I am always too scared to look up when i hear that this is happening . I got up early as usual today and my son was sat up and he said he had not slept all night. He has not been able to see at all at night and his day vision has gone worse. I quickly got him to A and E and then got to go to an eye clinic by 8am. They said that he had a piece of metal in his left eye and that he was one of 10% of the population that can easily tear their retina. But for now he is ok as they took the metal out. He is 18 and asked me to get him vitamins, carrots and carrot juice as his froends have been looking up on the internet. Just bought this stuff for him. He was worried he was about to go blind. It was awful. He did not want to tell me as he thinks i have too much already with caring for 4 other family members. Now i am going to try and sleep.
Your poor son must be so worried about that eye, I am glad they were able to take the metal out. How on earth did that get in there? I guess he needs to go for regular check-ups now to make sure that the retina is ok. Hopefully you are going to have a break from worrying about your family and are able to get some well deserved rest.
I totally emphasise with your son SWM.. Ive been losing my vision all my life so Ive got used to it, but to suddenly have it threatened over one night must be devastating.
But isnt the NHS brilliant. They obviously stepped up and sorted this horrendous issue promptly.
Just booked a B&B in Cowes for next week, 50 quid includes breakfast.. not told landlady.. but intend to move around the island for a while looking for a rental for the winter....I cant stand living here much longer.. I want to be on my home island
Thanks. He kept it from me for 2 months that's the worst bit. Now he has to be aware of any changes and act immediately in future. He gets his A level results Thursday and plans to go Nottingham University. I wish he would stay in london so i could make sure he is ok.

Us blokes need good mums like you to sort us out... its a male trait to go curl up in a corner rather than go and get medical help
My belief is he will be fine, Im no professor but Ive spent enough time at the eye hospital with sufferers to know he is now in the right hands.
Actually the only ones at the eye hospital I really do feel for in a major way are those having direct injections into their eye balls to treat wet maculaaurs. its a brilliant fix to a horrible sight issue but boy oh boy those geezers look like they would pay millions not to be there let alone have to come back next week for another injesction.
I think Ive fought the fire on the home front, I can only hope "some" stick to their scripts, they dont seem to understand what peril they are in if they dont... now thou pandoras box is open Ive come across a new hellish mess concerning a will.
Last night one of the rich neighbours here had a huge Asian party, with very loud music and dancing... I was fuming ... I mean why didnt they invite me it looked like great fun.
My niece fascinates me, she has pink hair, brilliant tattoos and hula hoops for a living around the world. Her current hoops are programmable LED ones. this is the lady who spent new years eve being a mermaid in the infinity swimming pool in the Shard. She stayed here for two days and land lady loved it.
At least she is not boring! My son got into Nottingham University his first choice for a masters programme in Maths. Not sure what his results were as they get notification of a place before they pick up their results. They were asking for an A*AB or AAA. So he must have done well. He wants to go there so i will not persuade him to stay in London. I will miss him.
Math aint boring swm... it is the core that are modern life is based on, no math = no smart phone and we have to go back to counting on our fingers. .. math can also be sexy, watch Rachel on on Countdown I mean the lady cant dance but who cares when you look like that.:ninja:
Been making sure my smart phone has all my telly on it ready for me hols on Monday..BB owner keeps texting me now re it, beginning to wonder if his first name isnt really Norman and surname Bates. If you never hear from me again, well post the celebrations about that, please know I loved you all and didnt on a drunk night last July pee behind the sofa in the chill out room of the Emmerdale current thread.

:rotfl:
You would think we would be celebrating today but my son and his friend have been really down.
My son decided not to go Nottingham and go to Surrey to be with his friend plus rent was cheaper
Then the whole accomodation issue depressed them as the rent is just under 4k and the maintenance loan is just about that for food and rent. I would have to help him and he feels bad about that. His friend gets a bursery of some sort as parents not working. Anyway they both were in tears at one point. So sad
Sounds like me that one.... i like to plan and prepare in detail. Can get on peoples nerves
Im sure he will be able to get some part time work to top up his income, bar work ASDA etc. Its also good to get into the work place and learn the realities of life.
Got my new passport, its good to have some photo ID again.
I was thinking to get him to write to Tuition centres so he could teach maths. I will get him a DBS check here so he can even do one to one tuition if he wants.
Cathartic rant alert!!!!
for those of easily bored nature I suggest you scroll on down
Feeling very guilty right now, have let slip about my trip to Cowes to landlady, had to do it when with company to soften the back lash, I announced i as me going on holiday, landlady has presumed that its just one night, I didnt correct her but she got vexed when I started saying I need a suit case... "oh you will only need a new t shirt and one boxers" yikes ... I have a minimum 3 days booked across the island and in all events I have booked appointments to see possible new lets for me to live in over the winter.
I just cant live here, it in the middle of nowhere specially bordering on the we never do anything community I cant drive anywhere re me peepers and the bus service can only take you somewhere as just as tedious but not on a weekend or bank holiday. Even the landlady is bored smegless, there is only so many times you can go to ASDA in a week.
Im a social animal, I need a local to blend into, somewhere with a view of the sea and not just piles of pigging leafs that Im then required to rake up and stuff in a bin while nasty wood spiders try and land on my head or sleep in my bed.
All I do here is stay in my rented room an watch telly, Ive actually even having all the channels o UK TV run out of telly to watch.
Its not been fun here recently, I have the dosh so its time to move on.
Cathartic rant alert!!!!
.
Wouldn't have thought you have anything to feel guilty about Splashy. Not possible to go through life trying to please everyone. Go where your heart and head tells you, and for what satisfies you. I'm sure If you spot a new home ,that ticks the boxes , you'll know as soon as you see it. Good luck with the quest.

what a traumatic time I had at Newcastle station on 13th of this month. Having had a lovely holiday in Northumberland the manager of the place where I was staying very kindly took me and another guest to one of the railway stations nearby to catch our train to Newcastle. What I didn't expect was a train packed like a sardine tin full of Newcastle supporters !!! I had to stand all the way clinging on to my heavily laden suitcase and other bags. The conductor was not able to move through the train to give tickets. So on arrival at my destination I asked him if I could purchase my ticket, he told me not to bother, what happend next was awful, I had a terrible anxiety attack. I e mailed Northern trains that same day and told them what happend, they replied 4 days later and suggested I send a cheque to Arriva trains north plus a letter explaining things. I also made sure I included the e mail from customer services too. I rang them today and spoke to a young lad who was probably half awake, he gave me no support whatsoever. So I rang again later and spoke to a female adviser who really understood my problem. I am now waiting for them to phone me back. Its left me feeling sick with worry, I can't sleep properly, and my food intake is not good either.
You must not feel anxious nobody is going to take any action against you. Your very honest and they can see that.

