You know, I have never tasted mar mite!

I crave a good door step cheese and pickle sarnie like my old local pub used to make for me, but then some huge chain bought it out and the food went to plop.

After 13 years a recluse my best so far was a donor kebab smothered in chilli sauce and garlic mayonnaise, the only let down was that the salad wasnt greek. Im fully of the thought that if we kill animals for food we should eat it all including eyes etc, hence I have no issue eating anything (soz Dazzle)

However I did this week have a sharwoods chicken curry where IMO the chicken was rank and they seemed IMO to have tried to cover that fact with as many hot spices as they could and a lasangua where the meat was ground so small it was putrid to my palate.

I felt ill yesterday when i had a kebab in Leyton. I can tell a mile off when its not fresh. He just heated them up rather than prepare from fresh.
Round my way they make it fresh in front iff you. Never again. I could easily be vegetarian

Just got a flat tyre. Got a new car a year ago and they do not give you a spare tyre just a puncture kit. What a cheek. Toyota assistance do not carry tyres either with them so i imagine this will be a long day. I had the afternoon off to go shopping!

You should definitely try it once - although I doubt you'll enjoy it. Marmite has a unique flavour and it seems to me from what I've heard people say that those who love it were brought up on it.

I also use it in cooking the same way as you do. It's especially good in vegetarian cooking because it adds a deep savouriness that can otherwise be lacking without meat. Soy sauce can be used similarly.

The train tips from side to side and oh how sick I was!! From now on I will travel with a different rail network.

Ive sailed all my life never getting sea sick, but stick me in front of those found video cam movies or first person shoot em up games and expect imminent projectile vomiting.

On the train did you read a book or play on your phone etc? Next time dont, always look out the window at the horizon, it gives your brain something to work with and thus the inner ear.

Sorry to hear you're still in pain and not getting any help. :(

As for your other leg, it is a truth universally acknowledged that pain in one leg can cause problems in the other because the original pain often makes one walk with an unnatural gait.

My Ode to Autumn

Seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness ( as the poem Ode to Autumn says), went for a long walk through the local park and really enjoyed the Autumn colours beginning to show through the trees ( Horse Chestnuts and Sycamores). I had managed to avoid showers earlier so I didn't need a raincoat. I then went for some emergency groceries in the local town, parishoners from the local C of E were slowly filtering out of the main door, one or two were carrying their choir clothes ( I din't know what the correct name for them is) concealed and draped over their arms in plastic dry cleaning covers. Others were in conversation about the weather or trips they had made recently. Then punctually as ever the church clock chimed the hour, on my way home I couldn't help noticing that very few birds were singing, the shorter days and longer nights are closing in I told myself and its time to bring the Geraniums in.

Yes I had to go to three tie break questions as well when I beat CJ. They only showed one on telly. I was a bit disappointed with that.

I have to say that he was a really nice bloke. Him and Kevin were great. We met them all before and after filming and they were so welcoming and really put us all at ease. Both had a great sense of humour. Kevin was self-deprecating and in a way made fun of himself and his image of being a bit of a nerd, but he was far from that TV persona. Daphne was exactly how she seems on telly. Judith was a bit stand-offish and didn't really say much. Chris was just grumpy and didn't seem to want to have to meet contestants!

Not feeling happy at the moment. Quite the reverse.

One of our two cats, Muggles, has been terminally ill for a while with kidney failure. We noticed about 6 weeks ago that he was losing weight and was a bit listless, so we took him to the vet who diagnosed kidney failure. He said there wasn't much we could do about it and it was just a matter of time. He said that he wouldn't be in any pain - and he certainly didn't seem to be - but he would just get more and more listless, which is what has been happening. He has been getting worse and sits in one place not moving for a long time, though every now and then he gets up and walks around and even goes outside for a bit.

