Emmerdale star Jamie Shelton has praised the decision to unite Megan Macey and Robbie Lawson as a force to be reckoned with.
Relations between mother and son were strained when Shelton's character Robbie first joined the village in 2012, but their new-found bond seems stronger than ever this week as they team up against ruthless Charity (Emma Atkins).
When Robbie discovers that an abortion clinic is among the previously-stored addresses on Charity's sat-nav, he immediately shares the bombshell revelation with his mum - pointing out that Charity has been lying about her 'miscarriage' for weeks.
Shelton told Digital Spy: "Robbie totally understands the frustration that Megan is going through. For Robbie, this is a chance to prove that he's there for his mum. He presents her with the evidence and hopes they can both bring Charity down together.
"Unfortunately Charity is quite clever and a great schemer, so she ends up getting out of it. For Robbie it's really frustrating. He knows that Charity is in the wrong and he wants to bring her down just as much as Megan does."
Reflecting on how Robbie and Megan (Gaynor Faye) have put their differences aside, he continued: "It's been good that the writers have grown their relationship that way. They haven't rushed at it, they've taken their time.
"Relationships that start out strained aren't solved overnight, because there are bridges that need to be built. It's taken two and a half years for Robbie and Megan to build those bridges, but now they have, they're the strongest that you'll ever see them.
"It's nice to see that change, rather than them just bickering at each other, especially now that Megan needs her son more than ever."

Robbie wants to expose the truth
Shelton added that he believes Robbie's loyalty towards Megan has made him appear more likeable to viewers.
He explained: "I think it was about time that they showed a different side to the character of Robbie and maybe the audience can then relate to him a little bit more. As he's close to Megan, he now has a successful relationship with somebody in the village, so I'm enjoying playing that side of things.
"I'm also grateful to be playing Robbie. He's a very complicated character and there's lots of things in his life that have not been discovered yet. It's great to consider that when I'm playing the part."
Emmerdale airs Robbie and Megan's discovery on Thursday (September 4) at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.

Yeah, Declan kills him by accident aiming for Charity I'm told.
Megan uses Robbie for her dirty work, I don't think she truly cares for him as a son

I hope everyone hates Tracy as much as I do, and I really like to see Robbie get one over on that scheming cow. Cant wait to see the back of her. Grrrr. LOL
Seems like Robbie is the one to die thursday.
Oh no say it isnt` so!!! I`ve had my fair share of disliking Robbie in the past, and even made many jokes about the sex thimble. (I`m justified because I`m horizontally challenged too - being only 5ft) But for Megan to go through so much heartache at the hands of her brother and his bee-itch of a wife is just heartbreaking. I doubt if Megan will ever forgive Declan and Charity for this.
