I think most of the older residents know about Tracey and some of the newer ones must have been told by about her. I think the trouble is that when creating these storylines, each plot is handled as a separate story, and they do think about the past, and how it should link up to the present.
She is a classic example of a cold blooded murderer getting away with it.

The older residents never mention it though, not even her family or Roy who Tracy claimed was the father when she first was pregnant with Amy and then charged him and Hayley 20k to keep the baby ...

Boy, you are up early, or is it up late? Anyhoo, I have NEVER liked Tracy! In my eyes, she has never done anything that wasn't self-serving. But the only Barlow I have ever liked is Peter (don't ask me why though).

Bloody? But why would she blank most of the letters? It's not really a bad word. That's why I couldn't figure it out. I thought it was a UK slang word I didn't know.
Let me explain. I am very wary of offending someone . The 2002 curse!
I recently added to a fun post on a social media site asking for ridiculous exaggerations. E.g. I could eat a horse etc. ?I?m as big as a house? I wrote ? I?ll kill you if you do that again? . I got a severe reprimand and told it was a hate crime. The PTB obviously hadn?t read the title of the post or put it into context as an exaggeration . Haha reminded me of the recent Toyah storyline when that line was used. So now I am very careful what I write in case someone/anyone is offended.

Would a daughter really go into a bistro and embarrass her father the way Tracy did? I wish Ken would tell her to mind her own business and wind her neck in. He is old enough to make his own decisions and if he wants to be in a relationship with Wendy, so be it.

But as the immaculate Stephen had dirty nails, (noticed by a vigilant female in the bar)

He could have said Aggie was a nurse, a health professional, and that is why he spoke to her. Sally would have been annoyed, but then Sally gets annoyed about almost anything. But it would have been better than just confiding to someone in the pub like Peter. It was obvious weeks ago that this is what was going to happen. My main gripe about the scene was both Aggie and Tim said a lot but really explained nothing. It was a silly story used to fill space.

Since they increased^ the number of episodes the show has gone downhill. They should be brave enough to go back to three or four episodes a week, then we could less silly, unrealistic gangster stories, and no more nonsense about Sally and Tim's bedroom antics. My choice would be for two thirty minute episodes on Monday and Wednesday with one hour on a Friday.

What is it about with Corri and children having disjointed families.
Poor Sam lost his mother.
Summer has 3 gay men as guardians, non of whom is a parent
Max and Lily with a very confusing set of guardians
Jack does have his Dad but again a different "mother" person
Lewis, only his mother ,no father
Dylan again another confused set up, his Gay Dad with numerous boyfriends in and out
Fiz daughter with a "step father" (when hes not shacking up with latest love interest)
And of course his daughter whose mother is "God knows where"jail I think
Apart from the "invisible" quads is there any actual real life families together as a unit on Corri.
And dont mention the Baileys, as we have now got rid of the footballer
Which leaves his brother bringing up his child and again no mother
Time got a grip and realised that there are real family units that consist of biological parents living as nice families.
Urggggghhhhh corri is annoying me

Ruby's mother has now died, no longer in jail. I suppose Tracy has had her adoptive dad around her all the time even if he was not always living with her mum. Aadi and Asha have had Dev around all the time, mum sadly died. But you are right, Dad, Mum and children all living under one roof does not seem possible on Coronation street.

Nick and Leanne seem to be making the situation with Sam wanting to visit Harvey more difficult that it needs to be. They should sit Sam down, and try to explain to him why Harvey shot his mother. Harvey was a dangerous escaped criminal, who was on the run when he broke into the flat, and shot Natasha when she came home and disturbed him, thinking she was Leanne. There is a slight danger that Sam could lay some blame on Leanne, but I think Sam is bright enough to see that it was not her fault. They should tell him that is very unlikely that Harvey would offer him a reasonable explanation, or tell him the truth, as lying is what criminals do to allay the blame.

I think Sam will go and visit Harvey and ask him why he became very naughty and that if he had played chess when he was little, he may have turned out better. Sam will offer to visit him each week and teach him to play chess. Harvey will be so filled with remorse that he will go back to his cell and hang himself and Abbie and her baby will come out of hiding and will be seen on the street again, and Haley's coat will suddenly be found behind the back of a chair in Roy's Rolls and Maxine Peacock will ask Audrey can she have her old job back.

It's a rule in Coronation Street that no-one ever actually explains anything. Mostly they just stand there without saying anything while someone is ranting on having got it all wrong. Then comes the break up and divorce (or murder) and all the dysfunctional families mentioned above, when a simple explanation may have saved everything.

