That's a very good point - so obvious that I missed it completely.

No doubt following on from her success getting Damon acquitted, Dee Dee will spot this flaw when she represents Stephen in court at some point in the far distant future, and get him off, claiming Rufus didn't take adequate precautions when drinking with a mass murderer.

Do I get the job as a scriptwriter?

Is Dee-Dee Adam's employee or partner in the law firm? Adam will find out about her knowing about Sarah's fling with Damon and that will cause problems, could she lose her job as employee? We have never been told where she qualified as lawyer, might have been in UK, she might have been working in LA for an international company advising on English law, she was in Brussels on a conference when she was expected to come to Ed's 55th birthday a couple of years ago so that could explain that she is qualified to work in UK.

That will show he died of an LSD overdose surely?
Seeing as he bought the drugs and passed them on to Stephen, there will be no one to volunteer having sold them to Rufus, and no one knows Rufus gave them to Stephen either.

They will know about the LSD but he died because he drowned.

I wonder if they might conclude Rufus drowned due to the LSD overdose?

I'm only saying that because the symptoms Carla had (and Stephen too when he accidentality drank Carla's laced drink), seemed to render them unable to function normally.
Could it be concluded Rufus fell in the pool and was unable to climb out, being incapable? It's purely a question, as I don't know.

Considering that the usual dose of LSD is only a small drop, the amount that Stephen poured into his drink was enough to send the whole of Weatherfield on a trip. Which should alert the police that Rufus may not have taken the drug willingly, unless of course it was suicide.

Before that no doubt we will have to endure both Michael and Paul being wrongfully accused. Michael because he lied about seeing Rufus that night and Paul because he stole his car and was therefore at the house. An interesting twist could be if the tie pin is found and Michel knows about it, would he tell the police or would he use it to blackmail Stephen into giving him a good job?

Son of Cain

Looks like Rufus pulled it off when trying to get out of the pool.

The tie pin was already gone when Stephen pushed Rufus into the pool, but it was still there when they were drinking together and when he got up to help Rufus, so I presume it caught on the dressing gown while he was holding him.

Ryan was struggling with his injury and when the specialist mentioned a skin graft. Ryan responded with, "A bit of thigh slapped on me face."

At the risk of appearing flippant:
As a kid I had a perforated eardrum. I had a bit of skin from my backside grafted on to make a new eardrum.
Even now, my hearing's not great. I do manage to make a joke, saying, "Regarding people talking out of their a*se. At least I can hear out of mine."

I had this done over fifty years ago when I was about twelve.
I've lived in Thailand for the past twenty-five years. I went to see a hearing specialist here about my hearing degrading as I get older.
I told him about the skin graft for my perforated eardrum. The specialist examined my ear, saying, "I've heard about this being done years ago, but this is the first time I've actually seen it."
Ooh, that made me feel really old.

Obviously I'm no expert but I think it would be helpful to show Ryan a series of photo's of someone in his situation. Starting with a face like his and finishing with the same face after successful treatment.

According to IMDB, Roy Cropper started in Corrie in 1995 appearing in 2,435 episodes.

I remember David Neilson in Boys from the Blackstuff (1982) when he played an offical from the Department of Employment.
He seems to be good at playing seemingly mundane characters - no disrespect. I think he's a great actor.

This is a decision young soap actors have to face, whether or not to leave the security of having a regular job in a Soap, or to take the risk and try to find new and more challenging roles. I suppose it depends on the type of person they are, whether they want security or they are risk takers. If they stay too long they can become type cast and find it difficult to get other work. William Roach has made a career out of being Ken Barlow and seems happy with it. On the other hand some soap actors have have chosen to leave never to be seen again. If they stay too long, and then there character is written out, or worse, killed off, that could be a big problem. Not a decision to be taken lightly.

He is not a young actor, so not the same decision to make. He already has a back catalogue of work to prove his experience and versatility. The young actor has to decide if they want to move on to bigger and better roles, or stay where they are for security, but risk becoming typecast, and run the risk of becoming stuck if they stay too long.

Amy Barlow drinks herself into a drunken stupour and finishes up in hospital. "I messed up" she tells her mom. "No you didn't" insists Tracy.

There is a danger in showing kids in soaps getting very drunk all the time as being seen as normal behaviour. Perhaps it is and I'm out of touch.

Thats what I tried to say - Its used as a short term crutch but in the long term it doesn't help. I speak from experience as someone who has been involved in several life threatening issues and at the time alcohol was seen as a quick fix. It's the same as asking someone: "Did you lose a leg?"
"No, did you think I did?"
"No, but it's always good to check."
Or:
"Are you wearing your lucky trousers?"
"No, did you think I was?"
"No, but it's always good to check."