Last night, after a day of doing very little, he suddenly got up and ran to the door. I opened it for him and he ran outside. That was the last I saw of him. It was quite cold last night and he didn't come back in. I tried calling him and going out to look for him but I couldn't see him anywhere. We have a cat flap, so it was just a matter of hoping he would come back in. But he still hasn't turned up and, after another extensive look outside (and inside, just in case), I can't see him anywhere this morning. If he just laid down in the cold last night and didn't move, that might well have finished him off. The worse thing is not knowing where he is or if he is still alive. I have been out this morning looking everywhere I can think of, but all to no avail.

The sad thing is he is only 10 and, until a few weeks ago, was a very lively cat and definitely "Top Cat" of the neighbourhood. But he was also very friendly and he'd spend a lot of time in the evening curled up on my lap. Not to mention helping me write my books during the day by walking all over the keyboard! We were good mates!

Of course I'm hoping he'll turn up, but even then, I know it's only a matter of a very short time.....

Very sorry to hear this parkerman, if Muggles had a cat blanket try hanging it up outside ,if possible not too far away from the cat flap, don't allow it to get wet, tom cat scent is very strong it might just give him a track. Whether or not it's an old wives tale or just country folklore I always heard that cats often disappear from their home surroundings to die.

I think there is some truth in it, though that has never happened with any of the cats I've had...so far.

I've had a terminally ill cat do something similar. She was the type of cat who'd jump on my lap as soon as I sat down and would even lie on me when I was in bed (I had to lock her out of the bedroom in the end because she was giving me a bad back!). I often thought she was more like a dog than a cat in her need to be close to me at all times.

I first knew something was wrong because she stopped wanting to be near me and moved out onto the kitchen table. I made her a comfortable box to sleep in on the table and she lived there for the rest of her life (it was a couple of months I think). She seemed to know she was dying and wanted to be alone (although that situation was obviously a bit different because she wasn't as close to the end as Muggles).

If he died in the cold it was possibly his own choice and probably as painless a death as could be hoped for (I know humans who are dying of the cold quickly fall into a stupor and then unconsciousness, so I imagine it would be similar for cats).

I hope you find out what happened one way or another.

I am dreading the day she goes out for the first time in this area due to all the foxes around here. shes too young yet and weak as she is a rescue cat and i think she was half starved when they found her. Keep her indoors, all my cats were indoor cats, they don´t miss going out if they don´t know it. In fact, one of my cats never wanted to go out and was crying at the front door the one day I pushed him out just to get an idea of his surroundings. Ninja just loved to sit on the window sill and observe what was going on outside. :D

I would rather do that. I think she will not want to go outside as she ended up in a rescue as i think she got lost one day. You can get little harnesses and when she is a bit older and stronger you can take her on a little walk, if she wants to do that. I let Ninja out just once so he could get a look at and smell of the surroundings in case he ever did get outside after getting spooked or so. At least then (so I think) it helps cats to find their way home again if they are just indoor cats. So what is your kitten called? So glad you are enjoying her company and I am sure she will be ever grateful for having got a good home for the rest of her life :D

Its taken me nearly 6 hours to get to Rochdale! It was supposed to be 4. Just going to bed now and have to be up at 6 again.
Just so i can see a childhood friend before the wedding. Friday afternoon is not a good time to drive to another city. But it was interesting as i ended up taking a 12 year old grl with me ...my friends sister who needed to get back home up north after half term. She has become addicted to coronation street after kylie killed Calum. She was impressed with my spoilers and even more impressed when i said the guy who plays kevin was in my brothers maths class. She was really good company and i am meeting up with her again tomorrow. Missing my cat though.

I am so exhausted it feels as i have just been driving for days. Yesterday i went from rochdale to bradford then leeds then rochdale again and then blackburn and i think my sat nav was taking me the long route everytime. So much road works etc on weekend as well. Anyway i went to Blackburn at 10pm last night as i had the opportunity to see a childhood friend who i had not seen since i was about 15. That was 35 years ago. Its was so nice to see her and catch up. I got back to rochdale 1am and feeling it now.
I also saw another childhood friend in the morning in rochdale before the wedding and sat for a while with her mum who has dementia. She remembered me and my family and i showed her lots of old photos on my phone. She has strong memories of my dad as he helped her with a lot of paperwork and applications for benefits when her husband walked out for another women.. Her kids were very young then. I remember that time clearly. In 2004 she went to our old house in manchester to try and see my dad as she just felt she wanted to see him after so many years. They told her her had moved a while back and had ended up moving down south to be nearer hs grown up kids and that he had just died a few days ago. Her and her daughter came to london the next day to see us all . So it was nice seeing her.

