I'm planning a weekend away with a few friends. Originally the plan was to go to Wales and stay in a log cabin. Now we're going to Scotland camping. In December. I'm not sure everyone has realised just how cold it gets up there. The place we want to stay is out of our budget so we either camp or drive long distances.

Still, it should be fun and we all need a break. Even if we will be freezing to death in the middle of a forest

It is indeed cold up here, wrapping up warmly is a plan when you come up here Abigail. Where about in Scotland will you be camping?

Galloway Forest Park. It was recently named as the darkest sky outside of America so we're going star gazing.

It isn't too cold at the moment - about 8 oC, but it is blooming wet - especially in Dumfries and Galloway.

The forecast is for a drier day today and getting colder.

Wrap up VERY warm and keep dry!

The camping trip may be off. It's all kicking off at the university again over a link posted on the union website. Sometimes I honestly wonder what people are at university for, just to get smashed every night of the week (which is perfectly acceptable) or to complain about every single thing they disagree with, whether it's right or wrong. The behaviour of some students is quite frankly appalling. I'm hoping it will blow over by Monday but we've organised a meeting to discuss the situation for Monday night.

Tonight, I'm going to turn my phone off, ignore the facebook groups and just relax. Catch up on all the tv I haven't had time to watch, maybe watch some 24 :)

my day has gone pretty badly, we had a hot oil fire in our kitchen.. ( yea I know it also happened on Casualty) the damage in our kitchen is miniumal but the fumes from the burnt plastic is what got me and Kim pretty sick and coughing ...I just finished scrubbing down the cabinets ( every thing that is plastic underneath is blackish brown) waiting for Kim to bring me his dads ladder so I can get to the walls behind the cabinet ( flash fire behind them )
http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/7109/fireinthekitchen1121200.th.jpg (http://img4.imageshack.us/i/fireinthekitchen1121200.jpg/)
We are Ok.. just P.O.'ed that it happened, but also very relieved the damage was small and Kim can replace every thing himself without involving an insurance claim..( we are insured to the teeth)

Oh my, that's awful  At least the damage is cosmetic and neither you nor Kim have any injuries.

The rain is starting again here. Had it all day yesterday. It's not too bad, I don't mind the rain. Almost finished my assignment so that's one thing off my mind :)

Glad you are ok.,Jody. Sorry for messy post but I think I am going to pass out soon with tiredness. Had a fantastic few days in Spain with friends and family, celebrating OH's birthday. Weather there blooming great. Travel back today nightmare once we left airport. 4 traffic jams because of accidents, it has not stopped puring down. Even a fair bit of thunder recently. Soooo tired, will go to bed now. Omnibus editions of Emmerdale and Corrie and EastEnders and of course, I can read on here what I have missed :)

Glad you had a lovely time Perdita you deserved a break! :)

Kind of feeling mixed emotions today.
I'm quite annoyed because my radio for my car and my memory stick with all my College work on has gone missing from my handbag! I'm hoping I've misplace them with my own stupidity, but I have a bad feeling somoene has been in my bag :(

Happy too though, I had a good report tonight at Parent's evening, both my tutors said I have so much potential, but I need to have more faith and confidence in myself because I can do it, and also that my assignments are of a very good standard which I was shocked with! :)

Kind of feeling nostalgic with work. I miss it so much :( I miss the company, and the energy that I had and interacting with the customers, especially our locals :(... but I drove past there earlier, and the door was open and the light was on in the foyer!!! The banister has been changed from red to brown... so something is going on in there, and I really want to find out whats taking Mr.Jones' place... but I don't know how I'd go about it :/

CrazyLea
23-11-2009, 23:13
Oh gosh really Kirsty  I do hope it's your misplacement and not the latter .

I'm getting really depressed not having a job :( I'm so bored, and running out of money quickly! And Christmas is coming, and my birthday :crying:. I am going job hunting again tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Abigail
24-11-2009, 18:46
Why don't you take up some voluntary work whilst you look for a job? At least it will get you out of the house and doing something.