thank you so much, just to update I saw a brilliant counsellor the other day, gave me 100%+ help and I was able to get rid of my stress and inner problems. She gave me loads of advice and relaxation exercises to do EVERY day:thumbsup: also I went to my local CAB and they rang Northern trains for me, told them my situation and a customer services chap called Nathan spoke to me ( by this time I was sobbing) :crying:he was sooooooooooooooooooo re-assuring and told me in a broad nothern dialect ' you'll not get fined or anything, don't worry, I will ave a look in the post tomorrow ( Wednesday) and call you back ( Wednesday) or Thursday, and don't worry'. I am now waiting for them to phone me on my mobile.:) Just to add I suffer from GAD and had it diagnosed in 1992. on a recent appointment my GP suggested I take antidepressants but I didn't like the idea so instead I take max strength St Johns Wort which are helping me a lot.
Hi Pyro ... I was unable to post before now as I can read stuff on my smart phone but trying to post is impossible re me bad peepers.
Getting on to a train full of ramped up foot baller supporters.. sounds like hell to me.. totally NOT irrational to get anxious in that situation.. indeed the very fact you made it is a positive and thats is what we who suffer issues like this need to embrace. POSITIVES
I also suffer OCD... I comprehend the pain of not doing the right thing and having the issue of rerunning conversations from last week or even centuries ago running through your head... its an illness ...
Im sending you my positive thoughts. ..
Im back BABY.. sorry quoting a Joey line from friends .
Had three nights on my dream Island, four days of narrative which could make it into the final cut of any sitcom...
Id like to thank my White cane as my tool of choice in making the unreal happen! I mean seriously I only really use it to cross roads, even on crossings you have to wait till the gits stop before walking, I mean I dont want to die so stick out the stick and wait till I can hear they have stopped. Especially on a Zebbra crossing you just cant risk it.
Oh and I would like to thank google maps that helped me to get to the Sandown train station after 30 minutes of saying not a word to help me.. loudly it pronouced yards from the Station. YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR DESTINATIONS ... umm that didnt go down well with me , the tyrant of abuse towards this inanimate usless device nearly only got me banned from Sandown but the entirity of the Ise of Wight.

That's what happens to me I keep re living the whole thing over and over, I have been crying a lot, I have stopped doing my hobbies, reading, family ancestory, and my keep fit. Even my job interview yesterday I thought was not as good as I wanted it to be. I am still waiting for Northern trains to phone me, they told me it takes 20 working days to reply !!!!!:wall::angry: I will pop along to my local CAB and get them to chase things up. The waiting is affecting me so much, I can't eat properly, concentrate like I used to, and worst of all I don't dream either. Thank you for your kind words splashy much appreciated.
flipping eck... came off hols right back into a family war zone :( Tried to be the peace maker and got shot down like some wayward drone over the White House.. I dont even know the full reason for the fall out, well I can guess, its about the evil one in Australia giving back the 25k she took from my Aunt which she said was being invested but it works out she was using it to front herself up as a hair dresser... Ive lost track of all these lies now.
Anywho land lady aka my good sister got into a ruck with them re whats happening, she was spot on with everything she said yet its her thats having to back down.. I mean these people dont grasp what they have done could earn some jail time , yet its us who are in the wrong.. beggers belief.
I wsnt even in the row and all I said or tried to say was dont pish off the one daughter who does everything for you over one that steals money and lives in Australia.. I wasnt able to get past youve upset.. before I was shouted down and eventually because I refused to be dragged into the argument that wasnt my argument told to shut up and then cut off .
Annoyingly land lady is letting it slide, they will again feel they have been aggrieved and where in the right just because we love them.
But I know all of this mess aggravation and fraud is the manipulation of our middle sister, Land lady cant see it but I do, but then middle sister hates me as I stopped her getting the other 75k and have in my own way made sure the initial 25k is now coming back to Aunts account. I knew I would pay for getting that done and cope all the blame, but its my Aunts money no ones eleses.
You did the right thing that is all that matter at the end of the day. This week has been a rollercoaster week, thought our son was going blind and rushed him to Moorfield emergency. He is ok got periferial changes to the retina and will have further investigations. Still cannot see at night. But i was crying the whole journey. I should have taken a friend. Yesterday took my friend to hertfordshire to get a special scan done for her cat. I have never been to such a posh vets in my life it was amazing with a pool and water therapy tank . But my friends cat has to be put down so going again today or tomorrow. I took another cat to the vets. Its been shot in the eye. So have become a volunteer driver for pets in and around east london. I like it a lot. Stops me worrying about other things. I must look up this GAD.
Well it sounds all positive now .. well apart from the poor cat.... yeah its the noggin you need to keep distracting or you get caught in a loop.
I miss my view of the Sandown pier from my hotel room.
Still nothing to do here, cant be arsed to go get on a bus that isnt actually running today as its the weekend to go somewhere further away where there still is nothing to do. Wow Im a bundle of fun today me.

I am glad you are going to look up GAD, its a terrible thing to suffer with, I was bullied at school from the age of 5 to 18 go no support at all, the same happend at work. I did manage to get support through GP referral with counselling.
I looked it up yesterday and you must be suffering a lot. It must be so hard being worried and anxious all the time. I do not know how you manage that. It is good that you still try and do things and try to overcome it. That shows strength.
I just went to Herfordshire again today. It was so sad. My friend was crying all the way there and back as her cat had to be put down. We sat in silence most of the time as it felt as that is what she wanted. I didnt realise i was holding the steering wheel so tightly through stress i have blisters on my hands now.