Property Management tools want to install a door entry system, which is fine. they trying to con us that it wont cost us anything as it comes out of the emergency fund.. the emergency fund which the owners of the flats paid into!! How thick do they think we are.?

Anywho they are telling me where the phone will be installed, in the hallway by the main door to the flat, which happens to be only 5 foot deep and enclosed by the inner door to the flat... which would mean probably you will never hear someone trying to buzz your flat to get in as the inner door is designed to keep communal noise out from the stair well!

Its all ridiculous as the owner of the land seems to be just telling us thats what they have arranged and tough noogies if you dont like it. Well Ive got time on my hand so I think they may regret being so heavy handed, if Im going to pay for something I want it to be what I want not what Im told to have,

Racism must have been a huge factor, with exit polls showing his highest proportion of voters being white middle-class Americans - particularly men but also women!

With the KKK in the US and the far right the world over celebrating today, all decent and fair-minded people should worry about what's happening in the western world - including the UK (where Theresa May and her cabinet are out UKIP-ing UKIP and much of our media inciting hatred and violence without reproach). Well he stinks to me!

He's not quite as successful as he boasts either. He inherited huge wealth from his father (it's a hell of a lot easier to increase wealth than it is to build it from scratch) and many of his business ventures have gone bankrupt. Plus there's the little fact that of his incredible tax avoidance.

There can be no loose canon worse than Trump. His advisers and the Republican party have spent the past few months in vain desperately trying to reign him in. But in the end his nastiness and volatility just made him more attractive to a huge swathe of voters...

You forgot to add white to that list. :p

Hillary Clinton is hated because she's seen as very much part of the establishment, in bed with the banks, and a war monger (all of which appear to be true). And yet, objectively she was still a hundred times better than the alternative. The Democrats had a popular anti-establishment possibility in Bernie Sanders (a socialist and the US' version of Jeremy Corbyn) but the Democrat machine and money helped ensure Hillary won the primaries.

As Perdita says, Bernie Sanders had a better chance of winning against Trump because he's also an anti-establishment figure and doesn't have Hillary's distasteful past weighing him down. He would probably have appealed more than her to the many in the US (as in the rest of the Western world) who are understandably very angry with the establishment.

Sorry to hear that. You usually come across in your posts as not having a care in the world so it's easy to forget you can worry with the best of us. I hope you managed to get some sleep after.

Thank you ....

Nah I do have "Bests" well I knew that since I was 6 but I dont have anything else, that was what I was worried about. I am now registered as severely sight impaired which will get the Job centre off my back for a bit. There is no cure for it, but my issues are insignificant to one chap in the waiting room, made me realise how lucky I am.

Did make me chuckle thou, three nurses discussed my case in front of me when they did the read the chart thing and eye pressures, then the next doctor took an age over photographing my eyes , it was torture "look into the light, eyes wide, relax" shesh Id of sold out Ann Frank in an instant if that would of made her stop.

Then the next phase was waiting in the red chairs seeing the specialist, no minion for this fool, it was straight to the top man for me, Lovely fella and top of his field and also a good ophthalmologist . :D

Yes you definitely need to go back. Sometimes the first antibiotics they give can be ineffective so they need to try others. Don't be tempted to leave it because it'll get worse, and also take longer to clear up. You should call a doctor out if you're not well enough to go to the surgery.