At times it is like Sam is the Parent and Nick the child. Nick is constantly avoiding fully engaging with Sam, and takes the easy way out in difficult situations. I think there are times when a parent has to be firm and say that a child has to wait until they are older before they can make certain decisions.

Sally made Rosie take an morning-after pill, not sure if this has been done before or since, Leanne had an abortion, I am sure, Tina McIntyre aborted David Platt's baby, Sinead aborted Daniel's baby and I am sure there might have been others I cannot think of at the moment. Seems contraception and the morning-after pill after unexpected intimate encounters are not an option.

Thanks all for your replies. I guess I hadn't noticed those examples. Here in the US it is barely mentioned. Erica Kane on the soap All My Children had one back in 1973 but weirdly enough around 30 years (?) later, it was changed to not an abortion but a real child had been born, but Erica didn't know? 🙄 Here is a short synopsis of that:
"It was 2005 when the head writer, Megan McTavish rewrote the story to have Dr. Greg Madden (Ian Buchanan) transplanting the aborted fetus into his own infertile wife. They raised Erica?s child and when Josh Madden, originally played by Scott Kinworthy, came to town, it was eventually revealed to be the child Erica thought she had aborted."
It's barely even discussed here.

No shotgun blasts into the ceiling - No hammers smashing glass cases - Must be the quietest, most non violent "Jwellery Heist" ever. But why did Fern feel the need to pull her hoodie up before she started robbing. After all she had been cleaning all morning with her hood down.
To be truthful I am confused by the whole business. On Monday's episode she arrived at the shop and the owner/manager left her cleaning, when he seemed to go home. On Wednesday he arrived when she was cleaning and said "good morning". Did she spend the night there, or did she open up before he arrived, if so did he give her the keys and alarm codes - to someone he had just met the previous evening. Did he not think it suspicious that she seemed to spend the whole time cleaning one bit of counter.
What sort of jewellers was it that had no other staff, did not lock the display cases, unless this was because it did not have any customers. Even though Bernie and Fern look similar, I am sure in close up they be able to see the difference. I don't think PC Tinkers special powers of investigation will be needed to solve this crime.
Corrie really is finding it difficult to come up with good believable story lines. Must have been putting all their efforts into getting Summer pregnant.

If the plan was to blame Bernie it was woeful because she was filmed doing the theft at a time when Bernie has an alibi.

But this is Corrie and the Weatherfield Police Force are well known for not carrying out any investigations before arresting and prosecuting people. That's why the wrong people always get arrested and all the murderers go free.

So because Chesney couldn't get Ryan on the phone, it means Bernie must be lying and guilty. Eh?
I also fail to understand the point Bernie was making that she had been stitched up by Fern because she made her stay in all afternoon and therefore had no alibi. But she (Fern) was seen in the shop in the morning by the owner when Bernie was working in the cafe.
This story is complete garbage.

I have never liked this summer, the original Summer was not very likeable, I found her arrogant and aloof, but could not see her getting pregnant. Problem when they recast characters, is it not just that they get a new head, but a new personality too. Same thing happened with Max. It seems that when they decide to take a character in a new direction they have to recast in order to do so. I would prefer they make the extra effort needed to write stories for the actors they already have.

While and whilst both have the same meaning, but you cannot always use whilst in place of while. We chatted for a while - correct. We chatted for a whist - incorrect.
While and whilst, both describe the time that something else is happening. While tends to be used to describe something that is happening at the same time at something else. Whilst used in contrast. Example: I watched TV while I waited for my taxi (cab), whilst my sister played games on her phone. Whilst may be considered old fashioned by some people. Just to complicate things further when can be used instead of while. The phone rang while/when I was up a ladder. Whereas can sometimes also be used instead of whilst.
My brain is hurting so I will stop here.
I say 'whilst' and so does my daughter . Pretentious ??? Really? I certainly would be offended if someone said I was pretentious or using a word was pretentious . It rather suggests Hyacinth Bouquet .

Well none of that story about Stephen and Audrey was contrived in the least was it? All seemed so natural and reasonable. First of all Audrey giving him her phone because Gail was texting her a lot and then deciding to seek an equity release on her house so she could take Sam to Norway almost immediately after Stephen had just robbed her by taking out the equity release himself. All perfectly normal.

Out of interest for any fine legal minds on here....What is the position now with Audrey's house? If Stephen nips off round the world and Audrey attempts to obtain an equity release on her house, she will be told there is already an equity release scheme in place on the house. Presumably Audrey will be able to prove that she didn't apply for it (I watch Medical Detectives and know they can tell when a signature is a forgery!). So, I assume the loser would be the company that took on the equity release and not Audrey. Does that sound right?