oh you poor thing! my sincere condolences to your friend, losing a pet is awful, having lots of memories helps, also getting a replacement is a good idea later on. Having GAD is awful, my GP suggested antidepressants, I refused and take high strength St Johns Wort. This anxiety attack I had recently matches the same one I had in 1992 when I was at college. I still haven't heard back from Northern trains, they are so slow. As each day goes by I pray that someone will e mail me or text me to let me know things are fine.
swm .. you were there for your friend when they needed you...
pyro ... I once got an Ocado delivery that came with a crate of un ordered wine, I begged the delivery guy not to leave it, he said Id signed for it now, I tried calling them to pay for it, they said they couldnt see it on their records so couldn't take a payment, they told me to give it to the next delivery driver I had.. he wouldnt take it, he said without paper work he could be accused of stealing it if he was found with it !!!! Ahhhhhh... I drank the entire crate to to try and forget the inner me who knows it isnt my wine but .......
Was meant to be going to see HMS Warrior today in Pompey, but land lady got the washing machine repair man in instead and said e will go tomorow , shes obviously not checked the weather for wednesday... HEAVY RAIN.:ninja: But then I only suggested we go in the first place as she was kicking off about me disappearing on holiday :moonie: Gawd if she found out I was looking for somewhere else to live Id be toast.:cartman::angel:
Ahh . I love my sister but shes making me want to buy a length of rope and a rickety stool of EBAY at the moment.:ninja:
I have to try that St Johns wart. Its hard working full time and being a carer. Can get too much. I think i will go to Holland and Barrett and get sone tomorrow.
Customer care in the Uk is not the best as we all know so try not to let it get you down. funny about the case of wine. Once i had two bottles of vintage champagne delivered from Harrods as a gift from my offce landlords. They did not know i do not drink so my staff got to take it home. They were thinking to get me chocolates.......which would have made my day.

St Johns Wort is great but check with your doctor if you are on any medication as SJW can interfere with them ... Champagne from Harrods .. I would have liked that too ... shame you did you not get chocolates :(
Ohhhhh Boy .. its spider time :ninja:
Got rid of four in the last hour .. dont like ending them but these ones are fast so you only have one option.
The one in the bath was huge, but the one in living room last year was bigger, as large as an open hand of a human.
Its weird, I used to run screaming from a room when the 8 legged ones came, but since I took one to the face!!!!

are there any future storylines for Aaron and David? will Toadie and Sonya get back together, what happens to Nell?
My son got halls of residence priority due to his eye condition. All places had gone. i was trying to read about his eye condition today but stopped half way through as i could not cope. Initial tests show He has peripheral myopic degeneration in both eyes. No night vision at all. I am weeks away from my daughters gastric bypass. The liver shrinking diet starts 3rd week September as does withdrawal of medicines. I have to buy 84 cans of heinz weightwatchers soup and 84 muller light yogurts. Four of each a day. She will be very grumpy throughout. She normally is very cheerful. I also have to get stuff for my sons uni and try and teach him to cook, wash and iron in 2 weeks.

Well I have had yet another job reject :crying:( the story of my life so far) from a local optician who told me that 'she has accepted ' ( the candidate) the job. I put my whole heart and soul into my 2 interviews, Also I have a feeling she is ageist why? well on my first interview she said 'I normally take on younger people who we can mould and hope will stay with us for a long time but after seeing you I might change my mind' well she didn't!!!:wall: I have been looking for work for 2 years since being made redundant. Also I still haven;t had any e mail from Northern Trains about my awful travel trauma, if I get a reply today I shall let everyone know, ( keep your fingers crossed that THEY WILL REPLY TODAY!!! AS ITS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH!!!)
UPDATE!!! I have at last heard from Northern trains today, :cheer::cheer:they sent an e mail to to me and said they 'appreciated my efforts and that as they put it, 'the case is now closed and is no longer an issue'. What a terrible and traumatic last few weeks I have had, now I can move forward and put thi:thumbsup::thumbsup:s behind me.
One day the right one will turn up. You are very resilient and should be proud of yourself. Most people would have given up by now.

swmc66 .. if ya lad is registered blind/severely sight impaired like me, he can apply to the local council to registered as such, allowing application for a blue badge he can use in any car he travels in, 1/3 off rail travel costing 20 quid if applied for and that includes anyone he travels with and free bus travel. Being blind sucks, but he must look at the positives and move on up wards.
Went for a walk earlier, fell on my face half way to the shops, tripped on a huge tree root that had forced up the public path some 6 inches, it destroyed my right shoe and bruised all the right hand side of me. Lat there for over ten minutes as it took the wind out of me. I will be having the obstacle removed via the council, my blindness was no excuses as it was bitch black on that corner and anyone could stumble and fall because of it.

