how do you delate a message Only mods and admins can delete messages and it rarely happens anyway unless a message is either pointless (lol) or the message could be interpreted as offensive etc...
If you want a message deleted, hit the Report button in the top right-hand corner of it.

If you don't want to do the Report thing because you want it deleted quickly; you could edit the message to say something like "Please delete this admin/mod" or something like that. I've known other people to do that.


and also why at the bottom of the message i write does it say edit/delate meassage when you put you mouse over it.

Because there is an option to enable users to delete posts but NB hasn't enabled it. The text probably remains the same because that is the way admins/mods delete messages, by clicking the Edit button.

a tty/tdd was a text telephone device for the deaf in the states.. every thing has an abveration U- you R- are etc,, cos we had to pay for the phone calls so the shorter the word the cheaper the call,,When I moved to Holland I was under the assumption that I would be able to get such a device here, but boy was I wrong.So once in a blue moon I have those little boo boo's that this forum calls TEXT TALK.

I dont reckon they need to be changed. If everyone had them that size, as well as signitures, they would intrude over the whole board. Plus it only takes a couple of minutes to reduce them down to 80 x 80.

The website rules that NB wrote say that all text talk is banned so words like BTW and IMO should get a warning but I'm just saying words that I wouldn't give one for.

Everybody slips in the occasional 'u' instead of 'you' and other abbreviations (and I am guilty as anyone), but what we really are targeting are those members that fail to follow the basic rules.

Personally, I couldn't care less if you slipped in the occasional abbreviation (e.g. TBH, LOL, ROTFL etc), but when the whole post becomes text talk then it will be a warning. There are a core number of people who just fail to grasp the simple rule: just write in plain English.

The other rule that seems to have bought a lot of attention is needless posts. Everyone occasionally posts the odd lol or smilie which is fine - its just when the posts start to be a load of "i know", and "me too" constantly that we need to take action. This also means that the thread normally goes off topic as well.

The main reason we have decided that enough is enough is that many of our older members are getting put off by childish posts and we have had numerous requests for the rules to be enforced. The board is open to everyone; just please abide by the rules and it makes everyones life easier.

We're not enforcing the Queen's English, and there are no concrete rules to what is and isn't allowed. The rule is no text talk, so just avoid it. I understand that posting to forums is done in informal language so I'm expecting the odd slang and abbreviations - after all, that is the beauty of language. But remember, this is a forum with a global audience, not a one to one text message you are writing.

ok thanks for that, i do normally try and write in proper english and so i was just a bit worried thats all that if i accidently wrote one word which wasnt allowed i was going to get a warning for it, so it will only be if you do it constantly? thanks for clearing that up :)

Warnings and Alerts are different levels of importance

As stated in your explanation for a warning, ASL questions are a serious breaking of rules...so a warning was appropriate for this level of rule breaking.

and im getting the sense that people think the mods are to blame for that...at the end of the day the duty of a moderator is to moderate posts and to control members by issuing alerts/warnings when necessary... but when we do so some members act immaturely and act as tough its a big misjustice...

the problems come from those who kick up the hatred against mods and hence start arguments. i dont alert/warn to be nasty or cuase arguments, however when i get backlash what else am i meant to do?
