That's now 31 questions to be submitted by Hannelene...

I am trying to think how personal these questions are going to be. 30 general questions is an awful lot for one person, unless they're the "tea or coffee?" type.

Norman Bates Interview

1. What made you join SoapBoards and how has your time on here changed over the years?

Not really a question of why I joined SB but really why it started off in the first place.
I don't have time to watch soaps, but like to know what storlines are coming just so I can annoy everyone in my family. The BBC boards is where I'd read the spoilers and when they closed down spoilerboards was born (later rebranded as Soapboards). Over the years I'm pleased to say I've seen a lot of people mature on SBs which wasn't the case initially (you all know who you are!).

2. What are your Hobbies and how did you get into them?

I really have two hobbies: computers and motorbikes. Computers I have been into since the early days of the vic/speccy/bbc - I think I was about 8 when I got interested in them. I can remember spending hours at the local Asda messing about on the computers on display. My parents finally conceeded and bought me one for 300 which back in the day was a lot of money. Best investment they ever made in me. Originally the plan was to play games but I quickly became bored with that and became interested in how I could write applications for them. I think I was 11 when I wrote a fully working spreadsheet in BASIC.
My other passion is motorbiking. I got into this by accident really. A friend was already into it, but I was of the attitude its too dangerous. Then I went on a holiday and rode about on a 125cc. After that I had the bug. Came back to the Uk, got my CBT done and a few months later passed my bike test. This year I'm planning on doing more touring and race track days.

3. Do you have any special talent or ability?

Not really

4. Do you have a favourite quote from literature, TV, a famous person, etc.? Explain why it is your favourite.

"By any means neccessary" - Malcolm X. Actually, it's part of a bigger quote: "We declare our right on this earth to be a man, to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary". Read about it on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/By_any_means_necessary

5. What do you consider your best physical feature and your best aspect of your personality?

All of them :D Best aspect of my personality is my all round friendliness

6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Be less trusting

7. Do you have a life philosophy? Is so, what is it?

"**** it"

8. What are the happiest and Saddest moments of your life?

Happiest - birth of my children and watching them grow up. Saddest is the day my mum died.

9. What’s the craziest thing you've ever done?

Running across a dual carriageway and getting whacked by a car. Lucky to be alive. This back in the old days of schools where we got caned. The rule at our school was if you are late for registration three times you got caned. Having been late twice already, I was in a rish to get to school. So I ran out in front of a bus and got whacked by a car. Broke my tubula/fibula/rib/cheek. Right eye popped out of socket. Looked right out of a horror movie

10. Do you have any regrets, if yes, what and why?

I have tons of regrets but the paradox is I don't regret them because its made me the person I am today.

11. who’s your Idol and why?
Don't have idols. I have people who I admire. From sports it is Muhammad Ali who transcended sport. I know people talk about Michael Jackson but true fame is what Ali achieved. Summed up by one quote "Even the people that hate Ali love Ali". The other is probably more controversial: Malcolm X. IMHO, totally misunderstood and he was one of the drives for change in America. The Govt. of the time had two options: either listen to Martin Luther King, or be confronted by the nationalist views of Malcolm X". MLK was the safe option. I really recommend reading the autobiography of Malcolm X. It is a real eye opener. In fact, I could probably do a mastermind on Ali And Malcolm X.

12. If were an animal what would you be and why?

An eagle. The freedom to fly is enough for me.

13. If you were any object, what would you be and why?

Easy - the TARDIS

14. What quality do you like best in a person and what quality do you hate the most?

I like people who are decent. I really detest slimy grease balls

15. If heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

I can tell you want I DON'T want to hear: "wrong turn I'm afraid"

1. How has being a father changed you?

The wife would probably say it hasn't! I don't really think about myself any more, everything is for the kids. Children take up a lot of time but I wouldn't have it any other way

2. Did you enjoy living in Scotland?

Loved it. Nice, peaceful, friendly people. I would say you have more time in Scotland as not everything is rushed. Best part was managing to get super fit as I had so much time on my hands.

3. Do you still watch soaps?

Not really. Don't have the time tbh. I do try and watch Lost, Dexter etc.

