Had a vet appointment yesterday which i had to cancel as i could not get the cat in the carrier. Going to get a large one now i dont care how silly we will look.
I wish there was a home visiting pet service. Anyway rebooked for next week.
I have been to the Harry Potter studios twice . It is really good. I have read all the books. Started off reading them to my children. I never thought i liked reading until then.

I have the books (in english and german) and all the DVD. My daughter and me are obsessed. We have wands, necklaces and she even got her letter to Hogwarts. It is probably one of those movie series that my whole family sit down and watch

We have wands and the jewelry too. I would'nt let my daughter get the voldemort wand and she has wanted it for years. Anyway her close friend bought it for her 21st as a joke just to get a reaction from me. I thought that was funny. Anyway its only a bit of expensive plastic...so i keep telling myself.

My sister has had a really patronising letter from her Manager today threatening her with a disciplinary because of her time keeping and work performance , the same has happened to other people in the workplace. having spoken to her Union rep its looks as if her employer is in for a shock, about 2 other colleagues have sufferred the same as she has. My sister is now going for a job interview on Monday for a different job ( which she is qualified to do) I am hopeful she will be offered it there and then.

My sister got the job she wanted!!! I am so happy for her. Decorated the Christmas tree today, it looks great, swathes of tinsel gold and silver, not to mention baubles carefully placed on branches, finally the fairy lights ( thank goodness they work) glistening from top to toe. The foot of the tree is spartan, no doubt it will be groaning with presents by the end of next week.

well done your sis :cheer:

Land lady still upset, a kid at her school collapsed and stopped breathing, a colleague who is a trained first aider instantly started cpr, the kid is known to have heart issues but that lady really stepped up having that happen on her watch. Land lady was also furious, she is also a trained first aider yet she and most of the others were unaware that the school had a heart shock machine like you see on TV. I cant see this ending well for the head teacher if only the office staff knew about it, which seems the case.

Another expensive day Tuesday, but in theory thats the end of the cash drain sorting my flat out, just needs a few tweaks and its on the let market it goes.

Had the worst christmas party ever... we all came at 5pm and it started with a bit of mulled wine in the courtyard where our bookkeeper yelled at me for smoking and even when I went to the outer courtyard she followed me to yell some more (I get a lot of people don't like smoking but there is no need to yell at anyone for it especially if I am outside and in the designated smoking area nowhere near her). Anyway boss rambled on for 2 hours about some stuff and seriously didn't have any point to it so not sure why. Starter came at 8.30 (was ok, not the best) and mains at 9.30. Waited til 10.45 to get icecream (understand as there was 24 of us and only 2 servers). Never again.. Hotel was lovely but food not the best

Outside of work hours, Id of given her the bird.. youve got more restraint than me Siobhan

I gave up the smokes in 2003, by then I had become expert at giving up I had done it so many times :p

I hate the smell of second hand smoke, but only because it reminds me of the good times and is as always a temptation. But I will defend to the end the right of those that wish to do so.

The only new thingy I hate is the vapour things, great if you are using them to quit but I cant see how that works myself, patches chewing gum is the route I took and the occasional cigar on nights out to stave off buying that pack of 20. Plus bods who arent yet addicted to nicotine now use them, guess what, they become addicted to nicotine!!!!

On the positive side Siobhan you survived the office crimbo party. :D

Hope the bookkeeper is not your line manager, sounds a right nasty piece. I would have just moved away a bit if I was bothered by the smoke. Next February it will be 16 years since I quit but I remember very well the days I fancied a smoke so appreciate how smokers feel.

I hope somebody let the hotel know about the time it took for your meals to arrive. They knew the amount of people they had to cater for so appropriate staff should have been employed, even if it was extra staff just for the night!!

Thankfully she is not my line manager but she is second in command if anything happens to the boss. And for the record, I moved away from the group and she followed me to yell some more. She is an ex smoker too and one of those ones who get disgusted at people smoking. All the non-smokers didn't complain. Splashy I am beyond hope of giving up.. Tried and it was so bad my mother bought me cigarette cause she couldn't handle my crazy. I think I am a smoker and when I am ready I will give up but I am not ready yet.