Hope you did not hurt yourself too badly and get better soon. That tree root did not appear over night to force up the path .. should have been sorted a long time ago do prevent just this sort of thing happening
wow Perd, you where either up very late or very early last night :moonie:
No im fine, it was my fav shoes that took the hit, will be photographing it later and posting my thoughts on the councils website.. they do have a site that you can do all sorts of moaning about things like parking and paths etc
Fingers crossed I will win the euro lotto of 116 million tonight... if I do I will make sure I treat all my friends on here, cars boats holidays jewellery.. you name it, I will keep you all informed of what I buy myself.
He s not registered as anything right now. Although Assisted Learning Support at the University have him on their radar. When i say disability he does not see that he has a disability. I am trying to get him to apply for additional support under disability. He s not sure about that. Anyway i do not want to push him. It has all been too much for him. I will be taking him to Uni next weekend. I hope everything fits into the car. My middle daughter will be starting her open university law course in October .... but still got depression. Fingers crossed she will be able to complete ths one.
Just spent a couple of hours at my mums. She is so negative i felt my blood pressure going up. She makes me sound like a bad mum...a failed parent because all 3 of my children have medical conditions. Now thats not my fault. I am doing everything possible to support them. I told my mum that i would not be visiting her for 2 months. Thats because i have to get two through starting university and one through a major operation. I just cant do that and hear my mum voice her thoughts out loud and be extremely hurtful.
Had a fun day too with my pearants, love them to bits but they stopped being normal humans around the end of last century:ninja: :rotfl:
Dad did his usual, went to a RNIB event and paid 2 grand on the spot for some high tech glasses that read text into your ear, has facial recognition and other cool stuff,, he then had a three hour lesson on how to use them, but by the time me and sis get to see them he can hardly switch them on or get them to do anything.....:rotfl: .. the man never listens, or hasnt as far as I know since he drew his first cave painting.
Ive spent a few hours reading the manual online, the kit is pretty brilliant for the badly sighted like me, with a flick of your finger for example it will take a picture of a bus coming your way and tell you what number it is. Alas the purpose it was bought to do isnt possible, Dad reads his news papers flat on his desk using a camera that puts it on a monito in front of him, but the glasses need the paper to be held in front of you to read it.... he dosent want to do that and cant see why it thus wont work ... :wall:
Swm your boy needs to embrace the disabled identity, one good thing or bad thing is that no one can see your visually impaired unless Shep is walking you or like me you carry a white stick, thou im surprised from what you said of his diagnosis that he isnt automatically been registered at least as sight impaired with his local council.
He will accept it with time. Thanks
Flipping words are going skewey now on me screen, even at mag 600% Im now missing words when reading and typing.. dam you maculaurs :wall::wall::wall:
Land lady came home today in a real strop, shed spent last night under the stars with 20 girl guides after a day of activities, lets just say she didnt get much sleep.. if there was a pub here I could of walked to I would of..alas no busses either on a weekend round here.
Bought a new case for my Edge s7, love my phone so much wanted to make it robust, then realised I didnt even have a screen protector on it so just ordered that.
Also updated my RAID protection on my credit and debit cards as the covers where getting scruffy. I love contact less payment but I dont want any tool scanning my cars while they are in my wallet and taking 30 quid just like that.
My sons at Uni now and loving it. He has a really nice room twice the size of other students through the learning support team. They really support students with disabilities. I am so impressed. Got him his Tesco shopping...stuff that does not need cooking basically so he will be ok for a week. It took me hours cleaning his room at home. I did not think you could get so much stuff under a single bed. Its spotless now. Strange passing his empty room though.
Now physically have my Blue Badge parking thing.. sister openly laughed at my picture on it :crying: But it means I can now apply for my free bus pass, believe me they do not make that easy, needs to be in PDF format and I needed my blue badge number to apply... non of the other proofs did I have even thou Im registered blind.
Wow, had to download free trial of paint shop pro to adjust size of my pictures of proof letters etc then down load software to convert those jpeg files into PDF files, then do it again as they were still too large :wall: They dont make it easy and they want to take a web cam pic of you live.. long since covered over that bleeder as I dont want to get hacked and watched.. got round that one with a bit of tech. In short they really dont want to give anyone an easy route to a bus pass that covers the whole of Britain not just your country,, fingers crossed it goes throu.
Oh Boy, Im addicted to watching Morgan and Susana on itv am thingy, the faces she pulls when he makes a twonk of himself are hilarious as for the arguments he gets into, surreal.

only two weeks left and my daughter will have her gastric bypass. I have asked my sister to be with me on the day as i will fall apart when they take my daughter to theatre. Going to Surrey tomorrow to drop of stuff to my son and show his dad his place. I did not take him on the first day as it would have been too much for him. Just sent him videos and photos throughout the day. He missed out poor thing.

Sorry to hear that .. maybe they did not want to overload you with information, starting somewhere new can be quite overwhelming for a couple of days until you get used to how things are done. I am sure they felt you could work alone otherwise they would not have offered you the job .. better luck next time :)
Oh no hope next one works out well.

thank you, I can't be left unsupervised as I suffer from GAD, this job would have involved being on my own all day.
Pyro you had me wondering what GAD is... but then I realised that its a term for free floating anxiety.. I have it now, it comes and goes with no seeming cause that I can identify in my self.. so now your posts make clear to me what hell you are going throu.
Had my monthly pedicure today, not many blokes can say that. :ninja:

I was thinking of your book writing today as i went to the Newham book shop this afternoon. I love that place. Great news on how well its going with your books.

Loving using my blue badge, made parking so much easier at the library, normally as Im blind parking is the worst point of my driving experience now all I have to do now thou is avoid the trees and any other cars on the road and I will be tikkitie boo.
I applied for a disability badge for my husband. Its a nightmare right now as i will not let him drive following him collapsing on the street in July. That means i am picking and dropping him to medical appointments etc all the time. His friends are helping too. But it is really difficult when i have to get him to the front of buildings so he does not have to walk much. Anyway a few more days and my daughter will hopefully be having her operation. Just trying to avoid getting the flue right now is hard as there is a bug going around. If she gets flu/cold then they would cancel op.
My daughter had her gastric bypass a few hours ago. Its taken a while to get to this point. Such a relief.

I am caring for my daughter 24/7 right now after her operation. So many medicines and liquid diets i have to keep notes. She looks good and i look awful! Four of my friends are cooking for me now so i do not have to worry about the rest of the family. I started asking for help on Saturday when i so desperately needed it . I broke down in tears as i had been in hospital for a solid 14 hours and was worried about my husband and daughter at home who i also care for. But all is good now. I just hope my cat does not get me up at 2.30am like she did this morning! i think she is taking revenge as i was not around to pamper her for 3 days.

There is something seriously wrong with me, I enjoy Peirs Morgan of a morning :wall: what next will I vote Trump for world leader :cartman:
She did it again at 3am although i put dried food down to avoid this. Now i have to stand in the garden while she does her business. I have two fresh little trays for her in the house but no she wants to go outside first thing. I am sure this is aging me. I saw the sky turn a strange colour too .....scary. My sister has asthma so i hope she was ok as its dust from far off somewhere.
Cat Nip is my second suggestion, get the puddy cat stoned off its mind at bed time :ninja:
What was scary about yesterday was how many people didnt even notice the red yellow black sky! Too busy living a virtual world in their phones I guess come the Apocalypse they wont even notice the space monsters eating them.

While my car was parked on my street for 4 days while i was in and out of hospital someone damaged my car ....hit and run.
So have had my car taken for repair and got a coutesy car that is too fancy and technical i am too scared to drive it!
As its a hit and run i have to pay excess plus paid extra insurance for hire car as not sure someone is hitting cars deliberately as two others has dents and scapes like mine. Anyway i do not need all this right now.
A burger and a pint at Withespoons in Winchester for £7.49 .. bargain .. I let land lady come with me and bought her wine and a burger. .. well she had to pay 6 quid for her ticket while I used my bus pass so I had to make up for that... it was a good treat. Shes now watching Harry Potter as she says Winchester always reminds her of it...needless to say Im not watching ...bless her :ninja:

Got to volunteer drive today for cats protection. A woman is being evicted so has to give up her 3 cats. I saw in the news the other day the same thing was happening to a man and his dogs and rather than live without them he took his life. Apparently the Council would not let take his dogs to his new flat. People do not realise pets are like family.

