Rana does not want to be a parent so she should say so. She did the same with Zeedan who also wanted a baby. Does she think people will leave her if she does not play along with it all.

Rana said she does not like the idea of a stranger being the father.
Robert is not a stranger, wants to be a father and appears to be sympathetic to their cause and I'm sure the process would not cost anything like what the clinic charge.

I think Rana does not want kids or not yet at least but is afraid to be honest with Kate and is looking for any excuse, Kate is moving fast
Jadefalcon
29-11-2018, 13:53
I'm honest, I think it'll be lucky if that marriage lasts a year. Kate is a control freak and Rana isn't allowed to have a thought of her own. Ironically Kate is worse that way than Rana's family. If it isn't a baby she'd be controlling about something else.

Jesus H Christ Rana, take this as a warning. Run and don't stop, Kate will NEVER ever let you have your own opinions or thoughts unless they're totally agreeing with her.
Did anyone else think the one legged race was a bit odd? I've no problem with Jack arranging a fundraiser but why were there so many people involved when it was held on a Friday afternoon? I suppose this is one of the problems of having a weekday timeslot - all the big events (fundraisers, nights out, etc) all seem to take place during the week. And was there nowhere better to hold it than on the same street where pretty much everything else happens?
I really didn't like the idea of this at all. Didn't seem right somehow for poor Jack to be doing it when he has little or no balance where as able bodied people have more balance when hopping . I think so anyway .

Why would Tyrone turn his back and go off when answering the phone to Fiz instead of just standing where he was so he could keep an eye on Hope and Cerberus?
how did hope get the dog on the train?
Why did Shona lock Nick and Leanne in the cafe when she doesn't even like Nick in the first place? And are they going to spend the night in Roy's flat while he's away? I doubt Carla went badger watching with him so where was she? It all seemed too convenient.
And as for a seven year old child putting a dog on a tram..
Weird episode.

Ah. Where is she supposed to be in Weatherfield, upstairs washing her hands?
Sean seems to have moved on completely from his homelessness ordeal. It would have been good for the writers to show some character development but apart from one scene where he shared his crisps at work he hasn't changed that much. I was hoping he might volunteer with a homeless charity or perhaps help Roy feed homeless people in the cafe on Christmas Day but it looks like he's off on holidays instead..

So happy that Rana is having second thoughts, not before time. Kate really is obsessed. Mind you the way Michelle is going on I'm surprised she doesn't fit Robert with a tracking device.
Nick was being extremely optimistic with a 20k sum for his car. It's an Audi isn't it, not exactly the rarest cars around even if they do hold their value well. He'd be lucky to get that in a private transaction, near impossible to a dealer who has to sell on for a profit.

She's basically willing to screw up everyone else's lives including the woman she claims to love and damn the consequences as long as she gets what she wants.

It was so good to see that arrogant sod Phil put in his place. Look at the elitist sneering way he was looking down at the folk in the Rovers. He's the type that deserves a good dose of GBH.
Kate I think still doesn't really see that she did wrong both to Adam and the horrible deceitful way she's treated Rana. I think if Rana makes the mistake of taking her back it'll be back to her normal (or should that be abnormal) behaviour in no time.
Great to see characters standing up for Brian and putting stupid Phil in his place. I'm glad it's all out in the open now, although I could have done without seeing Brian getting sick over the governors...

Of course she is paranoid! Look at it from Jenny's point of view. After the vile things that Johnny said to Jenny when Aiden died, the way he was around slapper Liz, I would track the dirty sod, never mind that he is innocent this time. When the trust has gone??? Not to mention Liz still doesn't seem to see that she's causing problems. When Johnny sacked her, she was surprised?
Because Jenny agreed to let her work there... presumably thinking she could keep an eye on both of them. And they have not done anything wrong since so this came out of the blue for Liz. Now we have to sit through Jenny and Johnny lying through their teeth instead of being honest. Jenny needs to sort out her drinking and maybe relationship guidance would do both of them some good...
I didn't see that coming at the end of Christmas Day's episode.

Of course in the normal world, the cost of her services would all have been explained before she was appointed and what it could mean if the case was lost etc. etc. However, as we know, Weatherfield is not in the normal world, it inhabits a space all of its own in some weird parallel dimension.