Siobhan, I still miss the smokes and its been 13 years now.. thats why IMO ex smokers are the worst when it comes to being hypocritical on the subject, they inflicted it on others when smoking indoors was allowed without remorse now the tables have turned .. well .. I can remember a lady smoking away at her desk all day in my first office job, unthinkable now, but it was one after the other, like some toxic smoke screen she was sending up. I always went outside or to the smoking room, wow those places were epic, the stories I could tell. :D

Fun Fun.. went to Santander Bank Branch to update my mobile number with them, lady asked me once to check the details on their tiny screen my side of the security plastic thingy, I said "sorry Im severely partially sighted and I cant read that" she caried on some while then latter she said "ok, please check the details on the screen are correct" I just said, "Im sorry lady my eyes haven't magically been cured since the last time I told you I was sight impaired" I got a boot in the leg from land lady and a perplexed look from bank lady ... had she never come across registered blind people before ? She just got my goat.

Added to that in an ironic twist an obviously fully bind person with a fully sighted person who could see, whacked me on the ankle with his stick. his seeing helper said "didnt you see him coming, why didnt you get out of the way and walked on" Well because I didnt see him coming should of been the answer but by then there was no point. Note to self get that white stick.

My brother came from France with family on wednesday 21st and we were supposed to go to the theatre yesterday. My sister booked something called Duckie for 12 of us. She even went on Tuesday to collect the tickets. Anyway when she was handing me tickets on wednesday 21st at my mothers the tickets had 20th Dec on them!
She had not realised when she picked them up.
My sisters a bit scatty that is all i can say.
Anyway she got it changed to today at 11am. So no money lost. We just have to get up very early. With is difficult as the youngsters do not like mornings especially on holidays.
Splashy i have OCD about lots of things. Mainly things being in their place and things being clean. I drive my family up the wall.
I try not be the last one out the house as i double and triple check everything so another family member does it. Otherwise we would never get anywhere! I also make plans of plans and organise things to a level many would not. My husband never plans anything so he laughs when my plans fall apart. It makes me laugh too. As i get older i am less bothered

Swm66, does your brother speak fluent french? I live on the south coast and have spent a lot of time in France, well to the point I could get by, I always wanted to be more fluent.

Glad you sorted out the ticket issue

Yeah OCD is a female dog. I once had an important meeting in London so ironed my shirt, but then couldnt convince myself I had turned off the iron. Even thou by the time I was on the train I had placed the darn thing on the balcony out side the flat I was still unconvinced. Fun days... but like you I make land lady check everything last.

Neices boy friend has annoyed land lady, hes enjoyed free food and drink for a few days without offering even as much to pass a plate to us collecting them for washing up,(nor did my neice TBF) then today when at a pub he didnt offer to pay for even one glass of coke for her just bought one for himself and my neice, he then ordered food for themselves in a pub that the others didnt like the menu of but he didnt ask land lady who drove them all there before he just did it ... in the terms of this house that was suicidal. :rotfl:

He didnt annoy me but more frustrated me, every time he was in the lounge he was laid back with his legs across neice, in that kinda arrogant *I own her* body manor, so I couldnt get close enough to speak to her.(Ive only met her once since she was only knee high and now shes 26) Then he would get on his phone and be a non entity in the room, even when all the family were round. Plus he then eat all my special cheeses crimbo night when I was out leaving me just crumbs when I got to the fridge :nono: |no crackers were left either. Add to that he left the normal cheese out of the fridge to go solid unwrapped.

Mind you the gezzer is classic for a bod you bring home to wind up your mum and dad, tattoe sleeves and on knuckles. a weird moustache and for a proclaimed personal trainer he was rather round plus much much much older. The often use of the f word went down like a bag of sick. Yo would of thought the awkward silences when he spke like that might have alerted him or at least my neice should of told him... surprised land lady didnt TBH

Luckily most times I went to the lounge there was no room for me to sit as the big guy was sprawled over the settee that can seat at least three and didnt offer to move, I didnt mind that I just retreated to my room and didnt have to suffer the terrible t v choices of sis or her fast forwarding through bits she declares are boring leaving you with no clue as to whats going on in the movie. :rotfl:

Shame my nephews lady couldnt come, would of stopped him ignoring everyone and having a one handed love affair with his phone, with an app that obviously makes all other humans invisible and inaudible. :rotfl:

It was all very amusing to me and made for me a classic xmas memory as I was the usual quippy me but managed to leave them wanting more rather than less when I did show up. :hmm: well I hope :rotfl:

I am off to the west end to see the Gruffalo. My 17 year old is moaning its not in his age band. But it is really for the benefit of his younger cousins from France who have never been to the west end theatre. He would rather spend time with his mates i think. The reviews say adults like it too.