Submitted by Siobhan :

1) what is your favourite type of frog

Any that I can't see

2) who would win in a fight, Rimmer or Norman Bates

Rimmer would be too much of a coward to turn up. If he did turn up, he'd probably win because of the underhand dirty tricks he has up his sleeve

3) How far do you think a hamster would fly if you kicked it?

Probably further than the dog I kicked yesterday (only j/k). Dunno how far. Shall we try and see?

4) A beard of fleas or a beard of bees, choose?

I've seen pics of beards made of bees and they don't look that bad, so bees.

5) If tigers were purple do you think I can have a giraffe?

Yes.

6) Do you understand the above question? if yes,

Yes

7) can you explain it to me?

Nellie is a pink elephant.

Submitted by Abigail:
Have you joined the mile high club?

There's hardly room for one person to tango, so no

What are your views on the Afghanistan war?

Bring our soldiers home firstly. I see too many parallels with 1984 e.g. "The war is really about peace" was quoted in 1984 and then Bush users the exact same phrase for justification. The war on terror is a perpetual war. If the politicians feel that strongly about it, let them send their children to the front line. Last time I checked there weren't any.

Apart from Prince, who is your favourite music artist?

Don't really have one. After Prince it's more of the 80s genre.

Nights out or nights in?

Too old, so nights in.

There’s a spider on your pillow when you go to bed. Do you scream and get your wife to move it or deal with it yourself?

Deal with it myself - normally with a vacuum cleaner

Submitted by Chloe O'brien :

1)What made you come up with the idea of soapboard and is it as successful as you hoped it would be?

It was originally just for spoilers and the idea came about when the BBC shutdown their boards. I wouldn't say its a success on the scale of DS, but that's partly because I don't have the time to invest in the site. I have tons of ideas, just no time to do implement them.

2) Has Mrs Bates ever shown and interest in joining SB and would you let her knowing she could be corrupt?

She is a member on here. She obviously isn't going to admit it in any of her posts!

3) Given that SB is almost 5 years old now and there is a number of members who clearly are not right in the head, have you every regretted granting anyone a membership?

Not really. Think about how dull SBs would have been without some of the characters. I won't name names, but we'd had the outrageous, the fickle, and the plain stupid.

4)How did you go about picking the mods when SB was first set up?

I just looked at how people posted I think. I think I made one big mistake though!

5) when we met up in Livingston with Luna and Trin. Did you not feel stupid sitting in waterstone wearing a motorbike helmet?

The Stig must always protect his identity.

Posted by Perdita

1. s/a/l
M/37/Yorkshire

2. Who decided on the name SoapBoards and why is it called SB?

It was Spoilerboards originally. Decided to rebrand as the site wasn't just about spoilers and Soapboards was born

What is your favourite pudding?

I have a sweet tooth. I love Rass Malai and also Toffee Pudding with Icecream. Drooling just thinking about it

TBH, I've not seen a go-kart in years. I still have a scar on my knee when we raced downhill on the road and had to swerve to avoid a car. Saw the white of the meat before it went all red.

Told my parents I'd fallen over a brick. I'd have been getting stitches elsewhere if I'd told them the truth

1) Have you ever played any pranks on your fellow colleagues as an undertaker?Yes, the usual ones like somebody lying under the sheet in the mortuary or lying in a coffin until someone lifts the lid. They rest of the pranks are too rude to tell on here

2) If Mrs Alan wanted to join SB would you let her and would you tell us who she was?She wouldnt even know how to switch the computer on

3) If you were the director General of the BBC or ITV, which programmes would you axe and what would you replace them with. All those daft programmes like Big Brother which are in my opinion an insult to peoples intelligence. Get non politically correct people to write Deadenders. Imagine how many doctors and nurses we could have with Ross's salary.

4) If you were Prime Minister how would you run the country?
Jail all muggers and people involved in knife crime. Bring back the death penalty for murder, rape and similar crimes. Put a limit on immigration. Leave the EU and make sure that our Police, Armed Forces and Health Service were given all the resources they need

My dad was a cop, he was at Aberfan when I was a small child helping to dig those kids bodies out, and was still a cop during the miners strike in the '80s. It can be a really tough job, and the shifts are hellish for family life. I can remember Santa coming early for 7 years in a row because Dad was working. My brother and I would take the dog a walk, and hey presto, Father Christmas had dropped the presents off at our house early cos it was already Christmas in Australia and he knew Dad was working.

