Emmerdale troublemaker Robbie Lawson messes with the wrong person next week as he starts targeting killer Cameron Murray.

When Robbie tries to impress Debbie Dingle by winding up Cameron (Dominic Power) as much as possible, he soon finds himself in a dangerous situation as the sinister villain bundles him into the back of his van and holds him captive.

Here, Jamie Shelton - who plays Robbie - chats about the potentially deadly showdown.

How is Robbie finding working for Debbie?
"Robbie is enjoying it very much. He's in a position where he feels that he's got power in the village. Obviously Robbie doesn't really get along with a lot of people in Emmerdale, but this new job makes him feel important and he likes that."

Does Robbie ever feel that Debbie is taking advantage of him?
"Well, Robbie has probably underestimated Debbie, but at the moment he thinks that he's on equal terms with her. Robbie knows that Debbie thinks she has the upper hand, but as far as he's concerned, he's where he wants to be and he's happy doing what he's doing. That's why he's letting it happen."

The pair of them start selling knocked-off booze, but does Robbie ever worry that he's getting in too deep with Debbie's schemes?
"No, I don't think he does. I think he's a bit oblivious to the whole thing. I think he'd even be willing to up the ante a little bit and get in even deeper. Robbie thinks that he can look after himself and he thinks he's in control.

"I don't think Robbie sees the dangers that could come from his and Debbie's actions. He's a city lad who's come to a little village and he won't be ruled by anyone there. He's very confident and boastful about whatever he does."

The tension begins when Cameron kicks Robbie out of the pub for trying to sell whisky to Zak. Does Robbie feel threatened by Cameron at that point?
"Well, I don't think Robbie knows too much about Cameron and his dark side. He probably only knows just about as much as Debbie does, as I suppose Debbie and Robbie may have had conversations about Cameron off-screen. Robbie just sees it from Debbie's point of view and therefore he's obviously not going to like Cameron. He'll make that quite clear, wanting to make Cameron feel as uncomfortable as he can.

"When Robbie sells the booze to Zak at the pub, it's a way for him to stamp his territory and say, 'I don't like you, I'll do what I like and you can't stop me'. He's trying to push Cameron, but he doesn't realise what Cameron is capable of."

Robbie warns Cameron to leave him alone because if he hurts him, the knock-on effect is that he'll hurt Debbie and that will hurt Sarah. How does Cameron react?
"He doesn't react very well at all! It's the first proper confrontation that Robbie and Cameron have. Robbie brings up Sarah in that way because he wants to push Cameron. It gets physical and it becomes a bit more serious then, but obviously Robbie loves that. He loves the fact that Cameron grips him up, because he think he's got one over on him.

"Unbeknownst to Robbie, though, Cameron's not a talker - he just does things. He's not the type of person to threaten someone and not follow it through! Robbie's in a position where it's not going to end well for him, whatever happens!"

How does Robbie and Cameron's showdown in the pub cellar come about?
"Robbie is making nasty comments at the pub and he gets a drink thrown at him by Chas. He doesn't get any backing from Debbie when she sees this, even though he's only been winding up Cameron to impress her! Debbie isn't impressed and Robbie feels that he's been embarrassed by everybody.

"Robbie storms out of the pub and sees an opportunity to get back at them. It's a rushed decision with no planning behind it. It shows the immaturity of Robbie as a person. He goes down to the cellar and he doesn't know what he's going to do at first, but then he sees some bottles and starts smashing them. But Cameron overhears!"

How does Robbie feel when Cameron confronts him?
"I think there's a little bit of fear from Robbie, as they're in a situation where they're all on their own. Robbie can see that Cameron is being a bit more serious now. Cameron says, 'We're on our own now' and makes a threatening gesture.

"For Robbie, he realises that it's serious and it's now a flight or flight situation. He chooses flight, which does suggest that he's a bit of a coward!"

It sounds like Robbie can see that Cameron means business…
"Robbie knows that it's going to get violent, basically. In their previous confrontations, Robbie felt like he had control of the situation. He didn't think that Cameron would retaliate. Yes Cameron gripped him up, but it was just a threat. However, in the cellar there's a different mood and atmosphere.

"Cameron doesn't get angry, and that's what's more threatening. He's very calm and specific towards Robbie. When he makes that threatening move, it shows that he's ready to fight, so Robbie decides to leg it and get out of there."

    What happens next?
"Robbie legs it out of the cellar doors, and Cameron chases him round the back of The Woolpack. Robbie takes a little bit of a stumble which slows him down, then Cameron whacks him up against the side of the van.

"Robbie is still cocky as he feels that he has nothing to lose after being caught. But then Cameron gives him a little punch to the ribs, which brings Robbie to his knees and basically he can't breathe. Cameron has physical power over him then and can shove him into the back of the van.

"In the van, Cameron ties Robbie up with some tape. His mouth is covered and he can't retaliate - he's powerless. The fear hits home!"

Viewers will know that this is exactly what happened to Alex. Does Robbie realise how much danger he's in?
"I don't think Robbie feels, 'Oh, I'm going to get killed here!' He just think he's going to get a pasting. But it's the calmness of Cameron that's most worrying. Cameron doesn't seem unsettled by this situation at all, and that's more worrying for Robbie.