When I was his age I was dragged along to watch 2 or hours of Gone With the Wind with my parents, the best bit of the film was the ending when Scarlett said 'Tomorrow is another day' ( at least I think that is what she said)

A night of board games and cards at my sister mates house was my brilliant new years eve, plied with cider and chips .

One game was all about telly and films, was a Emerdale question card I got all but the last one right.

So here it is

I used to love wearing bikinis as a teenager, wouldn't dream of being in one now,I prefer shorts instead. Have endured a terrible cold over the New Year, used x2 boxes of tissues after suffering sneezing fits and endless bouts of coughing. Thankfully a cure did come to my rescue ( Sudafed decongestant) and now the cold has almost gone. Day after day I sucked cough pastilles, drank mugs of hot lemon and honey and wrapping myself up in a warm blanket whilst watching tv much to the amusement of my family!!!I am much better now, just taken down the Christmas decorations, spent half an hour dismantling the Christmas wreath, most of which is now residing in the garden waste bin, as for the frame it is in the landfill one. Hoping that 2017 will be more positive too ( jobsearchwise).

I fear the forecast is for fairly widespread snow or at least sleet .. and freezing temperatures at night so be careful of black ice. Unlikely to get snow where I live but nights are cold, down to around 4C and higher ground in my area will probably have to scrape car windscreens before going to work in the mornings. it snowed where i live, however the prospect of building a snowman was not to be, by the time dawn broke the snow had melted. My sister had her hopes dashed this morning. She had originally applied for a job as a kitchen assistant but her previous employer didn't bother to give her a reference ( we had contacted them several times but to no avail). As a result her job was offered to someone else. However, an other job for a housekeeper had arisen, so she enquired, the current employee wanted to either reduce her hours or leave, the decision? she decided not to leave or reduce her hours. ( how wonderful is that??) So it was back to square one, she has now applied for another job elsewhere, let's hope this one proves to be more successful than the last. One thing she won't be doing is using her previous employer as a reference. She will use her last one instead. Meanwhile I wait and wait for an interview for the jobs I have applied for this month, I expect thinsg to be a bit slow as it is only January. Going to start a book about my Mother growing up in the war years and up to the present day. Finding out information has been a bit hard but I am managing ok.

We had up to 20 cm of snow yesterday and it is starting up again. My son built a 2 meter snow thing (can't say man as it is a bit scary) and it was a nightmare getting to work yesterday. We had only 12cm on Tuesday but didn't make it up the hill near my home. Got stuck in snow along with a truck and 2 other cars. Had a bit of a panic situation so cried, rang my other half and asked him to bring his mother to me to drive me home.. She is a pro!! Not a bother to her.
The man who clears our street dumped all the snow at the end of our road so had to dig it out before I could park yesterday. On Tuesday he put it beside my car and I couldn't open the door. He is a s**t

Going to get help from a work coach at my local jobcentre next week to find out about going on Work Choice . After a lot of hesitating I decided it was the only answer to the never ending job rejects I seem to have accumulated over the last year. Making an appointment was somewhat hard as they have never ending automated messages etc. Finally I got through to a human voice!! We can fit you in at 11.00am next Thursday. I gladly accepted their invitation so roll on next Thursday!!!

Have had some extraordinary e mail replies to some of the jobs I applied for recently, one message read 'the candidates we have chosen meet the criteria of what the company is looking for' another informed me that ' they need to have transferrable skills' when a family member read it their reply was 'so that means you have to be a chef one minute and a cleaner the next? I gave no response.

Having worked in the HR environment for many years I am shocked at the way some decisions are being made .. I remember applying for a full time job (part-time would not have been enough hours) I was stunned when the interviewee told me at the end of the interview I might be selected for job share and part time employment ... would not have been allowed within my previous employment :nono:

I have not seen any news this weekend although i know what the big news was. I was in central london working yesterday i heard there was a womans march. Did not notice a load of extra people in the city, normally you do. I do not understand what the purpose was as you cannot change the result now. But hey people felt they needed to make a point i suppose. I have been on so many protests in my life and in the past it felt that it could make a difference. But for many years now i think noone listens they do what they want anyway.

Brexit has lost my pension fund billions and others too... its just a huge mess those that created arent willing to repair and are leaving it to others to sort it...