Currently in a hotel called The Savoy in Bournemouth it's 12 degrees outside yet the heating is on full hair it's like a sauna I have the window fully open and are still baking... on the plus side I have full wifi and are catching up on my TV.... had a great day wandering down the prom... the room is very pokey but they wanted to charge £90 for it I got them down to 50 still not worth the money. But it is amazing how would you explain to someone your visually impaired they then suddenly expect you to be able to fill in a form with a pen and don't get me started on how they can't understand you can't read the menu at breakfast all know where the hell to go to get the food I'm thinking of the last hotel I was in the other side of the Bay I literally fell down the stairs nobody gave her a fig they just presumed I was drunk I was holding my white stick at the time but they didn't seem to understand what that meant they ain't going to get a good review on TripAdvisor

Still shocked at the drop of 90 off percent of euro nurses applying to come and work here and all the gov can say is that they are boosting home training for nurses while still paying rubbish money.. if they do get trained here the first thing they will do is move abroad for better money.
Im lucky I have no loans but today was a bad day for those in debt.
My surgery have gone insane. You can't book an appointment, you have to book for the doctor to phone you and decide if you need an appointment. If a doctor isn't free to phone that day you have to go there/call again the next day, they don't just add you to tomorrow's list. Time to change I think.
Congrats on your colour change, Splashy.
They are convinced a lot of people are wasting GPs time so another new scheme by the looks of things. The thing i mind is when receptionist try and get your illness details and act as the gateway to the Dr. At one time we had to see a pharmacist and they had to decide whether we needed to see a GP. It was awful being asked what was wrong with you in a queue at the chemist. I refused to be part of this scheme and so did others so it did not last long. Tell them you will go to A and E when they refuse to see you. Their funders dont like that.
I hate going to the doctor as I always feel bad that I am wasting time even though I am really sick. I never go for a cold. Had to go today and found I have some stomach bug and I am on a liquid diet (soup or broth only) for the next 2 weeks.

Wrong attitude, any doctor will tell you that you are never wasting their time and some illnesses are better found out sooner rather than later... I hope you get better real soon xx
I always write down a list of my symptoms so I dont waste their time rambling on or leave haven forgotten to ask a question etc
But then I ended up in a farce last time where I couldnt find the right door and even when she came out and was calling for me in the corridor I could hear her but couldnt see where she was due to me poor peepers. Very embarrassing.

You are so right, Perdita! (& I hope you are feeling better soon, Siobhan!).
Us guys are notorious for not wanting to go to the doctor when we should. Earlier this year my wife reckoned that a skin tag thing on my back had gotten bigger & that I should get it checked out. It took some convincing, but eventually I relented & went to the doctor about it. While it turned out benign (they did a needle biopsy), the doctor suggested I have a full checkup & blood tests etc, as it had been quite a while (ie many years!) since I had anything done. These tests showed up some "anomalies", & so it is now 6-8 months later & over that time I have had an ECG, heart stress tests, CT Scans, Renal Ultrasounds & a battery of blood tests (even a gene mutation test!!).
The results? While my ticker appears to be OK, it seems I only have 50% kidney capacity left now (they reckon I would have been born with less than 100% to begin with). I have to have my blood pressure taken every 3 months from now on plus a kidney function blood test every 6 mths - any deterioration & it's back to the specialist. Needless to say my family weren't thrilled to hear that I may have to come looking for a kidney one day! Haha!
I also had to see a haematologist for more tests. So it also turns out my blood is too thick - producing too many red blood cells - & is at a level which leaves me at somewhat of a high risk of blood clots or a stroke! I have had to take aspirin daily for the past couple of months to try & thin my blood out, & have to go back in early December to see if that is working. If not, a bone marrow biopsy is the next step (which the doc reckons can be a bit painful!!). Hopefully it won't come to that! (In the meantime, he said to come back straight away if I ever have chest pains or slurred speech etc!).
Considering this all started with the little skin thing on my back, each of the doctors has said to me "I suppose this has all come as a bit of a shock to you?". You can imagine my response! When they asked if I am feeling ok, I said that I was before, but I am not so sure now!!!
I suppose the moral to all this, as Perdita has importantly pointed out, is that you should always go to the doctor no matter how small your condition/illness is, or how much a waste of time you think it might be. Again, as Perdita said, it is better to find some things out sooner rather than later. After her own health scare late last year, my wife insisted I go to the doc this time. If I hadn't found all this out now, & hopefully can take steps to control/monitor it all, then it may have been a much bigger problem further down the track.......
(Sorry to inflict this little rant on you guys, but I am feeling a bit anxious leading up to my return visit to the haematologist in December - I am a bit 'doctored out' at the moment!)
So sorry Pantherboy about your medical condition but glad you did go to the doctor and you are now getting the right treatment and check-ups.
sending you a manley cyber hug Pantherboy ...your appointment will go fine.

Further insanity through from surgery by text today: No repeat prescriptions can be ordered through the surgery. Patients now have to phone between 9am and 5pm or order them online (after registering with 2 pieces of ID, no information given as to what is deemed acceptable.)
Fairly sure that's going to run into problems with people who work 9-5, people who don't have the internet and people who's ID isn't considered acceptable...
Oh and they want 7 working days for it to be ready. Why replace a service with an even slower one?!
Last year when I joined this practice they told me too to register using photo ID, I had none! Not been outside in 13 years so had no photo driving licence or passport. Cant get a driving licence one, think they dont like people waving a white stick driving so had to cough up 90 odd quid for a passport I will never use. But then that did make it possible for me to get a free bus pass and disabled parking badge.
It could be way worse, if we lived in America and couldnt afford health insurance it would be the free clinics for us and ya dont want to go there.. add to that Trump wants to make the poor suffer more by removing Obamma care, simply because he wants to destroy anything Obama did.
But then, I dont know if anyones been to hospital recently, but I really cant see how we will replace the out going non british heath professionals who will leave to somewhere which will guarantee they can stay and not just promise them a few years maybe before they are asked to leave.. well done Brexiteers :wall:
My mum is at the same surgery and she will be in a similar quandry if they do insist on photo ID. She has an old paper driving licence which is valid until she's 70. If she is still able/wanting to drive at that age the renewal will be free unless they change the rules in the meantime, so she sees no point in paying to get a photo licence sooner.
That said mum gets her repeat prescriptions ordered via the Sainsbury's service, so perhaps she'll be able to escape it.
They should not be asking for these documents as part of the registration process as primary care is free to all.
If you google what do i need to register with a gp or go on nhs website it should tell you that.