Why doesn't Hope just go round and burn the book warehouse down?
She has considered it.
I don't like the book title. It should be "He just wanted to be a teacher"
The amazing Summer sits and watches Jacob cook her a breakfast and then refuses it. So annoying !!!.
For someone who is supposed to be clever, Sam is a bit thick. It has already been carefully explained to him why his mother was killed.

Why would Harvey agree to see Sam, he has already said he does not read the letters.

I think Sam wants to know why Harvey turned bad.
I think Sam will discover that Harvey never played chess or looked at the moon through a telescope when he was young, and that he only had a Chipper cycle when his mates rode on Choppers.
He will tell Sam that he was only selling drugs until he got the money he needed to bid for a Johnny Seven OMA on eBay. Sam will offer to make him one using sticky back plastic and toilet roll tubes if he repents his sins which Harvey agrees to, then to his surprise Sam presents him one he had made earlier.
They will finish off eating cream buns with lashings of ginger beer and singing songs around an LED campfire.

So, Aaron,The amazing Summer, Jacob all have employment (not sure about Amy) so can rent a flat.
Where do they eat, wash clothes, dry washing, etc.
Surely they can afford a new washing machine? They will need one to wash The Grease Monkeys overalls??
And if the Amazing Summer is puking her guts up, she will be dribbling vomit,🚽 is it any wonder Tracy says the place stinks!!!
Total stupid plot, do we need to be bored by flat sharers😫

It would help him get an earlier release.
Max annoys me immensely and Tracy Barlow should still be in prison.
Me too. Talks with a silly grin on his face which makes everything he says sound sarcastic and Tracey is so self righteous and pious and yells at anyone who she thinks has been wronged .

Is the washing machine really broken, or did Jacob just say that to get Tracy to do their washing? If it is broken it may their landlord's responsibility too fix it.)

1. I wonder if it has occurred to Ty that the bookshop can (and no doubt will) order more copies of the book?
2. Fern's husband goes to the police and tells them about Fern and they just dismiss his story without any further investigation. Really? Good luck with that in court!

Amazon? - Has Ty never heard of Amazon. Where did he find the money to buy all those books, at ?12.99. Are we heading for another lack of money story. The bookshop being sold out might help put the book into the Best Seller's list
Did Creepy, Comic Bloke really go to to the police station. So much not seems to happen off camera I am never sure what did happened, and what was just said to have happened.

Also, that may be the only local bookshop, but I doubt somehow that it is the only bookshop in Manchester!!!
You may be right about the latter and that he never went at all. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Would there really be such an interest in John Stape's story? :hmm: Who will play Hope when the book will be made into a film? :p

Just what I was thinking. Although, once they have charged someone, the Police are unlikely to want to prove them innocent.

I wonder why aren't they suitable for adopting in the normal legal way.
Talking of legal matters, would Stu really be due a shedload opf comp when he pleaded guilty ?

It seems evident that something is not right with Mike and Esther's story... I wonder if they would sell on the baby to somebody else for more money than they paid Summer?
Yes, Stuart can appeal for compensation now his conviction has been quashed.

Presumably he can because part of his case was that he only confessed under duress.

He should have pleaded not guilty and challenged the way he had been treated in custody. He was a murder suspect. Automatically granted a solicitor. What on earth was the solicitor playing at ?

His daughter killed her because he was having an affair with his colleague and his wife helped to cover it up.

If the wonderful Dee Dee was a lawyer in the US of A how was she qualified to practice it the UK. Yet another crazy coincidence. Almost as crazy as Stu's wife and daughter admitting their parts in the death of his former lover and getting convicted the next day or did I fall asleep for a year while the DPP investigated Stu's wrongful conviction and carried out a full investigation int what actually happened. The wheels of justice in Weatherfield are remarkably swift. Good job the did away with the death penalty.

As far as I know, it's not uncommon for British barristers to represent people in the USA.
However, it's all rather silly. Stu's whinging has got his daughter locked up for murder while in Emmerdale, Cain is willing to face a life sentence rather than have an accidental shooting, committed by his 10 year old son, properly investigated

Craigie arrests Fern AKA 'Bob' He must be due some sort of recognition.
I must remember to stop feeding those grey squirrels.
When will it dawn on Eliza that it was that nice granddad making a fuss, that has got her mom locked up for murder ?
I wish Alya would stop shouting at people without having proof that they were responsible for attacks on businesses and people. And David should sit down with Max and speak to him calmly, not shout at him all the time although I think Max is feeling a little unsure now about what he is being told by Griff and co.