I read an interesting article in the Guardian the other day that gave me a bit of hope. I'd never heard this before but apparently triggering Article 50 doesn't necessarily mean we'll only have two years to withdraw from the EU, nor does it mean that we HAVE to leave. The time we have can be extended and we can change our mind if enough people come to realise what a bad idea it is.

Also, even if we do leave it doesn't mean we couldn't rejoin very quickly (possibly under the same terms we have now) if we realise we've made a huge mistake. Most other members of the EU don't want us to leave because Brexit destabilises the whole region, encourages other countries to think about doing the same, is also helping to fuel the rise of ultra nationalism.

I think there's still reason to hope it won't happen, but we're going to have to suffer for enough people to change their minds that it creates a strong enough national feeling against it. :(

Job Update

The day dawned cold and frosty with a biting wind that swept through me as I walked to the jobcentre. Armed with a somewhat thin looking blue folder containing my CV and other information for the Job Coach I eventually reached my destination. A blast of warm air slowly began to thaw me out as I presented myself to the ever present security guard. He smiled and directed me to one of the three jobcentre staff located at their desks in the near corner of the office. I explained why I was there and was told ' Oh yes do take a seat on the coach and the job coach will be with you shortly'. I suppose it was my business attire that made the difference ( I had decided to dress up as if I was having a job interview, which I might add has always had a good impact ). I had visions of the jobcentre character from Bread appearing or shouting 'NEXT!! in a loud voice. After what seemed like an eternity the job coach appeared. She introduced herself and explained her role very clearly to me. Afterwards she processed the relevant information on her computer, my CV was well received , she did suggest that the font could be reduced from 12 to 11 ( great idea I thought).'Ok all the information has been referred to the organisation who will be helping you with your Work Choice, they will e mail next week. I thanked her for seeing me and left feeling positive about the outcome.

A very successful day, so I now await the e mail.

Afterwards she processed the relevant information on her compute my CV was well received , she did suggest that the font could be reduced from 12 to 11 ( great idea I thought).'Ok all the information has been referred to the organisation who will be helping you with your Work Choice, they will e mail next week. I thanked her for seeing me and left feeling positive about the outcome.

A very successful day, so I now await the e mail.

Great news and good luck, hope you get that email soon :)

I have had our rescue cat for nearly four months now . She is lovely but still scared and anxious over slightest thing. Today i had to get a friend daughter who is training to be a vet over to put her flea treatment on and get a coller on her. She just was under the bed for ages. I had to take her to the vets to sign onto a special scheme and they said i had to bring her. We tried for an hour to get her into the carrier meanwhile she **** herself with fear under my daighters bed. In the end i had to get the trainee vet again and she got her in the carrier. At the vets she shed a lot of hair and was trembling. They said it was stress. I do not know what happened to her on the streets before she was rescued but it must have been bad. We treat her so well as give her all the best we can it just feels a bit of a struggle some days. I just spent all day putting bricks around the fencing to make it cat friendly today as advised by the cat rescue. It was an exhausting sunday just to get it ready for her as she is showing interest in going out. She was watching from the window and looked so cute. I just hope it gets easier.

I am sorry kitty is so timid and stressed but I am sure she will get better, although trips to the vet are not appreciated by most animals, my 2 dogs visibly look horrified when they get put on the backseats of the car as that usually means a trip to the vet. And as she is showing an interest in exploring the outside surroundings it sounds as if she is getting a bit braver now. I am sure things will get easier, you seem to be doing a great job :)

Four months is only a short time for your cat to recover from her trauma, swmc66, but I'm sure she will eventually. I've been involved with the adoption of lots of unwanted cats and dogs, and have found them to be very much like humans in that early trauma can stay with them forever and mean they might always be nervous and easily stressed. Saying that, I've found cats recover better than dogs and I've never known a cat to not at least almost fully recover after being given plenty of time to settle into a new, loving home.