My mum told me last night in her area you have to ring for appointment 2 days in advance.. who know if they are going to be sick 2 days from now!!!! that is really stupid.
Just took my new super fantastic hair do on a bus trip to Southampton to see love ones ... they incidentally managed to get a GP appointment today calling on the dot at 8am.. it is a big practice thou and they had a cancellation.
Wow my old haunt Southampton common has really changed, had lunch in the wild centre that used to be the Zoo, seriously how many kids can claim in the UK that they woke up most days to the sound of a Lion roaring.
I love my bus pass ... its not that its free,, its that you dont have to faff with saying where you are going or coins..... oh yes got told off for trying to use an old pound coin in tescos... didnt matter that I was carrying a white stick it seems I should of known better..:wall:

Im not recommending this I still say see a nurse, but I removed mine with some cotton tied around the base, you cut off the blood supply and it falls off after a while, but it does leave a mark where it was and could get infected. or see a pharmacist... but the key is to stop the blood supply to the tag and keep the area clean while it happens over a week or so. (note I am no medical expert of any kind ask one before you do anything).
Now on the other matter of transplanting a new head on a friends body.. I recommend.....

mmmm What are skin tags?
A skin tag is a small piece of soft, hanging skin that may have a peduncle, or stalk. They can appear anywhere on the body, but especially where skin rubs against other skin or clothing.

It is now week 7 after my daughters gastric bypass. We are now in the phase where we do not know which foods she will not tolerate. She does not likevthinks she had before. I can spend hours holding her with a bucket in hand. Horrible. My son finally went to Moorefields to check his eyes and he will be having more tests around his night vision. Moorefiels staff are incredible so i feel we are in safe hands. Nice to have him home from Uni. He is sleeping so much as is exhausted looking after himself in Surrey on top of exams.i started doing job applications finally as one of my jobs ends Feb. Its my main job. So happy that i have started even with all thats happening around me. But even if i do not get anything before Feb i still will hopefully have a good redundancy package after 23 years.

Today i fell in the middle of a main road and only got saved by people at the bus stop right in front of me. My bag went flying in the air and me face down on the road with an on coming car. I thought i was a gonna.
I thought it was my fault until the people at the bus stop showed me the road. It had a big dip in it. Anyway just a scraped knee and badly shaken. I will report it to the Council tomorrow as dont want that to happen to someone else.
Glad to hear you appear to have gotten out of your ordeal relatively unscathed - it sounds like it could have ended up a lot worse! Hope you are feeling better soon. Make sure you do report it to council - years ago my mum tripped over on a cement footpath which had been damaged by large tree roots (she also scraped her knees & had a bad black eye). When we reported it to council they fixed the path rather quickly, plus a few other areas with similar damage. I suspect that their main concern however, was not getting sued! Once again, I hope you recover quickly.

Why do all the local loonies take it in turns to ring my door bell?
Todays allocation of lack of sentience held up a piece of card saying "have you read this brother" I just looked at him, I can barely see him never mind a crummy card but then he is distracted as in the time it took me to go downstairs and open the door he has rung next doors bell who has now just opened their door to the gimp.
I waved to the lovely lady next door and said "hes just selling windows as his goons are doing some poor victims house in the street," she went straight back in as did I, said bod just stood there a second or two before he realised what had just happened.
I hate cold callers with an alacrity that cannot be measured, my aunt became a real target for them because she had Alzheimer, even a sticker in the window saying no cold callers didnt stop them, even thou the last glazing company who signed her up to new windows really regretted doing so. I made sure of that.
Its scary times when the P of America retweets stuff like that and our PM is so weak in so many ways..
Last night i went to hospital because my friends 22 year old had acute stomach pain. His mum went to get him some clothes from home etc and then while i was with him he said the pain was so bad he wanted to kill himself. He did not mean it he was just so distressed with extreme pain but i had to work hard to stop him being seen by the mental health team. He did not realise that by saying what he did that he was putting himself at risk. He was young and was not thinking straight.
Sounds like a horrible night was had by all swm ...
Ok Im going to have to say it .. if someone says they want to kill themselves you must always take it seriously.. if I were you I would refer it to the mental health team who are trained to deal with this kind of thing.. take the responsibility off yourself ...its not fair you should carry that burden.
So who is switching on the crimbo lights here:D
He was 100% joking he thought it was funny to say it. If he was serious i would be the first to get help. He has had the op and all is well. He is the most cheerful person on the ward now.

I go to the doctors the next day I have a cold :wall:

Some good news for you then .. heavy cold not good though, hope you feel better real soon x
If this is just a heavy cold Im so glad I had the flu jab Perd.. paid for it in Boots on the Isle of Wight a few months back.. I would recommend we all get the jab, its not that this strain is more dangerous, well not that I know its just that our NHS is so near the breaking point that you will want at all costs want to avoid any complications of flu sending you into hospital . Its around 15 quid for a mild scrape on your arm.. get it.
So Trump is upping his plan to end the world with his Jerusalem gambit, but then he was paid 25 million by a supporter to do that when he campaigned to be the President.
I really cant see how May can dig herself out of this hole, I cant stand her but she has taken on a role that would never end well for anyone. No deal on brexit potentially means she loses the DUP votes and crashes out while a hard border will come back in Ireland.. stuff of nightmares for them we may as well bring back Cromwell:crying:

I went back to the haematologist yesterday & all good!! My blood pressure is ok & the daily aspirin seems to be doing its job, so no bone marrow biopsy needed (yet) - woo hoo!! :cheer:
Glad to see you back, Dazzle!
Still a couple of weeks to go, but I would like to wish everyone on Soapboards a very Merry Christmas & a Happy & Prosperous New Year!!

