I just read that Ms. Gibson is the new Doctor Who companion! That's quite a step up. Congrats Ms. Gibson.
But I haven't really watched since Tennant stepped down, could never get used to Smith & didn't want to pay to see the next two Whos.
Spider has noticed Max not being in school, nor is Lauren as a rule .. so how come the schools have not been in touch with the parents yet?

I expect you'll be watching it again now that David Tennant has returned as The Doctor.
But not really, it will just be 3 special episodes for the 60th anniversary (and that is a year from now). I also wish that it was Rose instead of Donna & bring back Jack Harkness.
Funny thing, I didn't really like Doctor Who until Eccleston took over as the 9th doctor & then it took me a while to get used to Tennant, mainly because I had recently seen the two-part TV series 'Secret Smile', he was so CREEPY. But he quickly grew on me.

Griff needs to give Max a loyalty test. How would he react? I always love Roy.
Bored with the Max storyline. Corrie loves to have someone wrongly accused . Spider, although anyone less likely to be a detective is hard to imagine. .

I'm beginning to agree, but I think we have to make allowances. He is just trying to do his best for his granddaughter but really has no idea how to go about it - after all he was in prison for 27 years or something and then slept rough on the streets with no contact with his family. He is also very sensitive to the fact that it is due to him (in one sense) that her mother is in prison so that's another difficult issue for him to deal with.

I acknowledge everything you say. I do not even know why he annoys me, perhaps it's because it's because he does not seem to know when to stop talking. Maybe being locked up for so long with no one to talk to, he is making up for lost time.

There are a few seats still available on the minibus. Any ideas for others who might benefit Corrie by going on the trip?

It looked like Maria was chairing that Council meeting. Normally I would have thought that The Leader of the Council or The Mayor would Chair, not a newly elected member.
Maria seemed to be able to introduce new items for discussion without having them included on the agenda. If they were added under additional business, they would be discussed at the end of the meeting, and in my experience most meetings ran out of time before they got that far,

Talking of the end, can we dare to hope that the ridiculous play story has come to an end? At least it ended as it began (and continued throughout) with a completely nonsensical and unbelievable episode.

Why does Silly Billy not realize that all he has to do, to stop Summer being a surrogate, is check out the legal age to be one. If they are doing it legitimately, it should be done through a fertility clinic and they will not allow someone under age to do so. It is unlikely that Mike and Esther's solicitor, unless he is dodgy, would draw up a proper contract.

No, looks like she went to stay with Mike and Esther to be bullied into being a surrogate for them. We have not seen the last of the amazing Summer...:nono:

Minimum age to be a surrogate is 21. So how does she hope to lie through that one? In hospital, with the midwife where they check and double check name, dob, NHS number etc ? Is she going to pretend that Mike is the father ?

Yes, and Spider's superior said they went straight off and found the car but it had been cleaned out, so they found "no DNA, no fingerprints nor evidence of explosives." Griff's mates seem to have made a pretty thorough job of cleaning the car in the short time they had. Something the police could well learn a lesson from! As a keen follower of Medical Detectives on CBS Reality TV, car searches are a common part of the process of finding evidence and it takes days, sometimes weeks, to go through a car thoroughly, looking for minute traces of fibre, skin cells, prints, hair, blood etc. that can be used in evidence. Blood, in particular, is very hard to remove, even with bleach. A quick spray with Luminol and there it is. And, surely, going back to your point, SoC, there must have been a good bit of blood spilt in an explosion like that.
It's a shame the Weatherfield Police are not as efficient as their Health Service!

I am really not engaging with this racism story, or for that matter any of the current storylines. Except perhaps the "George and the Chesterfield" story, because something is bound to go wrong, and I cannot think what it will be. I was not interest in "The Play", lothario Ken's love life, Tyrone's secret wedding, again this will not run smoothly. Or Nick's never ending money worries and now his involvement with more comedy gangstars not to forget Leanne inevitably shouting and being rude and nasty to everyone whose path she crosses. I know racism is a serious matter, but Griff and his gang including unlikely undercover cop Spider come across to me like cartoon characters, and Max looks like he is permanently stoned on Ganja. I have long lost track of Stephen's plots and machinations, indeed it could be said that I have lost the plot. I am just thankful that we have been seeing less of Stu and Alya recently. Come back Mrs Cranshaw, pop into the cabin and reminisce with Brian about highs and lows of being a headteacher.