We always had a fab Christmas - my parents love the whole family thing and would do anything possible to make sure we had a great time.

I kept getting into arguments with people on there:nono: :nono: and was continually getting banned :readtheru and re registering. Im a lot more circumspect on there now and my cover has not been blown yet. To be honest though SB is a much friendlier place and the EE Fans on here dont wear blinkers or rose tinted glasses. I have mellowed in my old oge now and have moderated my views.

2. What are your Hobbies and how did you get into them?
Computers and Photography. I got my first computer (if you could call it that in 1980. It was a state of the Art Sinclair ZX80

3. Do you have any special talent or ability?

I can do impressions of local celebs and politicians

4. Do you have a favourite quote from literature, TV, a famous person, etc.? Explain why it is your favourite. It would have to be ....''Ask not what your country can doi for you but what you can do for your country.'' This was made by the late JFK on his inaururation as President of the USA. If everyone adopted that attitude instead of the gimme gimme attitude then the UK would be a better place. I also admired Co. Tim Collins speech to his troops on the eve of the invasion of Iraq. No matter what you thought about the invasion I thought his speech was superb

5. What do you consider your best physical feature and your best aspect of your personality?Nothing in particular. My sense of humour

6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Lose about 3 stone

7. Do you have a life philosophy? Is so, what is it?

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday

Live each day as if it was your last. Some day you will be right
8. What are the happiest and Saddest moments of your life?

Happiest mmm Id need to think. Saddest was the sudden death of my mother.
9. What’s the craziest thing you've ever done?

10. Do you have any regrets, if yes, what and why?

Je ne regret rien. Of course I have made mistakes in life and if I were to live my life over again I would still make the same ones again.

11. who’s your Idol and why?

I know this will be controversial but I admired Maggie Thatcher although I wouldnt say she was my idol

12. If were an animal what would you be and why?
A dog

13. If you were any object, what would you be and why?

A mirror because people would look at me all the time.

14. What quality do you like best in a person and what quality do you hate the most? Honesty and a sense of humour. I hate bigots and racists oh yea an liars too

15. If heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?Hello Alan, theres been a mistake. You arent due here for another 50 years

1-Do you think being a teenager in this day and age is easier than it was when your parents were teenagers ??
Harder. More things to be influenced by. More social influences to do stuff. More advertising/celeb culture whereas in there time it would've been stuff like David Attenborough, who is a cool person to look up to but now you get people who are famous and get looked up to just for being on reality shows or similar. Those people shouldn't be role models.

2-You have been chosen to win 2 million pounds but in order to win it you have to work in a slaughter house for 72 hours, would you?
I reckon I could manage it.

3-Have you ever met any one on the internet in person?
No, not yet.

4- Would you say you are very religious ??
No. Don't go to church. Dunno what I believe.

5-Name the titles of the most impressive songs you have heard since the begining of this year?
Black eyed Peas - I gotta feeling. :D

6- A guy you have hung out with forever tells you that he is secretly seeing this older married woman for some time now you: A-HIGH FIVE HIM
B-tell him you feel this is wrong
C- say nothing
C - say nothing.

7-You have a date.. the guy you are with at dinner keeps getting SMS messages during dinner and, every time he gets a text he says I REALLY HAVE TO TAKE THIS,,do you put up with it or excuse yourself and grab a taxi and leave?
Leave. :p

8-Have you ever personally met one of your favorite celebrities ??? If you have, who was it and where ?? If you haven't who would it be ?
No not yet. And Hugh Laurie.

