The worst part of this episode, was how they teased us into thinking that it was all going to be over, and that Stephen was off to jail. For a moment I thought we were going to be subjected to that old Soap trope. where he opened the box and the body was gone. Thank goodness we were spared that.

The worst part was where the roof box went into the Canal and not Stephen

My understanding is that canals are not very deep, they were build for barges and narrow boats which only have a maxmum draught of about six feet. You can stand up and walk across some canals without getting your hair wet. The top box is a light silver colour so anyone on the bank should be able to see it. Surely someone would try to drag it out. Not a very good way to dispose of a body.