Gemma and her mother are idiots. All she needed to do was tell him not to use sign language at school.
Why shouldn't he use sign language at school?
Why shouldn't he use sign language at school?
Why does he want to ?
Why shouldn't he use sign language at school?
I like the idea, he can teach his peers and it might make some of his friends go and learn SL. I get that there are no teachers and none of his classmates would understand him yet but they will as time goes on...

Why does he want to ?
Because he knows what it's like to have a deaf brother and he was trying to teach some of the other kids some words in sign language in case they should ever need it to communicate with a deaf person so that person wouldn't feel left out, lonely and isolated. Seems like a good thing to me.
Put it another way, why does the school want to ban it?

Why does he want to ?
He was teaching them the offside rule in BSL.
Something everyone needs to know.

Sign language is for deaf people.
So why teach French or German or other languages in schools? They're for French people and German people.
Sign language is for deaf people.
And those that have had experience with family or friends that have deaf people, .. like Gemma in Corrie and the current storyline..

Teaching languages in schools is for pupils in senior schools.

I was correcting mysangry who said ?Stephen? instead of Leo who had died.
I'm sure when we were shown Leo in the skip and being dragged away, his position had changed?
Maybe he was "playing dead"
Thanks Louise, I had meant Leo, it's all the excitement that Corras giving us, when not talking bout Summer, I got confused.

Stephen moved Leo's body ... when the police search the area where Alya parked the van to find bits of the bomb they might find Leo's body..... :hmm:

So only senior pupils suffer from deafness or have connections to deaf people?

There are no deaf pupils at Joseph's school.

Bits of the bomb would not have travelled very far with that little bang. But I hope they do and find evidence it was Stephen what killed him. I've given up trying to follow all of his plots and scheming, and just want him gone.
And now we have to prepare ourselves for more gangstery nonsense with Damon and The Bistro. We have come a long way from the days of Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell and Martha Longhurst sipping a glass of stout in the snug.

So Damon is Harvey's brother & therefore Jacob's uncle? Was this ever mentioned in the past (back when Jacob was dealing out of the 'chippie')?

His father didn't exist back then.

So they are taking a page from US soaps & 'retconning' the storyline? 🙄
Thanks Dennis, I didn't think I had missed that important detail. Also, I read in one of the UK tabloids that Damon will be romancing one of the 'high-profile ladies'. Here's the blurb:
"As the year goes on, Damon has a magnetic attraction for a notable high-profile female character, who ends up having her head turned. That has far-reaching consequences."
So who do you think it might be? I personally think it should be Leanne. But if they make it Carla, I will no longer watch.

I think it would be Leanne because of their connection through The Bistro. They are already introducing tension between Leanne and Nick because he took Damon's investment without consulting her.

Of course it could be Leanne. She's a Battersby.

Please, I'm begging you Coronation Street. Please, please make it end. This Summer story is getting beyond torture now. It's definitely remote fast forward time now.

Never mind remote fast forward, this story should not be going forward at any speed. Summer is simply not old enough to be a surrogate, full stop, and stop is what they should be doing with this story. If Summer went to a fertility clinic, it would be a short conversation before she was shown the way out.

Same with Max. Just when you think a storyline has come to a natural end Corrie prolongs the agony even more.

But she has been to meetings where this was never raised, her 3 dads, who surely researched this, do not seem to know... she is 18, an adult and they cannot stop her doing from what she wants to do is all they are saying.... I sincerely hope that Summer might change her mind when Mike locks her into the nursery and leaves her without phone and her insulin but not holding my breath

Which just shows that Soaps ignore reality when it suits them for the sake of a story. Not only do you need to be 21, but I believe it is preferred if a surrogate has previously had a child.
This is so basic that surely Corrie must know. They only needed to google it ffs.

I have this awful feeling that Max will refuse to give evidence against Griff leading to his release. Which will ignore the fact that a) There were explosives in his car b) Spider has been following him all this time and will be able to give evidence against him c) He assaulted Spider and d) He assaulted David.
But, as we can see with the Summer storyline, Corrie never let facts get in the way of a story.