Don´t want to add to your worries but I know several people here in sunny Spain who needed around 4 weeks to get rid of their chest infections recently ... get as much rest as you can, I guess sometimes these things take longer. Maybe a change of antibiotics is needed, definitely another trip to the doctor as soon as you can. Hope you get better real soon :)

I had mice in my kitchen not long ago, phoned the pest control people, they bought some traps and laced the bait with peanut butter. After 3 days mice removed. Some of my neighbours had reported mice in their kitchens and living rooms too, so the pest control people were around for some considerable time. The cause? well one theory was that a nest had been disturbed due to building work which my neighbour to my left had been having done as he was having a 3 square metre high kitchen built ( this replaced a lovely conservatory that my old neighbour had done some years before)

I am in a panic now as i got a cat 5 weeks ago and it had light fur across where it was neutured Its a rescue cat and around that area we can now see flesh as it has been licking a wound of some sort. I have looked up stuff and it says things about seromas and hernias. Anyway we are supposed to see the vet at 12 and she may need surgery.but i fed the cat at 8am. We never were given any instructions and now i am panicking they will delay surgery if she needs it. We waited 4 days to go back to the Celia Hammond Rescue Centre as they think its to do with the operation they did. Now what shall i do?

I appreciate how concerned you must feel about little kitty but maybe she does not need an operation, did she not have a cone around her head to stop her licking the wound after her op? It could be just a stitch that got infected and some antibiotics might be all she needs. I am sure the delay of 24 hours for an operation if she does need one won´t make a big difference. Hope she is right as rain again soon http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/smileys-and-emoticons/cats/smileys-cats-661522.gif (http://www.picgifs.com/smileys/)

Hi swmc66, I'm not sure from your description what's wrong with your beloved cat, but I'm certain you don't need to panic. I'm sure the vet will give her whatever treatment is necessary. Emergency operations are carried out every day on people and animals who haven't been nil by mouth. I doubt she needs emergency surgery anyway because if she's eating normally she probably feels OK in herself. Appetite is nearly always a good way to gauge if an animal is feeling well or not, and I can't imagine that she needs an operation today if she's not in pain.

The likelihood is that it's only something minor that doesn't need an operation anyway. Good luck and let us know what the vet says won't you?

swmc66
21-11-2016, 10:07

Brilliant news!!! I know it is difficult to give pets medicine but I manage to open their mouths with one hand and put the pill right down the back of their mouths and hope they swallow it... have you tried hiding the pill in a bit of tuna? Most cats love it and if the pill is small you might be lucky that she does not spit it out :) Hope you manage it somehow anyway ... give hubby some time, you might be able to adopt another kitty at some time :D

I got a second course of steroids and still bad :( So sorry to hear that :( When I have a bad cold which is usually always with a bad sinus infection, I eat loads of fresh garlic, like fresh garlic on toast ... I love it and when I have a bad cold, I don´t want anyone close to me anyway :p:ninja: Also honey, cinnamon and a splash of lemon in hot water several times a day makes me feel much better within days. Also honey, lemon juice and coconut oil in warm water is a natural cough syrup, coconut oil is anti bacterial and anti viral, maybe give that a go too and boost your immune system that way. Hope you feel better soon

Honey and Lemon Cough Syrup with Coconut Oil
Ingredients:

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup local raw honey
2 tablespoons coconut oil
Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together in a small saucepan and heat over low until coconut oil is melted.
Take warm syrup by the spoonful as desired. You can also mix the syrup into hot water or tea.
Once the syrup is cooled the coconut oil will harden.
Store in refrigerator for up to a month. Gently warm the syrup up before using.

I'm not sure from that description if you feel there's been any improvement lol. My mum's prone to chest infections and they can take a long time to shift unfortunately. Usually it's a good sign if there's been even a tiny improvement or if your symptoms are at least not worsening.

Im never doing that again, I didnt want to go in the first place but I was told I must meet my nephew, who roundly ignored me the whole meal. Thou I dont blame him as I was by then not a talkative bunny.

Londons not changed, its just as horrible as I remember from when I worked there all thou tons more high rise buildings.

Flippen contractor refurbishing my flat changed the lock on the door so I couldnt get in to my own flat :wall:

I told them I had another contractor coming this week so how the hell where they going to get in if I hadnt done an expedition and found out my keys no longer work?