"Cameron has got him in the back of the van and he says, 'Look, you've made me do this'. That's when the fear kicks in. Robbie isn't quite sure what's going to happen."

But then Chas finds them both!
"Yeah, she comes out of The Woolpack and shouts Cameron's name. Robbie hears that and tries to scream, but then Cameron quietens him down. He thinks Chas has gone again, but then the van door opens and there she is.

"More than anything for Chas, it's a sense of total confusion. She has no idea what's going on here, and she asks Cameron what he's doing. But you'll have to wait and see what happens next!"

Are you excited to be playing a part in such a big storyline for the show?
"Absolutely! Working with Charley Webb, Jeff Hordley, Lucy Pargeter and Dominic Power has been fantastic. They all have such a strong ability, so working against them is quite invaluable for me, actually. I'm blessed to be working with such strong characters. The other actors give you a lot in their performances, so you can give a lot back.

"I feel like all of those different characters bring out different traits from Robbie, and I try to make sure he has a unique relationship with each one. All of those actors allow me to do that.

"Obviously the material we're working with is an additional help, and it's great for me because I'm plunked right in the middle of a big storyline. Each of the characters feels strongly towards Robbie in some way, so to be part of that is amazing."

Emmerdale star Dominic Power has revealed that his character Cameron Murray is likely to kill again.

Cameron turned to the dark side late last year as he murdered bad boy Carl King in the show's 40th anniversary live episode. He then went on to kill mechanic Alex Moss in a desperate bid to keep his deadly secret under wraps.

Speaking on Daybreak this morning (March 25) about the storyline's future, Power teased: "What I've been told I can tell you is that I probably will murder again. What I can also tell you is that if anyone's asking for it right now, it's Robbie!"

Asked whether Cameron will ever get his comeuppance, he replied: "At some point, yeah, no doubt."

Power added that he was delighted to see Cameron's behaviour taking such a sinister turn.

He laughed: "Sometimes I read the scripts and I think, 'Cameron - we need to talk, mate! This is getting a bit too much!'

"It's brilliant, and the best thing about Cameron is that he started off as quite an everyman, a nice guy, a family guy - he was okay. And through the situations, he's turned into this horrible villain! So he's complicated and it's nice, because it's not just black and white simple."

Cameron's angry side returns in this week's episodes as he holds Robbie captive when the troublemaker pushes him too far.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.

Emmerdale star Jamie Shelton has admitted that his character Robbie Lawson is deluding himself when it comes to Debbie Dingle.

Robbie is currently trying his best to impress Debbie (Charley Webb), hoping that she will reciprocate his romantic feelings towards her.

A new storyline which begins tonight (May 24) sees Robbie start secretly stalking Debbie, knowing that she will think her dodgy business contact Kirk is the culprit.

Speaking on ITV's Lorraine today (May 24), Shelton explained: "He's trying to win Debbie over. He's been working for her for a while, and he's got more intentions than just being friends. He's just trying to get with her, and he's willing to do whatever it takes.

"A normal person would say, 'I like you', but he's going to play on her fears and stuff like that, so he can be around. He knows that she's isolated from her family, and he feels like he's isolated from his family.

"He's making lies up and saying Kirk's coming round and smashing windows and stuff. Then she's letting him stay at the house and he's like, 'Right okay, I can get closer to her'. It's obviously the wrong way to go about it!

"She's definitely not interested, but Robbie thinks she is interested. That's the thing, he hasn't got a clue - he really hasn't got a clue."

Shelton, who joined the cast of Emmerdale a year ago, added that he is relishing playing such a villainous character.

He commented: "There's so much to play around with. I was saying to someone yesterday that he's a great character to play, because everybody that the character comes into contact with on the show feels something towards him.

"Whether that's a loathing or they like him - which is probably not what it is because nobody likes him - most people feel strongly towards him. It's great to play."

Emmerdale troublemaker Robbie Lawson does a disappearing act next week after being involved in a hit and run.

The drama begins when Robbie and his new mate Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) steal Cain Dingle's car following an afternoon drinking at the pub.

Unsurprisingly, the pair's reckless actions have dire consequences as they knock down Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) in the road. After fleeing from the scene, a cowardly Robbie decides to leave the village for a while…

Here, Jamie Shelton - who plays Robbie - gives his take on the dramatic storyline.

What did you make of Robbie stalking Debbie?
"I think Robbie was just trying to get a bit closer to Debbie. He knew that she'd become distant from her family, so he could see that she was alone. Robbie just wanted to use the stalking to win over Debbie, because obviously his intentions go beyond friendship. Unfortunately, Robbie's the sort of person who has to do something twisted like this to get close to someone! It's pretty sad."

How does Robbie feel about Debbie after she grasses him up to the police?
"I think he's a bit hurt, because he thought that Debbie was starting to like him and he thought that he was getting somewhere with her. In Robbie's eyes, Debbie has now betrayed him so he's feeling bitter now and quite furious! He's keen to get revenge."