I did not see any leaks or spoilers about the Lewis death plot, so it came as a complete surprize and made the episode much more enjoyable (not that I was glad to see Lewis meet his end). I think old secondhand boats can be bought quite cheaply, because of high cost of maintainable, many people are forced to sell them. Carla had the money Nick gave her for the share in the factory.
Also, she didn't move in with Roy for financial reasons; it was mostly because she needed somewhere to stay near her family when she had kidney failure. I can't believe she stood Roy up - we didn't see her apologise either. Speaking of Roy, he seems to spend most of his time driving batty women around recently. (Evelyn and Mary)
That boat's going to become an eyesore if Peter doesn't move it soon. Are you allowed to keep a huge boat like that on a residential street?

I was very surprised at Roy repeating the now discredited story about Margaret Thatcher helping to invent soft ice cream.
Mr-Whippy-style soft-serve ice-cream originated in the US about a decade before Mrs Thatcher worked at J Lyons. When soft-serve arrived in the UK, J Lyons was indeed at the forefront – but it had teamed up with the US ice-cream giant Mister Softee and operated franchises under that name.
Thatcher was a food research scientist at J Lyons but, as a Royal Society article noted in May 2011, the details of her work there are sketchy. She reportedly worked on the quality of cake and pie fillings as well as ice-cream.
The idea of Thatcher helping to invent soft ice cream is really a story invented by her opponents because it added air, lowered quality and raised profits.
I always thought Roy was a stickler for the facts.

Corrie picking up Eastenders habit of decorating community spaces and using them for events without consulting with the council. Unlikely to get permission in this day and age without 'risk assessments' and meeting 'health and safety' regulations.
billy is old for gemma's twin brother and where is he living?
Up until tonight I had a feeling he wasn't even gay, just flirting with Billy to manipulate him. But Gemma seemed to confirm that he's genuine. It still seems contrived that the writers are pairing off a former criminal with a vicar though.

Incidentally, I thought tonight's Coronation Street were two of the worst episodes ever. That funeral was execrable, apart from Mary of course and Evelyn, doing her Blanche impression, was ok, but that backwards and forwards with Lewis's coffin was buttock clenchingly dire.

he bankrupt the shop eating all the sweets
The funeral was just ridiculous, with the coffin going backwards and forwards. In real life mourners don't even have access to the controls during a cremation anyway.
Did anyone else think that hearing Sally screaming while being beaten was unnecessary? We could already guess what was going to happen (even without spoilers) so they could have just had Marcia threatening her or looking at her in a menacing way, and then seeing Sally's injuries in the next scene. It all felt a bit disturbing.

The moment Nick's gym bag was mentioned, you just knew it would be stuffed with cash. But is it Audrey's cash or did he get it from somewhere else. Are they trying to lead us a garden path. - I would like to think that Nick would not rip off his gran, but nowadays in the constant search for drama anything is possible. Can't wait to see Gail's face if he did, will she be able to forgive him, the son that can do no wrong.

I felt sorry for Duncan's daughter in that episode, having 2 strangers lure her to a restaurant for a non existent photo shoot and then tell her that her mother is still alive...
Sally going to prison has shown that Tim is not a very nice man, first he believed that she had an affair with Duncan. Now he exploits his daughter with no regard to her feelings. His default setting seems to be to to try and beat a confession out of Duncan even though a confession obtained this way would not stand up in court. When Duncan was hit by the car his reaction was to run away without checking to see if he was still alive.

I wonder if this is the start of a new, darker phase for Tim? When he came into the show first, he had abandoned Faye as a baby with her drug addicted mother so he may not always have been the nice-but-dim character we've known up until recently. Also, his relationship with his dad should be explored a bit more. Geoff doesn't seem like a neglectful father but he may have changed quite a bit over the years. In particular, I'm wondering why Tim was unable to read and write when he first arrived.

I really do find the way Sophie seems to talk down to everyone bloody annoying.
In these times of low employment, how the hell are half the people in the factory still 'working'. They seem to take time off at the slightest thing. Also the way Sean was shouting at Carla, there's no way most bosses would put up with that.
I liked their scene together. Kirk is kind and means well, with no hidden agenda unlike many other characters.