I've had my little dog for about six or seven years now and unfortunately he's forever going to be very damaged (though I love him to bits and have never regretted adopting him). As I say though, I've never known a cat not to settle down after time in a secure and loving home. One of my mum's cats, Pippin, used to hide away in small, dark spaces when she first adopted him. We didn't see him for days, but eventually he started venturing out after hours spent reaching in to give treats and stroke him and tell him what a lovely boy he was. He's now the most contented and placid cat in the world. :D

It sounds like you're doing all you can for your Luna, swmc66, and I expect that you'll see a very gradual improvement as she feels more secure and learns to relax a bit. Unfortunately, as Perdita says, many animals (even those without difficult starts in life) hate and fear the vet with a vengeance and will fight tooth and claw against being taken. The last cat I had, Simba, used to look forward to going because he knew he'd get lots of attention there - but he's very much in the minority!!! :D

Good luck! http://www.city-data.com/forum/pictures/t/59/fba33245bcb33baf3cd5f333da038478_59495.gif?dl=1280 434485

Today at 10.00 am off I went for my interview at a beauty salon nearby, dressed in my business suite, I found the venue with ease as its located less than two minutes around the corner from the bus stop. I was there 15 minutes early, after entering the salon I was greeted with a cheerful 'Can I help you' to which my reply was 'I've an appointment with name of the manager,my name is .....' I was then told to wait for a few minutes. After a while she came downstairs and greeted me with a smile before ushering me upstairs to the interview room ( beauty room). It's just an informal chat she replied. After 10 minutes or so it was over, now I await the outcome. I will post the result soon.

Car travel is a real chore nowadays let alone trying to park at your destination. Take a bus as often as possible . I bet you'll find a phone app with bus routes ,e.t.a.'s for various stops Splashy. As far as mobility scooters are concerned they can be a nightmare for pedestrians. oh so true Glen

Spent today at my flat with a lovely letting agent, my second quote on renting the property. 25 quid down on the first one but they do a package whereby they rent the property off me and let it so its not my problem but theirs if the renter ends up on "cant pay we will take it away" on TVs channel 4 :ninja: ,, even paying their fees for that earns me more interest than if I sold the property and put the money in a savings account. .. our country hates and punishes savers.

Local lecky company installed new metre reader , the chap was very pleasant and we had great banter, mainly him moaning that my spark had made his job hard becaouse of the placement of the power box.

A Hit and A miss thou was the man quoting for two new storage heaters, apparently they need to be constructed individually by German elves from parts imported from never never land and installed by engineers shipped in from Venus and would be around 4 grand  But we would get a discount if the Venus engineers could come on a set day when others where having there gold plated hand made heat boxes of joy installed... dont get me started on his closing pitch about how I should pay a deposit now because they where German and how more expensive they might be next week due to currency falls due to Brexit. Yeah cant kid a kidder, i did closing sales courses for years meself. ABC

A Hit and A miss thou was the man quoting for two new storage heaters.....
I'm sure Splashy some of these guys after they've completed their college training and qualified ,then sign up for an additional final course on how to
bull***t prospective clients. What they forget, as you've said, we've heard it all before. Some 3 or 4 years ago I was looking to get our front drive resurfaced with tarmac. Made contact with a firm (yellow pages, half page advert which contained enough emblems ,awards ,crests etc. to sink a ship)
A man duly turns up carrying a clip board and one of those measuring wheels ( the type used by contractors for big road or pavement surfacing jobs) I should say our drive measures about 18 foot X 7 foot. The man tells me he needs to measure the drive , I tell him 18x7, not satisfied with this he starts pacing up and down the drive with this wheel thing, so many times I lost count. He then writes down copious notes ,says he'll need a JCB style digger and a team of 7 guys for a week to complete the job . After stopping myself bursting into laughter he left and said he'd pop a quote in the post. This turned out to be £6,500. Needless to say his "kind" offer was declined. The work was eventually done very satisfactorily by two guys in a couple of days for just over a grand.

:cheer: ... you dont happen to know any decent storage heater installers in the south do you Glen ... seems like youre the no messing about with me kind of fella that I need helping me sort out this annoyance... Ahhh but i will get there, will get back in the phone next week and sort this.

Im still chuckling over the fact the guy today with the 4 grand quote for storage heaters said, "oh and they are easy to take with you when you move just lift them off the brackets and away you go" As a landlord the last thing you want is for your tenants to be able to walk off with your 4 grand worth of heaters

Why am I awake at 5.20am :wall:

Glen1
22-02-2017, 15:06
I'm not that smart Splashy, as you've said ,a lot of it is down to a gut feeling. All that I can say is maybe consider a recommendation from someone you know and trust. Direct contact with a reputable storage heater supplier in your area may be able to recommend a qualified person for supply and installation. As far as radiator security is concerned get the installer to drill the bracket and and fit an allen key headed bolt to secure it. This might prevent a spontaneous theft. Good luck, stick at it ,you'll crack the case. :)

Pyro , im assuming you mean dis likes, but then my disclaimer is that i know nothing about Twitter as I have never ventured there.