Chloe O'briens Interview
1. What made you join SoapBoards and how has your time on here changed over the years?
1) I used to read the posts and spoilers on the bbc board and I thought about joining it but by the time I worked up the courage to join they had announced they were closing it so I didn't bother. I followed the link to hear and lurked about a bit before I joined. I was terrified to join because I thought no-one would speak to me.
2. What are your Hobbies and how did you get into them?
2)I don't have many hobbies apart from reading as I'm usually busy taking Marley to judo or other activites. I would like to take up a dance class like salsa or do pole dancing like Shiv. but there's nothing like that near were I live.
3. Do you have any special talent or ability?
3)No sorry. I'm very boring but I have a big heart.
4. Do you have a favourite quote from literature, TV, a famous person, etc.? Explain why it is your favourite.
4) It may not be a famous quote but it sum's my life up and it bought a tear to my eye when I heard it. It's from the disney film Lilo and Stitch. Stitch is about to be shipped back to the planet he came from and he is brought in front of the ailen court. He gives his reasons for wanting to stay with Lila. He tells the Ailen Council. "This is my family, it is small and broken but it's still good."
Those 13 words are Marley and me.
5. What do you consider your best physical feature and your best aspect of your personality?
5) My breasts. I see loads of women on the telly having implants to make their boobs bigger and I think mines are stil bigger and their home-grown.
I'm loyal and caring I would give my last penny away.
6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
6) My eyes. I've had a lazy eye since I was three and my eyesight is poor. I hate getting my photo taken because it shows up. It turns inwards when I'm tired or drunk. It used to be quiet bad when I was younger. my sisters and brothers used to call me Clarence after the ****-eyed lion on a programme called Daktari.
7. Do you have a life philosophy? Is so, what is it?
7)What's meant for you won't pass you by.
8. What are the happiest and Saddest moments of your life?
8)Happiest Having Marley. Saddest. Loosing both my parents within 4 months to cancer.
9. What’s the craziest thing you've ever done?
9)Me and my mate Susan once hotwired a newspaper van when we came out of a nightclub at 4am one morning. It was freezing and we were starving but the kebab shop was a mile and a half away. We spotted this van. the guy had left the keys while he made deliveries to the shops so we hijacked it. She worked the gears and I drove. We dumped it round the corner from the kebab shop.
10. Do you have any regrets, if yes, what and why?
10) No regrets you can't go back. I have been disapointed at how somethings have turned out, but if they're not meant to be then there's nothing you can do to change it.
11. who’s your Idol and why?
11) Judy Garland or Viven Leigh. I used to loved watching the old movies on a saturday afternoon. Musicals were my favourite.
12. If were an animal what would you be and why?
12) A lion. I'm fearless protective of those I love and care about and will defend anyone. I can be cuddly and caring, but get on my badside and you will hear me roar.
13. If you were any object, what would you be and why?
13)One of Orla Jordan's outfits on SCD.
14. What quality do you like best in a person and what quality do you hate the most?
14)I like someone who can make me laugh. Snobbery. I hate people who think they are better than others.
15. If heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
15) I would like to think that St Peter would say. Ah look my Lord we have a lost lamb returning to the flock. But in the words of the great Chris Martin. I know Staint Peter won't call my name.

1. Do you speak any other language apart from English (Scottish :p )

Sadly no. I did get taught a little latin at school but I have forgotten. I would love to learn to speak Gaelic. It should be mandatory in Scottish Schools.
2. Where do you work and is it something you always wanted to do?

I worked in a further education college, where I'm the clerical for the Science, sport and engineering faculty. I only learned office skills ten years ago after having Marley I returned to full-time education to learn new skills. Since leaving school I have done a number of jobs. When I was at school I was interested in joinery and technical drawing and I was planning to work in that trade, but the old dragon of a school nun destroyed that idea. I was supposed to go out on a month long work placement with a joinery firm but Sister Mary Rose who was my guidence teacher blocked it as she decided that I should use the time to study for my exams so I never go to go on placement. After that I lost interest in school and joinery as soon as I was 16 I was out of there and went into the big bad world of employment.

3. Marshmallows or whipped cream with a hot chocolate?

Neither I just prefer plain hot chocolate.

Submitted by Siobhan

1) Which of the SBBB characters did you enjoy playing the most?

Probably the first one Odessa. I was fairly new to SB when the idea of SBBB came about I thought it would be a good way to meet and chat to other members. But I read the instructions wrong and blew my cover before the game began. My chloe account was only at about 500 posts and on the instructions it said we had to be at over 1000 before SBBB started. I panicked as I thought it meant the Odessa account had to be over 1000 posts so I started spamming the boards posting everywhere, until I got a row from Bryan  This was 2 weeks before SBBB had even started. By the time SBBB began I had been rummbled it was the worst kept secret in soapboards. but it was a laugh.