It's just the same sort of pointless question that makes it funny without labouring the point. If Alex had smelt something burning, he would have attended to it himself.

Paul said to DeeDee,"Naill's got me by the short and curlies" To me, that seemed a reasonable phrase.
Earlier, Audrey was talking to Elaine about Stephen, "Gail and the kids call him golden balls."
I've heard the phrase used in dramas before, I always thought it was a reference to male appendages. Having just looked it up, I see it refers to the three gilt balls used as a pawnbroker's sign.
Oh how ignorant I am.

Brian mentioned to George about the ship 'Lord Sandwich' which was originally Captain's Cook's Endeavour.
It was scuttled by the British in Newport Harbor (in 1778) in an effort to block French ships during the American War of Independence.
Something else I googled out of interest. Sometimes Corro is very educational.

Btw, I see that although the Earl of Sandwich gave his name to the food snack, he didn't invent it. Apparently, "One of the earliest known sandwich-eaters was Hillel the Elder, a rabbi and scholar who was born in Babylon and lived in Jerusalem during the first century B.C"

Stephen ran towards Underworld and intercepted the postman, saying. "I can take those for you."
It doesn't seem unusual something like that happens in soaps.
I would have though the postman was obliged to deliver mail directly to the address, or hand it to someone in the premises, not just give the mail to someone on the street. I can't imagine the postman knows all his householders that well, especially in an urban area. Would that happen in real life?

I didn't know that Coronation Street was originally Albert Street, then renamed for the coronation of Edward VII?

That was a bit of a strange story because Brian said that the street was built in 1902. King Edward succeeded to the throne (when he took the name Edward) in January 1901, so to call it Albert street after him in 1902 seems a bit odd.

If I was sent to a detention centre, a place where violence is likely to occur, I would have my head shaved or hair cut very short, so, if in a fight, not allow anyone the chance to grab hold of it, to head butt, or punch me in the face. I think any sensible person would do the same.

"Florizel is a fictional character in Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. Florizel is the son of Polixenes ? King of Bohemia. He falls in love with Perdita, and wishes to marry her. I think this something that does happen in real life, especially in the past when we used to have a regular postman, who knew people by sight. Although now we do not seem to keep the same postman so long, I do not know. I have frequently taken the mail from the postman in the street outside my house even when it was a postman I had never seen before. I think they are just glad to get rid of stuff, and save themselves the trouble of puting it through the letter box, even though they probably meant to. Perhaps in the case of Stephen the postman had seen him at the factory, or had had to go in to hand over a parcel. For myself.f I saw nothing unusual in handing it over in the street.

Daniel is not very good at this job. He should not be singling out Max and drawing attention to him, he should realize that this could lead to Max being picked upon, even being beaten up. Now Max is starting to act up to impress the other inmates. Daniel should realize this place is different from a school.

I think Daisy is worried that Daniel may get jealous of the time she spends with Ryan, so was trying to downplay it to please him.

Why stop at a few months?

Make it years.

Personally I think it is a job for The Canuck Murderer himself

I agree with you that Aaron truly believes he did not rape Amy, they were both so drunk that I do not think either of them are clear about exactly what happened. Aaron was so drunk I am not sure he would have been able to have sex. Without wishing to condone rape I think Amy has to let go, and try to move on, I know easier said than done. I think Amy is now doing harm to her self obsessing on trying to save Mia when she may not need to be saved. Has it been made clear as to whether Aaron and Mia are having a sexual relationship. Regardless I do not think Mia is in much danger, her relationship with Aaron is different them Amy's. If nothing else I think Aaron will have learned from his experience with Amy, not to get into the same situation again. In his heart I do not think he is a bad person, he agreed to wait with Summer until she was ready. I do think he set out with bad intentions, what I hope, both him and Amy will have learned from this, is that drinking to such excess is dangerous.

I doubt Eric could sue Amy, the post was not about him. Unless Aaron agrees and initiates a civil action himself, I do not think Eric could do anything. Aaron may well decide he just wants to whole affair to die down. I am getting a feeling that this story may end up with someone dying

Normally a scaffolding company will leave a scaffold for a month then they will start charging extra. If it is there long enough it will cost more than it would to get the roof fixed, it still it will not be fixed.

I agree with the bit in bold. Vicars are supposed to have the gift of discernment but Silly Billy never knows what's going on. He always gets it wrong. Having said that, Paul is an annoying burger

Whilst received free legal representation, Paul claims, "I'm not a charity case "

This must have been the first soap wedding for a while that was not "will they won't they" get married. Will the brother of the bride turn up, was a new twist. Still we did have the obligatory cake fight. Pity it was only a half hour episode tonight.
