Unfortunatley for Brodie, Mick is his 'dad' and a thoroughly bad influence.
The firework attack was a joint enterprise and it wasn't Zodiac's fault that he got away with it.

The whole episode made absolutely no sense to me. If Craig had been seconded to C.I.D., presumably this was a decision taken higher up than DS Swain, so how was it possible that she could send him back to being a P.C. just like that? Even if she could, Craig would not have been rostered on as a P.C. that day as he wouldn't have been expected to be on duty, so how come he was out in the patrol car?
Anyway, my main take away from tonight's episode was to discover that I have the same birthday as Kit!

It was the back of Weatherfield Precinct (audio description). My first thought when I saw Maria there. My answer, was that they could not afford an extra to play a random passer-by to find Craig, as surely would have happened in real life. But that would have denied us Maria's scenes of distress. Incidentally I found Gary's sympathy and suppor less than convincing.

I realise that the family's wishes must be taken into account, but surely a police officer murdered on duty would mean an official ceremonial police burial organised by the local police force and the Police Federation with police officers lining the route and a guard of honour etc. etc. He wouldn't just be be carted off to Norfolk for a family only burial?

I believe that although the police would offer an official ceremonial funeral, it is up to the family whether or not they wish to accept the offer. If the family only want a quiet family funeral, their wish would be respected.
In this case, it being a soap, it saves the expense of bringing back Beth and hiring lots of extras as police officers.

That is correct. At the very least the "family" would have had a visit from a very senior officer (not a D/S) and also assistance from their local Welfare Officer. The decision as to whether it is an Official Police Funeral is made by the family. They can even request that officers attending do not do so in uniform.
That said Weatherfield Constabulary seem to operate in a parallel universe with D/C Kit the Twit being lead investigator in all major crimes in the area. He is able to arrest people in the street and march them off to Waetherfield Nick. Presumably he takes the Tram as he never calls for backup or a paddy wagon to lift the arrestees.

I suppose it's because the Corrie scriptwriters are such poor writers themselves that they underestimate other writers. For a story like the one about George and Eyelash to appear in the newspaper, the journalist who wrote it would have asked them for their comments on the story before publishing it.
It's also highly unlikely the local paper would leave itself open to a libel case without checking the story first.

Does Fiona have a ready supply of MOT failures. Presumably they are quite modern cars otherwise there is no money in it. Modern cars just do not have major MOT fails nowadays. Dodgy garages used to get hold of a stolen book of MOT certificates and just fill them in and sell for more that legit ones. Now it is all done on-line and I am not sure you could get away with it for long. Is Carl a Mot Tester or is he using Kevin's log-in. Not sure if it would be easier just to fix them. You may well ask. She is another one of those random characters, never mentioned before, who just sort of appear. She turned up in Debbie's hotel, as someone from Ronnie's past, that he had some dodgy dealings with. Ronnie chickened out of new dodgy dealings and Carl took advantage of the situation to get involved.

What happened over that land deal that him and Ed had, paid for with the 'insider dealing' shares money where they were going to just be businessmen and oversee the development?
The discovery of Leo's body resulted in the developers pulling out.
Then Ronnie found out that Ed was gambling again. Ed threatened to report Ronnie for insider trading when Ronnie said that Aggie ought to be informed. The following month, their father, Sarge, arrived for a visit and asked to borrow ?2,000 from Ronnie and Ed to set up a food truck back home in Dominica, compounding Ed's financial problems. Ed gambled EdiRon's money on a horse and lost. With the true source of EdiRon's funds coming out during a family argument, Dee-Dee accused Ronnie of whetting Ed's appetite for gambling with his insider trading. She went to the police to report his crime, but changed her mind at the last moment, unable to bring herself to put a family member behind bars. Ronnie wrote off Ed's debt to the business but told his brother that they were finished as partners.

It seems so. Gary told Maria Ed was starting today. Otherwise they could not have shot that silly time wasting scene with Ed and Liam. I doubt any young person today would fall for the old "elbow grease" trick. Indeed I doubt anyone ever did, more of an urban myth, together with, "left handed hammers" and "long stands". Don't think any of the scriptwriters have ever seen a building site never mind been on one.

Barbers shops possibly money laundering, but I don't think Gary is.
Builders do not buy materials to keep it in stock, especially plaster which goes off, if kept too long. They buy it as and when it is needed for a job, but Gary does not seem to have any jobs on the go.

Maybe more scenes like this instead of the ridiculous MOT nonsense. If Carl is not actually testing the cars why is Fiona sending them to Webster's Autos? She could send the car's details to him and he could just print out the certificates. How does Carl explain why the cars are in the garage and why he does not get paid for working on them?

If she had brought her daughters she might not have been invited in, then she would not have had an opportunity to steal the money. I did not see Max and Lily, so it seemed to be adults only. But given that she cannot afford to buy food you might think she would have taken them to feed them. But then again they did not eat anything at Tim and Sally's so do not seem to be hungry. But at least this gives Sally and Tim opportunity to go to social services.

This is a very poorly written story. Maria whose dislike of Lou seems purely based on jealousy, and Gary who is too stupid to see how it looks when he is constant.y getting involved with Lou. Now, Gary who recently bought the builders yard, is off to Durham. Will he run the yard from there, or will he ask Ed, who just sold it, to step up and run it for him. That is assuming there are any jobs on the go, as we have seen little evidence of that.

When Lisa said to Brody "What are these, indigestion tablets" I thought, that's exactly what they look like. Either that or a tin of mints. But the bit I found hard to believe was that anyone would use such a large tin to carry five tablets. Surely they would be supplied in blister packs.
I do wish TV would stop showing women putting fit young men in arm locks so easily, even a strong man has difficulty doing this, if the victim resists. I know that a woman who is a highly trained martial artist probably can do this, but I do not think that Lisa is that highly trained. The average police officer receives minimal training unless they take it on them selves to seek in in their own time.

Now that they seem to be flitting between stories more, I think they just forget about what time of day and night it should be. There has been a move to extend both GP and hospital appointments to catch up with backlogs. Evening and weekend appointments are now becoming common for minor operations, scans, x-rays and blood tests etc.