2) If you were not doing what you are doing now, what would you like to be doing?

I enjoy the work that I'm doing at the moment, I could do with more hours. Apart from that I would have like to have stuck with the joinery or work with Animals. Maybe a vet.

3)Which 3 items could you not live without?

Ipod, watch and scottish blend tea-bags.

4)Which 3 people would you miss most in your life?

1)Marley without a doubt. I wasn't particuarly maternal before I had Marley, but since she has been born. I can't remember what my life was like before I had her.
2) My friend Michelle who's only a phone line away.
3) And my brother Iain. When we were kids we fought like cat and dog, but is the first person who would be there if I need him. When I was 17 my mum had a terrible accident in the house. She fell down the stairs and suffered brain damaged, she was in a coma for three months. There were many times when we thought she would not make it. The day after the accident we were all at her bedside and she was hooked up to every machine you could think of. My brother said to me don't worry whatever happens I'll always look after you.

5)M&M or smarties?

Smarties because of the different colours. I've got some pink ones for Christmas.

6)What is your favourite: a) colour b) CD 3) movie

Black because I mostly wear it,
Coldplay X&Y or a CD called The same sky by a scottish band named Horse.
Wizard of Oz

7)Which reality show do you watch?

Scrictly come dancing.

Submitted by Norman Bates
1. a/s/l

42, Female, Edinburgh

2. Why Chloe O'Brien? Are you a geek?

Everyone who knows me on here knows that 24 is my favourite show. Chloe O'brien is a computer geek and loyal friend to Jack Bauer. Chloe first appeared in 24 in season 3 and I loved her. She is the only one who is not afraid to stand up to Jack. I suppose I am a bit like her in someways I can have a costic tongue on me when things are not done right and people pi$$ me off.

3. Would you open Pandora's box?

I had to think about this and I've choosen yes I would open Pandora's box. Throughout history there have been many tragedies with world wars, 9/11 and the Tsunami but my belief in what humans are capable of has always amazed me. No matter what horrors we face. If we support one another, through determination and courage we can overcome anything.

4. Least favourite pass time?

Ironing I hate it.

5. What's your view on Scottish independence?

Not for it. Scotland would not survive without the rest of the UK despite how patriotic I am about Scotland. Alex Salmond and SNP being in charge of the Scottish Adiminstration is the worst thing to happen to Scotland since Thatcher the milk snatcher was in power.

6. Pull out a skeleton from your cupboard?

I have taken drugs. Cannabis and speed. When I worked night-shift in a casino me and my mates used to put the hash in coffee and be stoned every night at work. Even when I went clubbing I always took drugs.

7. Your least favourite SBs member and most favourite?

I've been lucky I'v not had a fallen out with anyone on here, but what does get on my nerves are the spammers who come on to spam pointless posts. Favourite member Lord to many to mention. I love you all but if I have to pick one I would choose Bryan because he was the first person to relpy to my posts when I first join SB.
8. Most common white lie you tell?

You know me I'm not one for gossip.

I didn't know of the sadness and tragedy in your family, and I think that it says a lot about you that you are not bitter.

Your big heart is obvious in your posts, and the fact that you care for people you haven't even met on these boards.

I really admire you as someone whose glass is half full, and who knows what is important in life.

I love musicals too, but sci fi wins out - Live Long and Prosper!

Moonstorms Interview

1. What made you join SoapBoards and how has your time on here changed over the years?

I was looking for some spoilers and found this, joined March 05! It took me ages to post but now getting quiet good at it.

2. What are your Hobbies and how did you get into them?

Have three kids so don't really have time for hobbies.

3. Do you have any special talent or ability?

Well it's definately not my singing voice!! I can wrap my legs round my head, does that count?

4. Do you have a favourite quote from literature, TV, a famous person, etc.? Explain why it is your favourite.

"Frankly my dear, I just don't give a damn", from Gone with the Wind, just cos he was so sexy, I justed to go around saying this all the time when I was younger.

5. What do you consider your best physical feature and your best aspect of your personality?

Physical feature are my eyes (though Hubby says boobs), personality - I think I am a good listener.

6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

It would have to be my nose, it has a big bump in it!