Tomorrow is going to be a fun day  Going through election nominations and manifestos, a vote of no confidence and I'm also being interviewed on legal highs.

Right now, I'm going to have a long hot shower and just relax.

We have been having elections all week.

Hope you find your stuff Kirsty, thats really annoying. I found that over the summer Lea, no job sucks, and i hate being skint, and all i have to occupy myself are assignments which i just dont understand.

Trinity
25-11-2009, 14:34
Thanks Perdy, I will be off from 24 December until 4th January inclusive and we are going away for a few days as a family to relax after new year. I can't wait really.

I am usually hyper organised but I haven't bought any presents, cards, planned menus or anything and I am dreading Christmas. One good thing is that Christmas day itself will be at my brothers house this year (we alternate) so I don't have to worry about dinner that day.

I found out yesterday that i didn't get my promotion. I had been put forward my whole management group of our school, but HR have to analyse your post using HERA and they said that I am only working extremely well in grade and do not merit a promotion.

The daft thing is that I am actually paid on the grade above already due to performance ratings.

It is a shame really, my bosses were trying to do something nice for me, which I didn't really expect and now I am fed up.

Perdita
25-11-2009, 14:50
Aww, so sorry about that, you must be gutted. But try to look at it as perhaps a blessing in disguise. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason and maybe you can't see the reason straight away but in a couple of months time you might just be glad because something else (and perhaps better) comes up. It is still a disappointment though right now.

I am so confused!! Had a phone call off my friend that I used to work with who now works underneath the restaurant in Frankie and Bennys, she asked her manager who had bought Mr.Jones, turns out... it's the same owners! Something about, they're on a contract? So can't close yet anyways... but they've apparently finally listened and are refurbishing everything properly so that it's all proper. I didn;t know what to think though, as none of us have even heard from our regional manger who promised us our jobs back should they ever re-open. Then speaking to someone else I worked with earlier, she said she saw our regional manager coming from the restaurant yesterday.. so I am completely confused.

Cat is back from London tonight for her brothers engagement on the weekend so we're going out for a drive soon :)

My boiler went on the blink on Tuesday I had no hot water. The engineer came out on Wednesday said the job would take at least two hours so I had to take Thursday off work. The engineer was there from 10.30 to 3pm and it still wasn't fixed then he had to turn off my heating so I was without hot water and heat. Went to stay at sisters for the night. Heating finally got fixed yesterday thank goodness as it's baltic up here. Went Christmas shopping spent a fortune. Got my three nieces some Christine Agruela perfume, slipper socks and mitten gloves and my nephews fleeces boxer shorts and socks.

Had a busy few days, Cat came home as it was her brothers engagment party so I've not been online much.
I've had the best few days :) thursday was pub quiz :) bless, we didn't quite make it to do the actual quiz but we had good banter with the bar staff and the quiz man haha.
Friday was the engagement party, it was sooo fun. Stayed at Cats and we ended up eating salad as drunken food haha and then watched Peter Pan.
Yesterday we went to Spoons for breakfast and dossed about at town for a while, went to see the work buddies in dominos and spent an hour just chatting in there haha, then I watched my sister for my Mum and Dad to go to town.. and they came back with my laptop! I am soo happy with it, really wasn't expecting it.

Last night was good, went to Newport with my friends and just forgot about everything and had fun :)

Today I have to get my head down and do my College assignments.. that is of course, when I figure out how to get Microsoft Office... fun fun.

The past few weeks have been chaos, amount of college work. Went out last saturday with mates from college and had such a laugh. My mate's trying to set me up with someone so we'll see how that goes. Went over to edinburgh yesterday and loved it, despite the weather. Had an amazing day and have ideas for christmas/birthday pressies for the family. Now i don't know what to get my mates :S!