Yes I am, been doing sooooooooooooooo much shopping for Christmas food, ( turkey gets collected on 23rd) all that's left is presents which aren't many.
ASDA shop ... always an adventure.. land lady bought 40 swiss rolls. 20 packets of icing sugar and most of the frosting sugar... while in the booze aisle some bloke was lambasting a stranger about their taste in spirits by saying that they may as well stick it in a paper bag and go drink it in the local park :rotfl: The guy my size six foot odd turned to confront the guy who suddenly said "i was only joking" he certainly wasnt :ninja: I was waiting for that tannoy call. "clem up required customer spilling blood and teeth in aisle seven"
Having a Chinese takeaway tonight, the word Chinese is always a sore point with me as back in the day I helped publish the local phonebooks and entered one shop as a Chinnnesse restaurant... :ninja::rotfl:
Abyway Im looking forward to my Beff chowing main
Caught the bus to Eastleigh, on the way back part of the bus fell off, the driver wearing his ickle santas hat made for an incongruous figure trying to retrieve it from the road, all the while everyone was asking what was going on, some poor gent who obviously had "ticks" made everything more weird.
Oh and when I was in a shop a girl said at the checkout "shall I add this celotape for 1 pound to your order" I just said "no" ... it amused her and me and I managed to keep dead pan.
Across the road the neighbour has gone Christmas lights bat **** crazy.
Long story so will cut it short. I went to a house to scan a stray cat that turned out to be a stolen pedigree cat and my life is not my own anymore. The women assaulted the owner of the cat when she went to collect it. There are photos of her bruises etc then she threw the cat oyt in the backyard so the owner could not get it. She now claims the cat never came back. But same day she went to her mums....where i think she took the cat
Cats protection and police have been trying to get it back. But last police visit there was no cat and they are not checking mothers home. She has been sending me nasty texts and i reported her to the police. Now i have been given a formal warning to not harrass her. Unbelievable!!! I will be putting in a formal complaint as the woman is unhinged and i do not feel safe. She has totally fooled the police and they are not taking the violent attack seriously. I am so shocked she must be laughing. The cat is part of a pair that were homed together after having 5 lots of kittens. I believe she bought the cat and it was not a stray
That's awful  Sounds like something you'd see in a soap! Hope you're OK and don't get any more bother. Do you have a number blocking facility on your phone to block her?
I had to report my car being scratched this morning. Its only 2 years old and cost me a lot of my hard earned money. My insurance will not cover it as its 47cm and they only cover up to 30cm with this £400 scratch policy i took out, The police appear to have linked it to the women who took the cat for mow and are coming to see me again tomorrow. I am supposed to be working on my presentation for a job interview but i am pratting around with this. I have an interview for a job to work at the Grenfell Tower site. But with all this going on i will be a wreck before i get there. Maybe its not meant to be!

swmc66, this is a serious post not one of my mainly insane ones.
Speaking as someone who knows a lot about harassment laws and post rated advice on a dedicated site about it.
If the police have issued you with a desist notice in contacting an individual either directly or indirectly and that will include reporting them to the police post the issue.
Sorry to shout this BUT DO NOTHING GAIN.. dont be baited into doing something or act because you feel in the right.
The second you signed that letter of desist behaviour you entered a period that anything you do now to interact with this person may lead to your arrest and prosecution.
If you get even just a police caution over this matter it may screw up any chance you have getting a job.
Luckily it was an email and a first instance letter and she got one too i found that out today. So i never had to sign anything thank goodness. The police officer today said he does letters not emails and gets people to sign.
Sorry that makes no sense! You have either been warned off by the police or not? (life isnt dull for you swm, keep us up to date on this saga it fascinates me)
anywho.. moving on .
Ever been on a bus when the mother places a kid maybe 5 ish on board, then tells the driver give me five minutes and I will be back then runs up the road... well I have... to be fair she was back in 4 minutes :rotfl::rotfl: If I had been the driver I would of thrown the kid off and driven away ... guess thats why Im not the driver. :cartman
edited by me at 11.17
I can only go by what last police man said. The email said this was my one and only warning.
That lady on the bus is highly irresponsible!
How did the police get your email swm? The answer is they didnt and they wouldnt send any contact to anyone via email.
Ive consulted with some of my colleagues on this, the Police have to come to see you in person, they have to explain the issue then you sign a letter/form saying you understand that you must not contact directly or indirectly the person that has complained about you.
Now it is important swm that you dont let it go that far, if you do you then would fail any enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (ECRB) check. That means job wise any employer who does that check will see it. We have seen several people being issued this letter who the Police have never seriously looked into and it has messed with their job prospects. Be aware that some evil types know they can screw with people legally like this. The classic one is to do one against an ex partner, then invite them round and then tell the Police they were an unwanted visitor = arrest an prosecution.
Anyway ... like I say non of us have ever heard of police issuing warnings by email, there are some scams involving fake Police emails .. if they do come knocking on your door I advise you request legal advice and dont sign anything. Like I say if you do it will come up on any enhanced check.
He had my email as i sent him an email at one stage.
From what you describe i have not have a formal signed warning between me and the police so hopefully will not be on my records as such.
I was only following instructions from cats protection. He said any further contact WILL BE seen as harrassment
I hope it does not affect future jobs as i work in health and social care.
I am no law expect, but I do know that they would have to talk to you in person before anything goes on the record.
To be honest most Police officer really dont want to get involved in this kind of thing, took me three years to get my harasser issued a warning and even then it was a nightmare trying to get them to act on anything after that and the guy was threatening to kill me.
Anywho, just wanted you to have a heads up swm.

I got a malicious communication last week - a christmas card with a threatening message in it - not had my crime reference number yet. Police man had rung up on Friday and said he'd text it me. Do I chase them yet?
Yes, chase them. The first women officer I dealt with did everything in her power not to help me even down to listing ME the victim, as harnessing her They just dont want to deal with these kinds of cases. (but its the human factor, the first one may not want to know the next one I got was brilliant)
I would ring up 101 and make an appointment for an Officer to come see you in person, they do that now as they dont use their stations. Show the officer the physical evidence and get them to advise you. 101 is the non emergency number. (im not sure what issuing you with just a crime number would achieve via text isnt that more to claim on insurance etc I never had one until I made an official Police statement)
Im not an expert Rear Window just someone who has been thru it and know quite a bit about it.
Have a brilliant Christmas and dont let this twisted twonk spoil it, but yes make the Police do their job.

I've got a crime reference number via the local GMP fb page message thing.
the guy who'd rung said it would be passed on to someone else - and that he'd text me my crime number.
I might send a scan of card through to the fb pcso. That'd probably be more effective than trying 101. (I was told if 101 doesn't get answered quickly then it's put you into a mad loop where you'll never get answered)
All I will say is, that this person knows where you live and didnt attack you via twitter or any social media. The Police get tons of those sorts of reports you have physical evidence and unless you push this they will do nothing. I dont blame them our government is under paying them and cutting their jobs. Just be safe Rear Window and enjoy crimbo.