Does Robbie have a specific plan for revenge?
"I don't think he's got a solid plan. He just knows that he will do something and he won't let it lie. He's waiting to see which opportunities crop up. Robbie has also got a new alliance with Adam there, so he's trying to think of how to involve him in the revenge plan, too!"

Why have Robbie and Adam become friends?
"They've got a common enemy now - the Dingles! I think that's what has brought them together. Robbie doesn't really have any other friends in the village. Nobody really likes him, and he doesn't really like anyone else.

"It's the first time we've had Robbie with someone of his own age, who he can relate to. As well as seeing this as an opportunity to get revenge on Cain and Debbie, it's also an opportunity to make a little bit of a friend as well."

Robbie also covers for Adam when Debbie reports them to the police, doesn't he?
"He does, and that's because he does like Adam. He does want to be his mate. Robbie decides not to grass up his mate, and that brings them a bit closer together."

How does the revenge plan with Cain's car come about?
"They're all in the pub when Adam goes to the toilets and Cain follows him in. Robbie doesn't know what's happening in there, but he seizes an opportunity. He goes over to Cain's coat which is left in the bar area, and he takes his keys. Robbie probably thinks that he can sell the car to pay off the fine he's recently received, and get Cain and Debbie back in the process."

How drunk are Robbie and Adam when they set off in the car?
"Well, they've been in the pub all

    Who's driving?
"Both of them, actually! Robbie's driving at first, but it's a bit too erratically for Adam's liking, so they switch over. When Adam's driving, that's when the crash happens!

"Just before the crash, Robbie is distracting Adam. He's not doing it on purpose, it's just that he's being a bit bouncy and erratic. That takes Adam's eyes off the road, and then when that happens, they don't see that someone's in the road and they hit her."

Are either of the boys injured?
"No, neither of them are injured. They're just a bit shaken up, confused and panicked. They stop the car and see a body in the street. Adam wants to get out and see who it is, but Robbie says they have to get off. He's just been in court and has to stay out of trouble, so he's thinking of himself."

Is that why Robbie heads off to Manchester and leaves Adam to it?
"Yeah, it's purely selfish reasons! He just gets off to Manchester with no thought on the effect that's going to have on Adam. He just totally goes back to being selfish Robbie. He's only thinking of himself, but it's because he knows he'll be in trouble with the police and will probably end up serving some sort of sentence if he got caught."

Does Robbie worry that the victim is dead?
"Yeah, I think if he wasn't worried about that, he'd be a psycho! It's one of those cases where you make a rash decision not to get out of the car and drive off. The decision is made and Robbie knows that he has to live with it now. He's going to pretend that it didn't happen and run away from the problem."

Will this ruin Robbie's friendship with Adam?
"Yeah, I definitely think it will damage it. Robbie has betrayed Adam, because he should have been there for him and they should have dealt with this together. This could have been an opportunity for them to really be mates and stick by each other, but obviously Robbie's instinct took him away from that.

"Taking off away from the village does damage the relationship with Adam, which is a shame because Robbie had liked having a new pal."

What was the crash like to film?
"It was great! It was a great day and amazing to see the effort that goes into it. You might just think that you turn up, act the scene and then it's done, but there's actually a huge amount of effort from the crew and all the Emmerdale team. It's quite amazing and it also puts the pressure on a little bit, because we have to put our all into it as actors.

"Me and Adam didn't really get to do any of the stunts, as they had a team of stunt coordinators in who did it all for us. We got to see it from the other side, and it was great to see."

Are you enjoying working with Adam Thomas?
"Yeah, it's great to be working with the younger cast and someone I can really relate to. It's good and we've had some nice scenes. We've had a bit of banter on screen and it's a bit more close to home in terms of the conversations you'd have in real life with your actual mates. It's really fun."

Do you socialise with the cast outside of work?
"Yeah, as much as possible, really! I take the opportunity to mix as much as I can and take part in as many events as I can. Obviously I love all the cast and I like to spend time with them."

Emmerdale star Jamie Shelton has revealed that there is no romance on the cards for his character Robbie Lawson.

The actor, who has been on the soap for over a year now, has said that he doesn't believe anyone in the Dales would want to date his alter-ego.

Shelton said to Inside Soap: "I think it's quite unlikely that anyone in the Dales would ever want to date Robbie.

"I don't blame them either - he's such a creep! But I have thought before that it would be interesting to see Robbie with Nicola because she hates him."

Shelton also revealed that he likes to party with his co-stars when he is not busy filming.

He said: "Wil Johnson (Dominic Andrews) has recently started doing DJ nights, so we make a monthly commitment to go and watch him 'on the ones and twos', as they say.

"He's always the last man standing because he doesn't get to have a drink!

"I also spend a lot of time with 'The Three Geordies', as I call them - Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt), Chelsea Halfpenny (Amy Wyatt) and Isobel Hodgins (Victoria Sudgen).

"She actually talks like them now and everything - she's totally forgotten her Manchester roots!"

Emmerdale continues tonight (August 1) at 7pm on ITV1.