Had a doctors appointment on tuesday and she's given me a number for bereavement counclling and a depression questionaire and if i feel worse in a couple of weeks time i'm to take it in. Saw Sandra Archibald from the college and told her about my anxiety and what not and i'm speaking to her again a week on Friday.

Things are really hectic at the moment. We have elections coming up next week so I've spent the afternoon taking calls on ballot papers, candidate questions and loads of other really interesting things.

Didn't get my assignment written. Printing off some journals to make it easier to read. Most of my lectures are cancelled this week :cheer: so I've got plenty of time to do the work. Not that I've been to lectures for a while :ninja:

I heard some sad news today. One of Marley teachers she had a couple of years ago has died of Cancer in the early hours of the morning. We knew he was ill and has been in a hospice for the last few weeks but it was still a shock. The kids were told at assembly this morning and they have been upset for most of the day. Marley was still upset on the way home as she adored Mr Fyfe.

Had a good night out tonight. When we got back tonight my flatmate told me tonight he's fancied me for a couple of months...basically asked me out and asked me what I thought about it. I felt so mean to have to tell him I don't fancy him back. I hope this doesn't create an awkward situation. I was going to move in with him and another flatmate next year but I'm not sure about that now. Right now I just want to be at home. :(

Yeah, I hope so. He was, but I don't think he was that drunk...I'm not sure....I hope he forgets some of what he said. I haven't seen him yet today so I don't know...he said last night when I said no he was fine with it and he'd rather I said that than string him along so I hope it won't be too awkward.

Oh well...least its the holidays soon and I'm trying to write up my notes into revisable form because I need them to take on holiday with me, so I'll be keeping myself fairly busy. I go home on Wednesday for 4 days and then I'm only back for 2 days (damn practial lesson!) so even if things are awkward it should be alright.

I've got another two weeks to go until I finish. Going to have a busy time writing two assignments for the 14th. They're not particularly long but there's a lot of research.

Christmas is going to be a quiet affair this year with just my parents and me. I think that's how I'd prefer it. More left overs to freeze and bring back to uni :D I can't wait to have three weeks at home.

I've had quite a fun day. Had a couple of meetings which went well. In between those I went to the pub and got drunk so it's probably a good job we weren't quorate at council! Apparently I was opinionated but not to a conspicuous, obviously-drunk degree. I was pretty sober by the end of it.

By-elections open tomorrow so I'm prepared for at least five complaints a day from one person. He thinks it's his right to bombard Steerings with complaints and stupid questions. He even said to someone, "I have to go write a complaint to Steerings now. Haven't decided what I'm going to complain about yet but I haven't sent them any emails this morning." On the one hand it's slightly amusing that he has nothing better to fill his days with but it's still bloody annoying when I turn up to a meeting and get handed a dozen complaints.

Just doing my washing now then a long hot shower and bed :D

Just discovered that my heater has broken again. Grr

Congratulations on your son :D.

These past few days have been hell :(. I've fallen out with my best friend actually don't want anything to do with her cause i feel like she's been destroying me with her lies and whatnot. Last night i got tipsy (something i really shouldn't of done!) & phoned her and thought maybe we could sort this out but she wouldn't come see me, she never came to see me at Asda today during our lunch break either using some crummy excuse and then saying how i have a personality change apparently i'm a "Bad" Tanya :S but i was so angry in the car and i just feel like crap generally :(. I'm scared i'm actually becoming depressed cause i feel like i'm falling into a black hole and i just can't get myself back out and i don't want to feel like this :crying: :(

If your friend can't be bothered to come and see you to talk and sort out any problems she has with you, then she is not a true friend and you are better of without her. Please don't take any notice of her lies, as difficult as this might be. You know the truth and that is what matters.

Parents Evening - what a waste of time. No 1 son already has three unconditional uni offers and doesn't care much this year.

Well done to No 1 son, congratulations on those offers :cheer:

its me!!! thers no other explanation really, i had it in my hand when i was cleaning the table in uni and by the time i got to the library i was like, ooh wheres my phone! and thats when it clicked so i had to walk back and try and discreetly look through the bin discreetly which is pretty impossibly to do.