Social media from my point of view is infested with festering nasty coward types that are so brave sat behind their screens, they dont get their kicks from being nice, they foam at the mouth in being vile and more so when someone they target bites at thaeir trolling.

Im no expert but if you want to follow a person find their web site and if possible just follow them there, lots if they are well known have fan based forums or comment points that are moderated.

Dont let keyboard nasties upset you. they are such a tiny selection of who is on the net wanting to chat mist really nice souls just lurk those are the ones that are worth interacting with .

Have a conference in Leeds on Wednesday but going a night before otherwise i will have to get up 5 am on the day. Still recovering from flu and now my eye is swelling up. But i cant cancel now as hotel and train booked by work. Plus my aunt lives in Leeds and she is my dads only living sibling now. He passed away many years ago and it is a good chance to see her at the same time. I would go even if i had to wear an eye patch. I just hope i get better by tomorrow though as this is getting very boring now. I hear its colder up north right now.

It s coming up on a year since I was totally agoraphobic for 13 years and living in a mess I cannot describe, really pushing now to have that flat rented out and not my problem anymore.

Splashy is soooo right about social media being toxic, so well done for stepping away. I have accounts on Twitter and Facebook but rarely use them (except to post petitions and the like).

There's more and more evidence coming to light every day that sinister forces are using social media to manipulate opinions and elections - even more reason to stay away!!!

In Leeds spent the last 3 hours trying to sleep. So much noise and felt like i was in the Bahamas. Too hot . It was their air conditioning unit which they came and switched off just now. I thought it was their boiler and piping system.i could not even have access to the internet at the beginning as i am on the 5th floor. You are supposed to have free complimentary internet as part of the package. I even switched on to my mobile data use and it still would not work. They said floor 6 only has a problem. Now they realise it is floor 5 too. I am sure they knew that before. So now they have given me premium fast internet for free when i probably will only use it for 15 mins. This is one of the best hotels around here. I just want to be in my own bed at home as still feel poorly. Eye still sore even though i started the day putting ice on it....my husbands idea. Not sure it made any difference.

Have appointed a lettings agent to rent out my flat, I took a hit on the PCM amount as I rented out the flat to the agent who will be the landlord to any tenant. You see I have a stalker who will see it come up for rent and anyone can see on the net that I havent sold it, just google your own property and be amazed that out there is when you bought it and when.

Anyway, no one ever takes me seriously, I mean I prosecuted him for harassment over 6 years yet even my sister said Oh he would of forgotten you by now. Only 4 months ago he launch a cyber attack on me... oh that was just a coincidence. I mean in that case the guy must of just accidently moved 20 miles to be in the flat across the grass the second his restraining order ended. But yes several people have said that to me too.

Personalty I hope he does try to rent the flat revealing who he is, then I can get the Police to visit him. But the weak point in this is the lettings guy, who like so many just looked at me blnkly when I said you will get a visit from my stalker.

Wow Im a bundle of fun tonight :ninja::rotfl:

As for this stalker, if you have his name please consider reporting your concerns to the police and get it logged. If you decide to, make an appointment at a main police station, ( possibly Southampton ?) to see a ranked police officer. From the stalkers name he can be traced by the police from the electoral register, DHSS.e.t.c., he may already be known . The police may then be able to give this guy some serious advice.

I have a good dentist here in Spain but I miss my dentist in Germany ... here he wants to do root canal or extraction when it is not really necessary.. I refused both last year and the tooth ache disappeared and has not come back by treating it with coconut oil ... my dentist in Germany would have fought hard for me to keep the tooth, not necessarily telling me to cover it in coconut oil a few times a day but he certainly would not have recommended extraction or root canal treatment :nono: Stick with this one you have, sounds he is a great dentist

I was stalked once by someone who worked in the same building as me. I got very ill and started taking sleeping tablets.
My every move was watched and he would be waiting from the point i parked my car in the morning. So i started parking further away...thats when i got mugged by someone.. anyway to cut a long story short things came to an end when he went missing for 2 days and then got sectioned under the mental health act. I as so frightened when he went missing as i thought he would turn up at my house. I had kept all if this from my husband because he would have just gone and beaten him up. At obe point i would not leave my office until i knew he was out of the building. My fellow workers went and got my lunch etc because the minute i opened my door he would be standing there. I was 35 and he was 62 caretaker of the building.