Main boss was very apologetic but the simpleton who took my call today was very vague and couldnt seem to grasp why I need a key and why two keys. I told him slowly again one key for me one key for the other contractor :wall:

I didnt trust him so I emailed the company with all the details, if they dont email me back by Wednesday Im going to be a bit terse about this. They clammed the lock seized but it had been working fine for the last twenty odd years! They need to be nice to me if they want their final payments

The weather today is frosty or as the poem by Thomas Hardy quotes 'frost of spectre grey' , it is a typical Winter/Autumn day where I live.Sunshine is streaming through one of the windows in my home, silence has once again made its presence in the garden with birdsong on hold until Spring resurfaces. On the odd occasion a robin will fly into my back garden, perching itself on the fence, and every now and again will almost stare at me as if to say 'any food about, I'm hungry. How could I refuse, with a fist of breadcrumbs I wander out into the garden and scatter them on the patio, then quickly retreat indoors and await the hoards of birdlife to grace my garden ( if only for a few precious minutes).

I have an interview next week , hope that this time it will turn out to be more positive than the last 20 job interviews I had which culminated in the immortal words ' your application has been unsucessful'.

I get sparrows on my balcony eating bread they find from neighbours that throw bread for them and olives they pick from trees, glad they are eating well but wish they would use somewhere else to go and poo

Good luck with the job interview :) xx

Good luck do not give up. My daughter quit teaching recently and she had a few months off to recover. When she decided to apply for teaching assistant posts 100s of people were applying for one post. She started a new job on monday finally but had some rejections before that. She is getting her confidence and her life back together now

Great news swmc66 daughter.

Had a great walk with Teddy and Kitty, Teddy likes to sniff every leaf and lamp post and Kitty, well she just sits down and waits in frustration. She gives him a withering look but Teds in hog heaven and dosent notice.

Sending you warm waves of healing Siobhan.

Im having problems with my legs so I know how miserable that kind of pain can be.

Off to visit my flat and old stomping ground today. land lady is droping me off then will pick me up after shopping. Its really tedious not being able to drive. All the buses here go to Winchester, so I would have to get a train to Southampton then get another bus there. Im going to have to buy a horse and cart.

Flat looks brilliant, door entry system goes in on Monday soon be time for estate agent to value.

Mandonalds is just across the road so had breakfast and lunch from there then next door is Lidl which I had a stroll about, my flat maybe small but its location location location baby, right on the main bus routes to town and everywhere with a Tesco store across the road and a Sainburys super store within a 7 min walk.

But my fav pub is now a house and all the rest close are withespoons like big chains, no darts teams etc.

Im no expert but isnt there a way of activating/downloading to the forum a anti robot test for joining? i mean I hate them with my poor eyesight but they do their job of keeping out R2D2 and his gang of ingrates.

OFGS you couldnt make this smeg up.

Contractor got keys Sunday and is now installing a door entry system in my flat, which would be great if the goon had of left a entry key with my contact when he picked the key up for the flat as agreed. So this is going to be one hell of a secure entry system now myself and my contractors cant get into the block!

TBH I will kick the door in if they dont sought me a key asap, I didnt agree to the entry system nor was any of us consulted. It just makes me so angry that I did my best well in advance to make sure this didnt happen yet all contact was brutally ignored.

Had to walk away from land lady who started defending the dolt contractor and saying "oh well we can drive 40 mins each way to pay ten pounds for a key from their office" But then she bought the lie about it being mum and dads fault that my sister in Australia got hold of person with dementias 25 thou send and it wasnt her fault, but it must be noted she hasnt put it back and dosent intend to. Had to walk away on that one too.

Brrr it`s colder than a politician`s heart here today....and it`s supposed to get colder by the weekend. :(
I spent all of last month binge watching All Saints. It took me less than a year to watch all 12 seasons. I feel strangely empty, and very sad after watching the finale. What a brilliant show that was.
I had to binge watch them because Plus7 online were going to cancel it the end of November. And wouldn`t you know, on December the 1st, All Saints was extended on the Plus 7 channel for another 4 months!
:(
I got 3 more weeks to finish the Christmas gifts I`m making for friends. I hope it won`t be like last year and knitting hats til 5am Christmas morning!!!!