I love election week :D There's always something happening. Who knows, I might actually get some work done in the de facto Steerings office this week.

Had a really good lab session today. Correctly identified some skulls and the type of damage that they experienced before their death (blunt force trauma, small calibre gun shot wound and large calibre wound). It's one of the reasons why I love my course when I go to well planned, interesting lab sessions.

So I'm exhausted but in a good mood. Realised on my way home that I haven't eaten today so tea is in the oven.

Abigail your course sounds so interesting! I've always wanted to do something like forensics, but I'm too emotional.

Actually really proud of myself today, I did so many notes in College and actually understood everything that was said which has got me in the mood to do as many of my assignments as possible so I can actually relax over Christmas. The only thing letting College down at the moment is a girl in my class. We have the same name, and live in the same town haha, we sit next to each other.. but she is really starting to grate on me. I think the most part of me is just jealous of her because she has a car, and "the better Kirsty" haha.

It just gets me down because she is constantly putting me and my work down, always looking over my shoulder and telling me I'm doing something wrong. It annoys me even more when. after telling me I'm wrong, she then asks for help constantly about her own work. I also give her a lift home from College (25 minute drive) everyday, apart from when she has work, she also gets a lift to College most days too. However the other day her Dad drove her to College, and she didn't even offer a lift. I don't want to sound selfish or spoilt, but to me that's quite unfair. It's really making me unhappy.

Try to sit away from her in class and stop giving the ungrateful cow a lift. You say she has got a car, so why are you being her taxi? You are not being selfish, she is because I believe she is using you. You should not feel down and unhappy, you need to concentrate on your education without distractions.

Oh whoops, she's learning to drive, but every opportunity she gets she drives her car to College (with her Dad in the front of course) she just has to be perfect at everything! It's difficutl to sit away from her in class as everyone has sort of got themselves into a seating plan, but I enojyed today so much because one of the girls that sits with us wasn't in so I ad my feet up on her chair and she sat another seat away. It felt nice to be able to make my own notes without feeling bad or worrying I was doing it all wrong. She even goes as far as to make snide remarks if I am late to pick her up or something and mkes me the laughing stock, at the end of the day, my Granch doesn't even have to take me to College, so he most definately doesn't have to go out of his way for her so what right does she have to say anything about whether I ma late or my Granch drives to the limit sometimes... if she doesn't like it she can get a bus, that's waht she has a bus pass for... argh I'm sorry I am just so wound up by it all.

Well, I definitely would limit the time I would spend with her, stop giving her lifts if she can use the bus. Can you start sitting away from her after Christmas or is the seating plan permanent? Sounds to me that she is not a friend if she is always slagging you or your Granch off when you are both doing her a favour  You are right to feel wound up by it all but you can put an end to it by no longer being her personal slave. If she is slagging you off now, she can't do any worse by you refusing to run around after her. :)

Yeah that's true, I have cut down on giving her lifts. She even asked for one this morning, it;s getting beyond now, it has to stop. I do try to not get so involved with her at College, but most of our class sticks together at breaks as we all go and play pool. She's definately turning sour though.
Thanks for the advice :) I own't let her distract me from my studies just to help her anymore, and I am going to rise above her :)

Is she giving you money for fuel? Even if you're only going round the corner to pick her up and drop off, she should still give you something towards the cost of the fuel.

I'd seriously draw the line if she's making snide remarks at your Granch. I'm sure he has far better things to be doing in a morning than picking her up. Next time she asks, tell her to get the bus. You're not a free taxi service and she shouldn't be treating you like one.

No, nothing. She does text me in the morning to see if I'm "getting the bus" when she knows full well that I'm having a lift... I've just stopped texting her back, as childish as that sounds. I thought I'd have got rid of all the childish people holding me back when I went to College, but no.. there's always one!