7. Do you have a life philosophy? Is so, what is it?

Live and let live. I don't like labels that people will insist on giving people.

8. What are the happiest and Saddest moments of your life?

When my son got meningitis, he was not expected to live, that was the worst time in my life, thankfully he pulled through and today is a normal healthy, pain in the A**e teenager!

9. What’s the craziest thing you've ever done?

Haha, I have no idea where to start, I was pretty wild in my younger days and did daft things all the time - I suppose coming to Gibraltar with no where to stay and fifty pounds in my pocket was pretty daft. Oh how sensible we get when we get older, sure wouldn't do it now.

10. Do you have any regrets, if yes, what and why?

Nope go regrets, don't have time and they are a complete waste of energy, no point in regretting something that you can't change.

11. who’s your Idol and why?

My mum, she has come through so much and always stays strong, plus she managed to bring me up and not go mad.

12. If were an animal what would you be and why?

A cat - have to seen the life mine lead, pure indulgence.

13. If you were any object, what would you be and why?

Duvet - so I could snuggle people.

14. What quality do you like best in a person and what quality do you hate the most?
The worst is someone that is two-faced, I like to know where I am with people.
And the best is loyality, poeple who stand by you, no matter what.

15. If heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

She would say - HiYa Babes, shops on the left, parties on the right.

1. Why 'moonstorm'? Interesting name.

I have a terrible memory so I needed one name I could use for everything (internet wise) so I chose the name of my boat. So if you ever see a Moonstorm anywhere else - that's me.

2. Have you always lived in Gibraltar or how come you live there now?

I moved to Gibraltar when I was 21, I was living in Glasgow before that. I was very bored there and wanted to travel. I did want to go to India (to discover myself lol) but my Mum wouldn't let me/turst me, so I chose Gib as a safe second choice never intending to stay but 20 odd years later I'm still here. Time just goes too quickly!!
3. Do you like/wear jewellery?

Yes love jewellery but end to wear the same things all the time as I nver have time in the morning to choose earings, etc. I especially love sparkley things - Swarofski is my fav.

Submitted by JustJodi

1-Have you ever been fired/sacked from a job??

Unfortunately yes when I was in Glasgow. I was a receptionist and it was very boring. I took a week off and never phoned in. When I went back I was fired but have had clean record ever since.
2-When, if ever, do you think it is okay to tell a lie?
3-What do you sing in the shower, if you do sing?

Haha, yes the shower is the only place I am allowed to sing. I can't even carry a tune in a bucket as my lovely husband tells me so I sing loud and proud in the shower.

4- What have you noticed is the biggest change in East Enders or your favorite shows???

Himmm this is a difficult one. I used to watch Hollyoaks every day but it is not holding my attention at the moment which I am not sure if it is because it is not very good at the moment or I have just out grown it. I think Eastenders was definately better in the old days as it was fresher.

5- Have you met any one in person from this forum ?? If so who?? If not who would U like to meet ??

No, unfortunately I havn't me anyone. I think you would be very interesting to meet as we are both in HR and you seem a very caring person but as I am very nosy I would like to meet everyone and see what they look like.

6- Have you met any of your favorite soap stars in person, did u get an autograph, photo, a chat ??

Again no but I did meet George Hamilton walking down the Main Street of Gib once and got his autograph - does that count? Oh and Nigel Havers came into the bar I was working in, they were both lovely and didn't mind giving autographs/photos.

7-What really gives you the creeps?

Moths - I just can not stand them, they make me feel sick. Oh and people with weak handshakes, I always want to wipe my hand after shaking hands with someone like that.

8-If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along?
People - Hubby and kids
Food - Chocolate, Pate, Cheese, Bread, Ice Cream
Movies - Gone with the Wind, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Trainspotting, It's a Wonderful Life and Dial M for Murder
Books - As really can't choose books, I read non stop and it all depends what mood I'm in as to what my favs are, I honestly can't narrow this one down.

Submitted by Abbie

Whats your favourite thing about Soapboards?

Well it's a couple of things, firstly it saves me watching telly, I can just read/catch up on wht is happening here and secondly I have been a member here for so long that I feel I know lots of you and like to hear how you are all doing.

What do you do for a living?

