and im getting the sense that people think the mods are to blame for that...at the end of the day the duty of a moderator is to moderate posts and to control members by issuing alerts/warnings when necessary... but when we do so some members act immaturely and act as tough its a big misjustice...

the problems come from those who kick up the hatred against mods and hence start arguments. i dont alert/warn to be nasty or cuase arguments, however when i get backlash what else am i meant to do?

i completely 100% respect the mods for what they do on here, and they do it voluntarily as well. if you do something wrong, you have to live with the consequences. its like at school, you might get told off and dont agree with it but at the end of the day the teachers in charge and probably knows better than you how to handle these things, its exactly the same on here, you do something wrong, you get an alert, you may not agree with it but thats life, you need to just accept it and move on and learn from your mistake for next time

yeh there was a problem like this before with another member i remember, they couldnt use the shoutbox cos they posted really quickly like you have and theres a 30 days setting or something to stop people spamming i think

right, just a question here. i'm not going to cause an argument but i have a polite request to know why the Bill Fans Chat Place was closed. We had an agreement with Jade becuase we kept going off topic in the other ones, so we were allowed to open this one. Sorry if it was closed for a reason other than the one stated in the thread but all i'm saying is that Jade has let us keep it.

Personally I never posted in it. I am a huge Bill fan and have been since day one. The thread had degenerated into the Samantha Nixon and Phil Hunter appreciation Society as well as the likes and loves of the posters mainly 4 or 5 regulars. The talk on it would be better off in a general chat room and not one dedicated to the superb programme that is The BILL. This is my personal view and not that of the Mods

Well i'm guessing the reason it was closed was because it was going off topic, and away from the Bill. If thats the case, then just carry on talking as you were, and i'm sure you'll have no problem with breaking the rules.

It was nothing to do with spamming, It was totally off topic and there was some people disclosing personal information... I understand if you were given permission by Jade to go a little of topic but this thread was far from a bill discussion

No ones stopping you talking about the Bill. I guess you just need to keep it specific, and talk about the spoilers in their individual threads. You can talk about the other stuff as well- theres a general discussion forum.

i dont think it has changed at all, it just there a lot more posters now and things have to be kept tidy thats all the mods are doing, thats their jobs! and if things are off topic then they should be closed other threads have closed because of off topic!

Pip_kin, I understand you annoyance but the thread was seriously of topic. It was the Bill Fan chat but there wasn't much Bill discussion on the thread so it did exclude a lot of people who wanted to talk about the bill. The last couple of post were about Little Britian... Why not set up a chatroom on msn and chat away all day. Post your spoilers and chat about the Bill Episodes on here. You do make good posts the lot of you but most people, (myself included) cannot be bothered reading through numerous posts about your two heroes and whether or not they will have an affair before we find a slight spoiler. :)

and siobhan if you read through the whole post you would find the majority is the bill yeah we have little off topic moments but they all relate back to the bill e.g little britain sally rogers is in it

I know there is a lot of Bill chat in there but the last 10 pages were totally un- bill related and as Alan has said, people who want to talk about the Bill have to read unrelated, personal posts to get to any information.

Maybe there should be a new rule where you have to put a certain amount of writing in your posts, otherwise it wont count towards your post count. For example, just saying 'lol' or 'yeah I know' wouldn't count towards your post count because it's not enough text and therefore you would have to write more for it to count.

I know it sounds a bit silly but anyway, it's just a thought... :searchme: :)I take it I sort of gave you the idea for the new rule then :D :p

Thank you Rob for saying this, it is something that I have been thinking about for a long time, if these folks do not have something constructive to add, simply DO NOT BOTHER TO POST. I am also like alan I am happy with 50 or more characters. So I support NB's decison and the Mods for 30+ or more characters. Not only will it make more sense, it will also give the students much more practice, when they have to write essays with 2000 WORDS or more:D

"That's good. The character of so-and-so could do with being a bit more restrained otherwise it makes them ...."

Wow. All of a sudden we have constructive feedback, people are thinking about what they are writing, and there is an open invite for other people to enter into the discussion.

AT, no need to be so defensive,all we are trying to do is make a point. And the point is, we are all capable of making a full sentence with 30-50 characters. It was not a direct attack to you or any one, this discussion is not about ONE PERSON, but the forum in general.:) Which is why this thread was set up to make sense of why the owner of this forum and the mods are setting up certain boundaries. In real life we have rules, codes, and laws to follow, hence the rules the owner of this forum set up.:cool:

okay mods i've made a complete pig's a**e of the calender thread. I tried to mark the new season of 24 to appear on the calendar every sunday from 12 Feb to 16 July but i somehow set it at everyday until July can someone fix it for me please. Why do people keep complaining about alerts? If you've got one, you've got one; that should be the end of it.
They should go after 30 days, NB is looking into why this isn't the case. It's irrelevent if it looks bad or whatever. Only you and the mods can see it so why is it a problem?

I hardly think its in keeping with the spirit of a minimum of 30 characters per post if members abuse it by including a lot of punctuation marks !!!!!!!!!!!!!! or question marks???????????????? In my opinion its as bad as the lol type posts.

Alan I think this is a clear cut case of laziness, remember the discussion earlier last week, that if you do not have any thing to say, then don't say it. I agree the multiple use of punctuation marks do or should not count as 30 character posts :ninja:

I closed it cause the poll was over and it was getting repetitive about Jack not been in the poll.. plus it was discussed when the poll was going on, there was two of them at the same time going and I had reports to close it too..

Hi, I can see the warning alert and have had my email, it was for text talk, but how do I find out where I posted like that? I always try and take care - do you get a warning just for one mistake?

The part of the email where it says where i can find the message is blanc, as is the part giving the detaisl for me to contact the mods and enquire.

Would appreciate any help!

i dont think there is any other way, some of the games in the fun and games forum offer money prizes if you win but other than that you can only get money through posting (thats all i know of anyway)

i dont want to sound like i'm getting at you, but adding spaces into it, to make it post isn't the idea. The idea is to make this board full of worthwhile posts. If you just add spaces to a post thats only a few words long, and doesn't add to a discussion at all, then the whole point of it is being missed.

Emotions are different though. If you use them because it does actually show sometihng in relevence to your post, then fair enough. Its just the idea of adding spaces into your post that i think is a bit pointless.

i love you contradict yourself, your suggesting that in this thread only moderators answer questions, yet you have just answered abis for her here. questions in this thread can be answered by anyone that knows, its just that the moderators generally know more than the members, hence why theyve been given the role of moderator.

this site is moderated fairly, and any alert/warn/ban given is totally justified, so i suggest you accept that you have broken the rules and been punished for it, rather than unecessarily disputing it.

im concerned that someone of your age doesent know what contradict means, the definintion for it being: to contradict is to state that something is the opposite of what has been said; a contradiction is a statement that contradicts.

by saying that mods answer in this thread, and then for you to answer, this is an example of contradiction.

The bill fans have set up their own site for frivilous talk. If you don't want to follow the rules of this site and contribute in a worthwhile manner, leave.

I've noticed there has been a rampant disregard for the site rules lately. I will have no hesitation banning those deliberately causing disruption.
