Re. Migraines, Lizann - Naramig - the only thing that works for me - prescription only.
My first full 40 hour week in 7 years. I am exhausted. Very strange not to be finished at 1pm and then have rest of day to cooking, cleaning and shopping. Have to plan everything in advance. Luckily working from home so the commute is not a factor for now.Congrats Siobhan! Great news! It is wonderful to follow your dreams. I have retired early (55) and am just completing my masters - I am contemplating a PhD, but may just try writing - we will see! Life is an adventure 😍
Congrats Siobhan! Great news! It is wonderful to follow your dreams. I have retired early (55) and am just completing my masters - I am contemplating a PhD, but may just try writing - we will see! Life is an adventure 😍 WOW!! you have been busy girl!! I am doing a 2.5 year course in Media IT. It has been tough studying at night while working full time but I love learning and would have loved to be able to afford to do a PhD.

It has been tough studying at night while working full time but I love learning and would have loved to be able to afford to do a PhD.I did my second degree and the first year of my part-time masters while working, and it was hard going. I think the saving grace for me was that I am doing it for interest - a hobby really - nothing work related. I will only do a PhD if it is funded - the AHRC give approx. 35 scholarships a year to over 50s, but to be honest, that might make it too much like work? An alternative is an MPhil at Glasgow, where I got my first degree (in the 1980s), they have a 20% alumni discount, and I may (bizarrely) qualify for a student loan for the fees anyway 😂
anyone sick of climate change talk now soaps bringing it in mixing it up

Had a bit of a rough 2 weeks. Went into hospital for a laparoscopy on the 22nd of Feb and they found my uterus was joined to my stomach wall after my c-section 21 years ago, so they separate them. Had to spend the night in hospital. Luckily I only have 3 small scars and just had to wait for them to heal. I was just getting back to work when I got the worst toothache I ever had and had to get my tooth removed. Happy to say, all is ok again. Still need to take things easy until internal stitching heals.

Sorry to hear you have been through a rough patch Siobhan, but glad that things are ok again now. Make sure you do take things easy until you are well & truly healed.

You had it rough Siobhan, hoping now you are well and in good health
Finally, after nearly 2 years married, I had my honeymoon in Italy over the Easter. It was amazing. I organised it all, hotels, flights, trains. We started in Venice, then went to Florence, with a stop in Pisa, then Rome and finally Naples, including Pompeii. It was an amazing trip. I am totally in love with Florence and will 100% be going back. Would highly recommend a visit While away the family here caught covid, we returned to 2 still positive case. Back a week tomorrow and all the test were negative for me and my husband. We don't even feel ill.
well done katie taylor, fighting Irish legend

If they look like those that are on calendars with puppies or kittens, might be worth it :P hahaha. But gentle stretching the sciatic nerve is what you need to try and do and hopefully you will be mobile again very soon :)

Been going through a bit of a rough month. At the start of the month we were told by doctors that it was only a matter of time for my father. He is seriously ill in hospital. I flew over and got a chance to chat away to him and thankfully he has been holding on. He has now stopped eating and drinking so has to be fed by tube. They can't find out what is wrong with him so are just going day by day. I took time out and went to an "off grid" camp which was the best thing I have done. It was just a moment of quiet that was necessary for me to get myself together again. I am ready to let my dad go now.
hi siob, im sorry about your dad

I don't know if anyone knows the singer LP but I spent my St Patrick's day at her soundcheck and concert. She is an fantastic singer and a genuinely nice person. She didn't rush any of us waiting on photo or autographs. She has an amazing voice and engages her fans in her whole performance. You might know "Lost on you" or "muddy waters". I would highly recommend that if she is in city near you, go see her.
looks like labour the big UK election winners
Nigel Farage won Clacton-on-Sea after 7 failed attempts... parkerman, you live there, don't you?
I moved to Spain when I had the opportunity because I prefer warmth and sunshine to cool or cold and rainy weather in UK. I love it here however this summer has become unbearably humid.. I can take heat to 40C as long as it is dry heat... this year the humidity in August has been over 90% most days... daytime temps around 33C, nighttime 25/26C.. midday and afternoon is a pleasant breeze but that stops around 5 or 6pm and back to sauna conditions... I feel for people with breathing problems because for the first time this summer I have and I am still struggling to get my breath. Roll on late September/October when it will cool down that little bit. I still love it here and will never go back to UK but the humidity can go and do one!!!

I am sorry for your loss xxxx I think you questioning mortality and your faith is not unusual when you are grieving.
Having seen the weather forecast for UK for the last few days and the forthcoming weekend I hope everyone is able to stay warm and safe when out in the elements.

Quite a big contrast to down here in the western suburbs of Sydney - it is 40 degrees Celsius here today!! A few storms are now (6pm) coming in from over the Blue Mountains, & will be back down to the mid 20's for the next few days.

Had to help my baby girl Tallulah over the rainbow bridge yesterday, first time I had to do that so not a good day. Waking up without her by my side was heartbreaking but I found out last Saturday that she had cancer of the liver, spleen, possibly lung, came as a surprise as she never showed any signs apart from recently finding it difficult to get her breath at times, hence very extensive examination by the vet on Saturday. Spoiled her over the weekend with her favourite food and treats and put her to rest yesterday. She was 12 :crying:

Sorry to hear that sad news Perdita. Little Tallulah is at peace now. I hope you are going ok.

Was trying to post a picture of her but does not seem to work .
It is tough at the moment, miss her terribly but still have her twin sister so need to be strong for her. Thank you all for your kind comments.
Been in hospital now for 10 days after a mini heart attack.. more tests tomorrow before I will find out if I can go home again.. cannot fault Spanish health service as they are making 100% sure it is safe for me to go home. All medical staff are very friendly and helpful.

Sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time at the moment Perdita. I hope your tests tomorrow are ok & allow you to go home asap. Take it slow & steady & take care of yourself. (& follow the doctor's orders!). Glad that you are getting A1 service at the Hospital. Make sure you keep us up to date on your progress.