I too was stalked once ... I had to park outside my apartment and as soon as I got home from work the phone would ring but nothing would be said. The phone would ring every few minutes, I bought an answering machine and still the calls would come and nothing was said. At weekends the calls were fewer but what frightened me was that I was obviously being watched. I changed my phone number which stopped the calls as I was extremely careful who I gave the new number to ... but I moved to a different area shortly afterwards as I was quite scared to carry on living where I had been

He is having a heart operation on Tuesday so one of his brothers is coming over today and will land at Healthrow at 5pm . I forgot how they could be like. They are lovely people but ring all the time . When he had a heart attcak i had to deal with their 10 calls a day and be at the hospital twice a day and look after my family plus my elderly mum and hold down two jobs. I remember when i was very heavily pregnant a guy raced to a seat to stop me getting it on the tube. I used to travel one and half hours to work on the tube. Not many people give their seat up in London. It was a difficult pregnancy and i nearly lost my baby at one point. The next time i got pregnant i left that job and took another job nearer home losing all my maternity rights just so i did'nt have to stand on a tube for ages.

Went into town this morning to find out if my DVDs were in, the chap in the music shop was very helpful and is going to chase up my order. On the way back I decided to take a walk through one of the parks, up on one of the banks rows of daffodils were swaying in the breeze, birdsong was in full force, collard doves and wood pigeons. As I approached the small walkway leading to the main road a pair of black and white cats were chasing each other ( it turns out they are brother and sister), they paused for a while and slowly walked toward me, softie as I am with animals I just had to stroke them, ( cue the purrs). After 5 minutes I had to go.

Now its lunchtime and afterwards I am having a clearout, most will go to charity, the rest? in the bin!!! ( providing I sort it out correctly).

Can I suggest that anything that you deem not fit for charity, but that might still be of use to someone, be offered for free on Freegle, Freecycle or Gumtree? It's amazing what people will take free of charge! Since I discovered these websites I've barely had to throw anything out (that wasn't actual rubbish). Even most of my broken and/or filthy items (that had been stored in my garden shed for years) were taken during a huge clearout I had when I moved house last year.

Items can also be requested - which is great for people who are short of money (I've requested and received two items so far).

I volunteer as a moderator on Freegle (which is a registered charity that exists to keep usable items out of landfill and so help the planet a little). :)

Do you have something like Gumtree or Craigslist in your area? They often have a freebies section, or you could just advertise things in the most appropriate section with a zero price tag. I've even seen things listed on eBay with prices set at £0.01 (presumably eBay don't allow members to list things completely free).

An injured cat comes into my garden daily. Half its neck has be damaged and fur hanging off. It have reported it to both RSPCA and Celia Hammond Rescue but they are too busy right now. So i have been feeding it and its getting closer and closer and waits for me in the morning. As i have been feeding the cat i have ended up with the whole neighbourhoods cats.
I know they say you should not feed them but how can i not when i am feeding the one i want to catch. I did'nt realise there are so many cats without homes its really sad. If i was on my own i would take another couple in easily. I have had my own cat for 6 months. Its been a nice addition to the family. I can sit in meetings and all i think about is my cat. How mad is that!

You're doing a very good thing by feeding and trying to catch the poor injured cat. I'd be surprised if every single one of the other cats who are eating your food are strays. Even well-fed cats will often eat food if it's on offer. It's so tragic that there are so many strays though. :(

When you've caught the cat you're after, if you decide to stop putting food out I'd reduce it gradually rather than stop it suddenly.

I am a member on a local FB page where I can sell/buy/exchange things and the good thing is that meetings can be arranged to view items and therefore you don´t pay postage which is horrendously expensive here in Spain. There are also weekly markets where people have stalls so again avoiding postage :)

I think 3 are strays thats including injured cat and 2 have homes and i tend to give them just treats. The ones i think are strays look very uncared for and have scratches etc. Plus very hungry. My friend has found a lady who can help trap the cat. Having said that she looks like she is improving daily. She loves this area and think she would not like to leave it. I think i will always put a bit of food out for the cats.

That is very kind of you, cats will find shelter but food is not so easy for them. I get so very upset when I see stray cats and dogs, so many here get dumped and the shelters are overfilled ... breaks my heart.

I can totally understand why people set up rescue centres and give so much of their time and why people leave money to such charities now.