The Sally story...
1. What's happened about the solicitor's bill? Will Duncan now have to pay it all?
2. Would the prison really have put Marcia back in the same cell as Sally!!?
Daniel & Ken
I have to say I am not one for getting very emotional at soap storylines, but I did find the reconciliation between Daniel & Ken quite moving. Well acted both. I think it's about time they gave William Roache a long term contract...

Will Sally be able to claim compensation for the assault and for being wrongly imprisoned.
At the least she could sell her story to the Weatherfield Gazette.
In the storyline about Nick stealing his Gran's money, we are supposed to believe that Nick's waitress friend withdrew it all from cash machines. Given that a typical daily limit is £250, it would take 320 days to get £80,000 out by that method - i.e. more than ten months! Since the inheritance from Archie only came through a month or so before Nick started "splashing the cash", it's further evidence of the scriptwriters thinking that viewers are stupid. Also, I don't think that there's a bank in this world whose fraud department wouldn't have contacted the account holder (Audrey) to query the frequency and scale of such cash withdrawals. Just saying.

Think it depends. Having had cancer and chemotherapy, to use a very simplistic analogy, it's like tea - lots of different varieties. Not everyone loses their hair (I did) and it's possible to wear a cold cap during chemo which reduces the chance of hair loss by circa 40%. Not something I bothered with as it added a couple of hours to each session and not guaranteed to work. Someone I know had 18 doses of chemotherapy to my 6 and didn't lose her hair. Another lesser known side effect of chemotherapy can be nail loss. Wearing nail varnish may help prevent nail loss - didn't for me, but gave it a go. There's a well known charity in cancer circles called Look Good Feel Better, which is basically make up artists giving make up tips to ladies (and men I suppose if they want to participate) going through treatment. They give you a goody bag at the end, it's all about bolstering confidence. They use high end branded make up discontinued lines, no disrespect, not supermarket own brands.
Not sure if the scriptwriters are doing a good job in portraying this, my cancer was a different type. My gut instinct is it won't end well. More in the sense of history repeating itself, Ken was left a single parent etc.

I'm enjoying Evelyn and her sarcastic interactions with Tyrone but her storyline is getting even stranger than it was at the start. Why hasn't she mentioned this James character before? I thought the same, I would like to think it is the start to changing him back to an ordinary person.
The storyline with Evelyn and Tyrone is getting more convoluted by the episode. I think the writers have tied themselves in knots unnecessarily - they could easily have brought Evelyn in as Jackie or Darren's mother and it would still have made an interesting storyline.

That thing would struggle to make 4 knots with the engine on maybe 3 knots in a good wind by sail so it would take six months to get there as the crow flys under engine but as you cant carry that amount of fuel over a year by sail.

She is going to say she got the dates mixed up, and hope that will be enough for them to let her off . This being Soapland they probably will. - One off the problems with soap characters doing wrong things is that unless they are going to leave the programme they have to find a way of letting them get away with things, unless they want to keep repeating scenes like Sally being in prison. - But it does not set a very good moral example to the rest of us.

Why did Carla have to delete the footage of Roy sleepwalking? She's got rid of the only evidence that can prove the fire was an accident. I know she wants to protect Roy but he's the very person who would want to take responsibility for his actions. He certainly wouldn't want someone else blamed for it. I love their friendship but why are the writers using it for a cover up storyline, instead of keeping it in the background? Were all their recent scenes (having lunch in the Bistro, Carla trying to support Roy after Sylvia's death etc) just foreshadowing for this melodrama?

Carla deleted the footage from the PC where anyone 'in the know' could - and did - look for it, but perhaps saved it somewhere else in case she needs to refer to it in the future?

I loved the final scene with Roy and Carla, but seriously, could she not have disposed of his coat further away from the factory? I know she didn't expect Roy to go rooting through the skip but there's plenty of other ways she could have kept it a secret, maybe getting his coat dry cleaned after pretending she had spilled something on it? And why did Seb see Carla putting stuff into her car when she was only bringing Roy's stuff to the Underworld skip?
Having said that, it marks the start of a new, more difficult phase in their friendship and I think they will both be able to carry it off.
If I was Carla I would be tempted to do one of two things.
1. Stuff Roys head down the bog and flush it.
2. Totally deny all involvement, officer Roy had access to my factory to delete the CCTV and dump the clothing and he hates the Barlows as Tracy claimed Amy was his his and blackmailed him and Hailey.