They are all for one person thankfully, put into the correct bag so everyone has the correct stuff. One of those people that won't let you forget it though. Thanked them for mine and the response was, "Hope the labels are written!"

Yes Alexa.. I cant now just switch on the radio in the kitchen I have to plead with some bit of plastic tat to do so, then it gets all sarcastic when you tell it to do something basic like insert itself in itself after youve ranted at it for the 15 minutes to reduce the volume.
Dont get me started on Siri, there isnt a cold bathroom in hell that would be able to cope with the appallingness of that entity, I would rather be stuck in a unending debate with Joey Essex than have that voice on my phone.
I mean who buys Iphones anyway??? Over priced and born of a man who went out of his way to make all his computers so you couldnt upgrade them , you just had to buy the new model.

Alas not ... insert loads of bleeps
Christmas was ruined by our house alarm. My husbands alarm fob was playing up so he had to sit in the house for 2 hours with the alarm going off every 15 mins. In the end the alarm company phoned me at my mums as my husband was unable to verify himself on the phone. So i had to go home early. Engineers coming to fix it tomorrow now. What a pain.
Funny thing our cat decided to sit it through with my husband rather than exiting via the cat flap. I thought they had sensitive ears! Must have felt sorry for him
Thats a loyal loving cat swm :cheer:
never never never have a nephews Danish lady round to make you xmas dinner, well unless you have the teeth like the bloke Jaws in the Bond movies . I mean seriously the sprouts were like ball bearings and the brock like rebarb wire they use in reinforced concrete. Dont get me started on the steamed cail! Then there was the pork, massive chunks of uncooked white stuff with a side order of rancid chicken. *insert puke smile*
Nephew sat there and ate it all with a love lourn look on his face while the rest of us scrambled for the bread.
Hope you did not suffer any side effects
Only a hangover :crying:

I think i need to send my husband to a diy course. I was fixing some new nest tables with the alan key they gave and my husband tries to fix them with pliers. Then we had to turn the radiator on from the side after builders left. The knob was missing so my husband tried to do it with an axe. Unbelieveable. Had to keep grabbing tools of him. So many times he has messed up washing machines and boilers by pressing and pulling things he has no clue about. That is why every item is insured in my house!

My son was expecting a small package today. The company texted him to say it would arrive between 2:30 and 3:30. At 2:15, a delivery van arrived and a woman got out and knocked on the door. She said she had a package for him but couldn't deliver it yet as the delivery spot was for 2:30 to 3:30, so she went and sat in her van till 2:30, when she got out and delivered it!

Maybe they are all timed and if she finishes too soon, she might be penalised??? Although of course getting stuck in traffic somewhere could ruin all that anyway .....
I thought this was a friendly place to post.. Im basically blind so really dont like it when other posters have a go at me when I spell things wrong when I rely on the spell checker.. I will debate a soap and enjoy it but personal attacks ... I just will not put up with those that attack me as a person .
you stay as you are and keep posting, none of us are 100% perfect, i enjoy your witty posts and never care about spellings

Could not agree more, keep going Splashy, my friend :)

I've also experienced this: the courier explained that it was down to the barcode scanners they use for parcels not allowing the parcel to be scanned before its allotted time. The courier agreed with me that it was absolute madness but was unable to do anything about it.
Perhaps we customers should complain to the courier companies about this practice - which seems designed to make life harder for the drivers (who we know are already overworked).

That really does seem daft ... as I said earlier, much traffic or no traffic makes all the difference in how quickly you get to a destination .. unless they are obliging with a specified customer's requests not to deliver before a certain time ....??

Splashy, please don't let one individual stop your posting on SoapBoards. All the above support shows you are a well respected ,witty and very likeable guy. Soap Boards is a very friendly site , but occasionally the odd person tries to disrupt this. Stick at it, keep on trucking, looking forward to reading your next posts , particularly the food exploits. :)

We love you Splashy :heart::heart::heart::heart:
Today I have mostly been annoying the internet !
Late to the thread it seems.
The forum rules as I recall have a section on doing your best to spell correctly, which Splashy does. Even among those with perfect vision, there are those that find spelling easy and those that struggle.
I had a courier that delivered my parcel to the wrong street and couldn't erase the signature when the error was pointed out to them! There does seem to be a long list of things the technology doesn't allow them to do.
I rush and spell incorrectly a lot. Never been an issue, so sorry to hear this.
Watched King Arthur legend of the sword on sky .. the film was insane enough as it was but when David Beckham turned up I nearly wet myself laughing :rotfl:

did becks speak?
Oh he did indeed, dont ask me what he said thou I was too busy wetting myself with laughter. :rotfl:
Just watched the Superbowl .. what the frell was that all about?:searchme: The Eagles won, well I always loved their hit "Hotel California" The best part of the game was when they tipped a bucket of gator aide (a soft drink) over the coaches head, up to that point I didnt have a Scoobies what was going on. Then the pitch was invaded by lots of men in suits, it was surreal, it would be like like the Queen running on to the track at Ascot.
Are we ready for the cold snap soapers?

Besides the Beckham bit, I really enjoyed this movie.. Didn't think I would.

Would have watched it if the Viking had made it but unfortunately they were beaten by the Eagles in the semis. Took me ages to get the jist of the rules but once you get them it is an ok sport.. not a patch on rugby but not as bad as I expected.
Not ready for the cold snap at all.. I hate driving on snow!! I don't mind when it is frosty (not icy) and sunny. Hate all the salt spraying from the street to my windshield as it makes it very dirty and difficult to see out of.. I get through about 20 liters of window wash per winter.
Yeah the Arthur film was very watchable and I will probably re watch it as there were some very funny lines in it.
I do get the jist of the American game, but its all the stopping and starting that is so wearying, Americans have taken over F1 and are making radical changes already to suit an American market, I fear they want to go back to the bad old days of massive adverts breaks during the race, the thyre already going to use back ground music???? Plus theyve booted out the track girls and no dout cheer leaders will be coming to town.
At work dealing with some payroll and HMRC issue from 2013/14 where an ex employee is on the system twice!! Means we have overpaid but the way HMRC dealing i feel as we have to sell the clothes on our backs to sort it out. Really stressful. They are ringing me in 5 mins hopefully matter can get sorted before i close the charity in a couple of months. Do not want them hounding trustees.
On the racing there are now going to be track kids. Its all to do with this sexual harassment stuff and they want to be careful.