We've just signed up "Menopause the Musical" for the West Cliff Theatre on 18 March next year. It stars Ruth Berkeley, Rebecca Wheatley (formerly of Casualty), Maureen Nolan (one of the Nolan Sisters) and....Hev herself, Cheryl Fergison!

I am pleased to say that this has sold out! So, if you were thinking of coming to Clacton this Saturday to see our Hev, I'm afraid you're too late to get a ticket.

I am so exhausted that i fell asleep in the Dentist waiting room today. They called me three times and in the end had to shake me to wake me up. On Sunday i crawled up the stairs to sleep as I had visitors for about 12 hours none stop. They all came to see my husband who had the heart op. This weekend i am going to go to my office and work and it will be more restful than being at home. they are not letting him rest and he feels he cannot turn them away and will not let me turn them away either. So i will leave them to it. At least the weather is nice for a change

It sounds like leaving them to it is the best thing all around. I hope you get as much rest as possible and manage to recover your energy - you'll be no good to anyone if you too become ill, so you need to make it a priority to look after yourself. :)

I am in absolute agony, tripped over a kerbstone, hit my right side of the face, blood from mouth, blood from bridge of nose and not sure if I have fractured my right cheekbone... wanted to have a St Paddy´s celebration later .. think I will give that a miss ...hopefully painkiller and ice pack will prevent me looking like a battered woman tomorrow :(

Oh no that is awful you must get that seen. I collapsed once and my nose got damaged not that you would notice but if it got hit again i would not be so lucky. Got that after fainting after having a very hot baked potato in Teeside Airport. Noone noticed i had fainted and kept on eating.

Omg swmc, that is terrible, surely somebody must have seen you go down when you fainted!!??!!"?
I had 4 coppers around me, one female is my neighbour and she had 3 male colleagues .. never felt more embarrassed .. if I feel any different to just being in pain I shall seek medical help but so far, I am sure I will be fine ..

I echo Dazzle's advice swmc66 - take some time out to look after yourself (& I really hope your husband is doing well after his heart operation!).

So sorry to hear of your nasty fall Perdita. I hope you are ok & the ice & painkillers help. I don't like the sound of the possible cheekbone fracture - it might be advisable to see the doctor about that regardless, especially if it is higher on your cheek, up towards your eye socket!

This time last year, my wife tripped while getting onto the train at Central Sydney & her leg went down between the platform & the train. Luckily our daughter was with her & the people around her also came to her aid. She had a really nasty gash on her shin & the station medical guy couldn't stop the bleeding, so the paramedics were called to cart her off to hospital. She was mortified at all the fuss. She ended up with about 8 stitches (& had complications later which went on for about 6 mths - but that is another story!!) - but the main thing is, while the gash was the main problem, at the hospital they also took x-rays as they thought she may have broken her leg. Luckily that wasn't the case. So it might be a good idea if you get your cheekbone looked at Perdita, just in case.

Look after yourself & I hope you are feeling better.

I am fine, just in discomfort and bruised cheek and big scab on my nose ... luckily I had new passport photos done a couple of days ago, otherwise I would have had to wait a couple of weeks ... :p Thank you all for your kind words, all making me feel so much better :)

After waiting for what feels like forever I finally had word from my local record store that my dvds were ready for collection:cheer:. I was delighted to get them, the complete series of Hetty Wainthropp investigates, and Cannon and Ball series 1-7. My Saturday nights will now be filled with laughter and quite possibly tears rolling down my face at the many sketches they did.:rotfl:I grew up with variety shows on tv, Tommy and Bobby being my favourites. Going to spend an hour at the library doing my ancestry project and a week on Tuesday a genealogist is coming to the library and I have a half hour appointment to try and unravel my Dad's side!!! which so far seems to be heading nowhere fast!!! Let's hope I have some success soon!!!

If you are interested you can get the dvds from Amazon but they usually are used or not in good condition, however there is another website that specialises in tv shows etc which is called network.com. My local record shop ordered them from this site.

Note to self.. avoid at all costs a Sat night in with Pyro :ninja::moonie::angel:

Ah for me my star trek obsession continues, watching next gen as we speak  But it also may explain why I have no friends.

For me genealogy is a sore point, I hate the royals and all they stand for but a cousin proved that we Splashys have a tenuous link to the blood line that rules, its almost as bad as being related to one of the Kadachians.:wall:
