Anyway i drop her to special assistance and some plonk takes my mum to the right gate and leaves her there unattended for one and half hours. She keeps reminding people she is there and has a flight but they ignore her. She has basic english enough to get by and be understood. Anyway bottom line is they forgot to put her on the flight. She has long term conditions and is 67.

omg I am sorry to hear that ... absolutely disgraceful from the airline ... If she is at the right gate, how could they forget to put her on the flight?? Hope mum is ok :(
Now my sister is saying she thinks it was special assistance to the gate only. We cannot get through to anyone at the **** airport
Apparently special assistance should have asked me gate or plane and people at the gate should have done something about mum. Anyway she is in a hotel now as its impractical for me to get up at 3am again tomorrow and do the same airport run then go to work. They have booked her on another flight and paid for her hotel. As long as she has wifi she will be ok.

Sorry to hear your mum's had such a bad day! It must have been humiliating to be forgotten about like that.
I hope she's settled into her hotel for the night and has decent wifi to keep her occupied.
Fascinating day, learnt it was flat above that manipulated the land agent to call ttumpton to kick in my door. Apparently Im well known to yell at cleaners throu my letter box? actually that does sound like something I would do. But they also said that it was because they hadnt seen me recently. THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ME!!!!!!
The land agents also know Im registered blind ? Ive never told the land agents and as Ive never met anyone or spoke to anyone in the block how do theu know that ? Very creepy
I know the above weir dos where following me to the bathroom and stand listening above while I do that human waste release thing, as I could hear the floor boards creak , but they must also of been listening somehow within the flat or something, even the cleaners apparently know my sight issues , who the fudge told them?
Didn't have the heart to tell the nice land agent lady she had been played by weir dos who dont actually give a monk about me but Ive obviously become the focus of their sad lives. Well I attract these types of nut jobs, have done all my life once went on a skiing holiday and a lady I spoke to once moved 50 miles and got a job in my office so she could be near me. I raninnto her at a night club one night just said a quick hi and ran on, only for her to call me the next day saying she had dumped her man for me as i clearly wanted her and , what was worse so did the daighter, I just wanted to be we will meet tonight and be together???? A mates lady turned up one day on my door step, I let her in as she was crying only for her to then make moves on me and chase me round my lounge. Another mates mum got all amorous with me once, that I didn't see coming nor her daughter when she tried. A senior BT director at a conference made unsubtle moves on me by sitting next to me and placing his arm across the back of my chair. Im not gay but if I was he certainly wouldnt be someone Id pull. I had to get a girl in are team to pretend to be my lady friend, she played that role for a years post that day too.
Oh Im rambling as I like to do, I enjoy the sound of my own text

hope the damage got fixed

At least you know who called the police now, even if that's only a small comfort to you... :)
Some times it works for me, I chatted my way into a sky bundle with two recording boxes. one top of the range for no extra charge saved me £250. I thou have a good face for radio presenting.
More bad news today, will cost me £9000 to extend the lease on the flat to 120 years as its hovering at the nightmare level of 6 months from the under 80 years mark, meaning buyers wont be able to get a mortgage and cash buyers will demand i get that done before they make an offer
Anyone got a spare 9 grand lying around ?

I wish!
I don't really understand what you're talking about never having bought a house myself, but I hope you manage to get it sorted. Good luck! :)
Yeah Dazzle its complicated but expensive, in essence in 80 years time my flat despite me owning it becomes the property of the people that own the land, which means that its a bad investment for a bank to give a buyer a loan to buy my flat. So to sort that I have the right to buy back the years on my land lease back to 120 years for 9 grand ish. But me spending 9k might mean the value of the property is over nine k improved over a price without the extension.. Im lucky I have the cash but the ocupants in this block are very unlikley to have 9k available , so will get the mullered by the land owners who have now bought the land agents who where supposed to work for US and its now going to get very nasty and expensive for residence when the 80 year period ends , then land rent could go grom 15 qquid half yearly to 150 quid and the buy back of years on the lease could become 20k .
Today I was mostly chilling in the warm spring warmth of the sun.
Yeah Dazzle its complicated but expensive, in essence in 80 years time my flat despite me owning it becomes the property of the people that own the land, which means that its a bad investment for a bank to give a buyer a loan to buy my flat. Just a cathatic rant to be ignored ....
Family bod got themselves logged out of skype and couldnt remember password to log back in, I created a new acount and got them back online with me and nice sibling. Family bod then sent accounts details to un nice sibling who didnt know my skype name till they logged in as family bod and got my skype name that way. Now un nice sibling knows I dont want any contact with her as it could only end badly re me calling her names etc etc etc but then I did stop her gettring an additional £75,000 from my aunts bank account to add to the 25k she already got her hands on, so she will probably be yelling at me. My aunt has senile demantia and lives in a care home and un nice sibling sees her as a cash cow. But then she did get bored of waiting for others to ...well and got them to give her a cut of her inheritance now.. well she sickens me..but as with all familys you have to bite your tongue for the sake of those you love, even if they cant see how evil one of their creations is.
So anyway, now un nice siblimg has my skype name she rolls out her trump card to try and get me to accept her request to be her includded in my contact list. My neiece
"xxl would like to add you on Skype"
"hi uncle steve its me amy, thank you so much for the christams money, i spent the money on alot of clothes. i hope your having a great time over there in england and i hope to meet you one day as i have never met you before lts of love amy xx"
Vexing stuff, is that the work of a young neice or the minipulations of un nice sibling. Can I actualy be heartless enough to click decline?
Yes I can be .....I have power of attorney as it stands and good sibling executor of the wills, un nice sibling has fallen out with both of us me a long time ago and nice sibling over the 25k she took revcently before I could stop her. Its vile to the core that I know family bod is being played , and I love them but they just cant grasp that in nice sibling is ... well best I not air that thought.
But it does make me chuckle that seeing as I built my first compter from parts and has the origanal zx821 and spectrum a a kid that un nice sibling thinks im so uncomputer savy as to not know how she got my skype name

Never been so annoyed at a teacher in my life. Had a meeting with my daughter's teacher, he requested it.. I had no clue why as her grades are fantastic and for a girl who had no German when we came here, is now top of her class in most subjects (we are here only 4 years).. He said it was her lack of interest in class that prompted the meeting. Well my daughter is 14 and most kids that age are not interested in anything to do with school. He then went on to explain that Charley (my daughter) didn't fit in cause she had totally different interests to the rest of the kids that are too mature for them. That's not her fault!!! She reads a lot and is interested in a lot of music that is not current (at the moment she has discovered the Beatles and the Doors). When she participates in the class, he said, it is too advanced for the other kids. So basically her idea are passed over or her choice for something is ignored cause the class doesn't know what it is about. There is only one other kid in the class who is been treated the same and he is 15. (the rest are 12 / 13 as she had to go back a year to learn German).
My child has to dumb down to fit in and be into "current" music is basically what he said. He also said he expects more from her than the rest of the class cause he can see her potential which is fair enough but it does put more pressure on a child and they are bound then to rebel. The meeting ended abruptly when I didn't agree with him.. not sure he is going to ever call me back for a meeting again
He sounds like an idiot and I admire you for keeping your cool, Siobhan. Perhaps Charley should be moved up a year or two, especially since she's been previously held back. They should be encouraging her forge ahead not expecting her to dumb down for goodness sake! :wall:

That's one of the problems.. her grades in Maths is not great.. if she skipped she would really struggle.

Good for you that you stuck up for your daughter. My kids love Elvis and motown because i play them a lot. Its never held them back or been a topic or issue. Crazy school.
I had something similar recently. My son who is 16 and a high achiever e.g he got 98% in maths A level at the age of 15. He is doing 3 maths A levels and Geography A level and is one of the top students in the school. He always gets the score 4 for behaviour which is the outstanding mark.
Anyway they have a homework diary that all parents are supposed to sign weekly. However all kids do not get their parents to sign and sign it themselves. What Adil did was sign it when the teacher was watching. He was accused of forging out signature. He said he had not forged the teachers signature but has always done his own signature. They immediately gave him detention as he said that their procedures were unecessary. At 16 he can join the army and doe for his country but at 16 he has to get mummy or daddy to sign a homework. He always does his homework and has refused going on holiday 3 times so far because of exams. I went to a holiday with my girls for a week in the countryside last week . He stayed behind and spent most of hos time in the library. Anyway they rang my husband to say he had been given detention and why. My husband could not stop laughing. Then they tried to get us to agree tosend him to a six week behaviour management class. We said get stuffed. What a joke!!!!

Could she maybe change school to one that would mentor and encourage rather than critizise? Sounds to me the teachers can´t cope with 2 kids rather more advanced in some subjects. Or would additional tutoring in maths help, assuming she is not getting any already, for her to advance to another class?

She is quiet happy where she is so don't want to send her to another school (she has only just gotten use to the schools here after leaving Ireland). Her maths is not bad (she is not failing) but low enough not to be able to move up a class. I am not bothered about her, she will cope.. it was just having to sit and listen to that idiot for a hour that did my head in

Got the flu and was stretched out on my sofa around 2pm my time when I felt the earth move ... appears there was an earthquake of 3.7 magnitude, 5 days before the 5th anniversary of a big earthquake not too far from where I live which caused severe distructions which in places are still to be seen. First time I have ever felt it, a very strange sensation. Luckily, this time no damage from what I have heard so far :)

I'm moving in a few weeks and will be downsizing, so I've got a lot of stuff I need to get rid of - plus a decade's worth of clutter! I'm quite enjoying giving stuff away on Freecycle and selling the odd bits that are in decent condition on Gumtree/eBay.
People will take just about anything if it's free, and it's worth the effort to keep things out of landfill. I've even given away old broken electrical garden tools and furniture in need of serious repair!

Oh, I have experienced that too, even collecting something for free which is in an excellent condition can be too much for some but I hope that what you treasured especially will have gone to a good home where it will also be appreciated :)

Most people are exceedingly appreciative at being given something for free - even if they're going to have to clean it up and repair it. It gives me a bit of a warm glow knowing my unwanted stuff is being used rather than ending up at the tip.
Im downsizing my offces in the borough i whistleblew in. I have lost 3 contracts totalling about 500k because of my whistleblowing. So my team is reducing in size dramatically but i have managed to transfer them over to new contractors. So no redundancies thank goodness. Anyway means i have to clear 22 years of stuff as thats how long i have worked there. So very similar as i am giving loads of stuff away to charities for free. Hopefully it will be gone in another week. A very difficult time for me and things have been very bad since Dec. one daughter quit teaching in her newly qualified teacher post. She was put under too much pressure. my other daughter got depression and now is taking a year out from Uni. Thanks Dazzle for all your support during the last months.
You're welcome. I had hoped things were a little better for you now but didn't like to ask. At least it must have been a big weight off your mind not to have had to make anyone redundant.
My downsizing is a lot less daunting than what you're having to do. Good luck with the rest of it. :)

your earlier posts-but didnt realise how bad
I glad Dazzle was able to give you support!
Hope things now start improving and for your daughters

Thank you all. I am getting through it with support.
The worse bit has been is that the NHS person i whistleblew against got someone to put a whistleblowing complaint against me and my organisation with false allegations in Dec. Thats how i lost one contract as it was a timely complaint during a tender process so i would not get a key cntract renewed. Now lots of people looking stupid as they realise it is revenge for my whistleblowing 2 years ago as that person who put a complaint against me has a job with the person i put a complaint in about. Happy days
It took me ages to catch up on corrie on Monday night. Five episodes back to back . At lunch time the next day i caught up with the monday 9pm episode. So at 8.55 last night i thought i was finally going to enjoy watching an episode in peace and quiet. Well there was no such chance.
So many neighbours came knocking on my door it was unbelievable. One for yogurt, another one to give me some food, another one asking me if i have details of a gardner. Then my husband came back from a Council meeting asking me about a woman who had turned up at 7pm re her passport. Finally a 17 year old friend of my son turned up after being made homeless by his stepdad. So ended up sorting him out and sorting blankets etc my husband will sort a place for him today hopefully. Now i need to sort out where i can watch corrie tonight without disturbance. I might drive 45 mins to Brentwood and watch with an old friend of mine.

I got me a gorgeous new family member today. Please welcome little Benny.
I spent weeks knitting him a blankie with his name on to welcome him to our home, and it turns out that he is actually a she. So she is now known as Bennita....Benny for short LOL. Isn`t she adorable.

Thanks so much Perdita and Dazzle ♥
Bennita has already settled in - even though she has only been here a few hours. She has decided that its fun to walk all over my keyboard and she closed out my windows...including pinned tabs. The little minx.
She`s so thin though - I can feel her ribs. So I will definitely have to fatten her up.
Bennita reminds me of another ginger and white kitten I had a few years ago. We adopted little Monty from the animal shelter. And we made sure he had all his jabs when he left the animal shelter. Unfortunately though he must have had feline leukemia in his system from birth as we had to take him to the vets to be put to sleep less than two years later. :(
We got Bennita from a friend of a friend from the same area where the animal shelter is located in Oak Hill. So I`m wondering if Bennita is a distant relative of Monty from a few generations....their colouring is too similar to be a coincidence.
Either way I am so delighted with her. After running around, she is finally napping now bless her heart,
Here is a picture of Monty to show you why I think they could be related somehow.

Yes, they are very similar. Poor Monty :( - I hope little Bennita is luckier than him.

I just couldn`t settle on her name Dazzle. I chose the name Benny the day he was born, and he was promised to me from day one. Apparently its quite rare for a ginger and white cat to be female.
But now she is at my home, and settled in beautifully, I have decided to call her Bessie. Her full name is Bessie Bumble because the orange and white stripes on her tail makes her look like a bumble bee.
Here she is on her blankie. But now she`s asleep on it. The poor little thing has had a long day and is tuckered out.

Yes, I'd forgotten about ginger and white cats being almost exclusively male. Their female equivalents are tortoiseshell and white cats (black, ginger and white). Bessie is probably one of the latter but with her dark patches missing. :D

Bessie`s Mother Sally doesn`t look like she fed her very much as Bessie is so skinny her ribs are poking through. But she`s had a good feed today.
:(
Bessie has a sister who is calico, the rest in the litter are 2 boys - not sure what colour they are.
I`ve always had a fondness for ginger cats.....ginger and white being my fave. Over the years we`ve had cats of every colour and colour combination. LOL.

Day 3 of our kitten
So disregard everything that I said...he`s definitely a boy. My hubby said that he must`ve been scared when he first got here, so his knackers must`ve been hidden in fright. I don`t go around checking kittys plumbing bits, so I took my hubbys word for it.
:D
Benny has settled in really well. Here is his latest pic. He`s snoozing on the blankie I knitted for him after a busy morning playing with his new toys we bought hm. Well actually playing with the packaging the catnip mice came in rather than the catnip mice themselves.
At least now we know he`s a boy I don`t have to make him another blankie with his name on

My 21 year old daughter applied for a year off from university as she has mental health issues. The university have rejected her application and expect her to come back to university and try and compkete her course. She has to retake her 2nd year as she has not attended due to ill health since december. So they expect her to turn up unwell. I spoke to her and she was in floods of tears. She is with her uncle in kuwait as part of her recovery. He is so good with her and understands mental health issues as a close friend of his has been managing it all these years. Anyway bottom line is my daughter has had to completely quit university as she cannot go back and try and muddle through when she is not well enough to function.
I have sent an email to the university and told them excatly what i thought of their support mechanisms and understanding of mental health issues. I don't know where she goes from here but we will take a day at a time.

I am so sorry to hear that .. You would have expected much more understanding from an educational authority, shame on them. Would be interesting to hear if you get a reply from them in response to your email. I hope your daughter gets better soon. Maybe she can go back to studying at a later time when she is able to. xxx
I'm moving home today. I'm completely knackered already!
Just sitting down for a rest and a quick read of SoapBoards. I can't do without my fix! :D

Congratulations Dazzle.
There is no greater feeling of triumph, and sense of accomplishment when you spend your first night in your new home after all your hard graft and preparation. And no one knows that more than me. As a Navy wife, hubby and I have moved houses (and states) about 8 times in hubby`s Navy 20 year navy career.
Enjoy your new home, and just spend today being lazy - you have earned it.
:cheer:

Time to chill now, take your time in getting sorted and settle in, your house sounds idyllic, may you have many years of happiness and good fortune there :D

Wow Perdita.....that`s way more than me.
My most important thing I learned about packing is that the computer and desk gets moved last, and it`s the first thing that is moved into our new home. LOL. Priorities priorities.
We`ve lived in this house 11 years now.... and its the longest time we have ever lived in one house since before hubby and I were married, and I still lived at home. It feels good to finally put down some roots.
I hope you enjoy many years of happiness Dazzle. I hope you have great neighbours too. :D
My flat refurbishment is due to end on the week of the 4th July .. means I can sell up and get the hell out of this prison I swapped for another ..being classified blind shouldn't mean I cant drive or be a bus driver, the worlds my lobster. Ok Ok I may not see the oncoming lorry but nor would my passengers as they would be too busy screaming.
Or I could become an air hostess, ok so a few bods would get scorching hot tea in their laps, but I would be stunning in the airlines promotional Mags.
Better still I could be a ships captain... oh wait I cant see that ending well

Whether Brexit happens or not - Farage should step down as leader of UKIP in my opinion. What a disgrace he was last night ducking out of the most important debate in decades. It was a cowardly thing to do.
:thumbsdow
Wow TL you are hardcore, I fell asleep at 1.30am...
Farage is getting all the PR, seemingly all the far right nasty parties in Europe are praising us!
Please dont make Boris are new PM, Id say he would drive us to hell in a hand cart but the buffoon would mess that up too.
Remember people, spread your money around, only the first 75 grand in your bank is guaranteed by the government when the banks all crash and burn... Im a cheerful fella me.
wibble.....
If you use the Go Advanced option when you post, then it posts only once :)