I work in a Ship's Agents office as Office/HR Manager. Basically we look after the ships that come into Gibraltar Port. We organise their refuelling, crew changes, store requirements etc.

If you could be in any soap, or drama series, what would you be in and who would you like to be friends with, in love with and rivials with?

Oh now if would have to be Hollyoaks, I want to be glamerous all the time, I would probably be rivials with the McQueens, have a wee thing toyboy with Calvin (love him in Strictly!) and be friends with Frankie and Nancy.

Jodi, I have a few questions leading on from the above.

1. What did you study at uni?
criminal justice/

2. Were you born deaf or did the deafness occur later in life as a result/complication of something else?
I was 7 yrs old, got the mumps from some kids that were playing in our back yard,, lost it all when I woke up one morning,,

3. How did you adjust to living in a different country and a different language being a deaf person? I don't know how many people can sign in Holland but was it doubly hard to live in a new environment and not be able to hear people? How do you get on when you ask for something in the shops when alone?
Most of the shop keepers in my village know me and know I am deaf and a YANK,,, they go out of their way to speak English to me, and if they are not sure of a word,, they describe something to me then I give them the English word, I praise them when they use their English( weither or not i CAN hear them they are still tickled pink that I praised them ), sign language in Holland is not the same as American, ( neither is BSL ,, sign language is not UNIVERSAL ) The deaf people I have met are unfriendly any way,, so I do not make an effort to hang out with them,, tried so many times to make an effort,, so I stopped trying :-(
I was not offered the "free" DUTCH lessons like every new comer that moves to Holland, cos they just didn't know what to do with me, so I fell deep in the cracks, but I do have a perment residency permit,, can not apply for a Dutch passport cos I did not take the IMBURGERING ..
I have a wonderful female doctor, she speaks English.. we get on real well..I also have superb dentist too,, so I have been blessed to be in the right place and at the right time :-)

I can pretty much handle myself in Holland,I have only had one or two "minor incidents"..it didn't involve the LAW lol
Kim speaks English really well ( His mom is half Brit and Half Dutch)and knows some sign language,,,so our communication is covered LOL

Perditas Interview
1. What made you join SoapBoards and how has your time on here changed over the years?
I have a friend who always knew what was happening on Corrie and told me about spoilers. I googled it and looked at a few forums and decided this one was the one I liked best.
I am very shy person to person and have found I have become more confident in voicing my opinions on here although I still delete a lot of posts before submitting them :)

2. What are your Hobbies and how did you get into them?
I used to be very sporty, did martial arts for a few years, tennis and squash. A few years ago I did bellydancing and have found a studio near where I live a couple of years ago and that
what I like to do now. The other hobbies are watching the soaps, much to OH's despair

3. Do you have any special talent or ability?
No, I don't think so.

4. Do you have a favourite quote from literature, TV, a famous person, etc.? Explain why it is your favourite.
I don't know where it is from but "Although there is sometimes sadness in what we must leave behind, there is always joy in our hopes for each new tomorrow".
It omes up how I deal with changing circumstances.

5. What do you consider your best physical feature and your best aspect of your personality?
My eyes, I guess, once they are made up :ninja: I am a very good listener, empathic and try to help others as much as they let me.

6. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Be slimmer again

7. Do you have a life philosophy? Is so, what is it?
Treat others the way you like to be treated yourself

8. What are the happiest and Saddest moments of your life?
Birth of my son, death of my parents within 6 months of each other

9. What’s the craziest thing you've ever done?
Ride an elephant on a beach in Sri Lanka, they are so smelly

10. Do you have any regrets, if yes, what and why?
I don't have regrets as I believe that all we experience is a lesson in life. I am sorry for some things I have done or said but I hope I have learnt from my not so good experiences.

11. who’s your Idol and why?
Don't have one

12. If you were an animal what would you be and why?
Cat or dog, I would be taken into a home where people love me as I am and I can return my affection unconditionally too.

13. If you were any object, what would you be and why?
Kettle, people like kettles at any time of the day :)

14. What quality do you like best in a person and what quality do you hate the most?
I take people as they are because I hope they take me as I am. I hate being lied to, I am too honest for my own good at times.

15. If heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
Welcome, you have done good.
