I think he got suspiciouswhen he saw Aaron arguing with Chas and leaving early and when he then found the phone he knew what it was all about. Did Cain and Al agree to meet in the ban by text messages? Or did Cain see this from an old message to Chas?

Cain was seen sending a text on the burner phone. Al jumped in his car, ignored Kerry, and went to the barn. So he obviously got the text from Cain, thinking it was Chas.

Aaron is taking the easy way out, he thinks Paddy should know, but does not want to be the one to tell him. Or he does not have the courage to tell him. Perhaps he is hoping that Chas will finish with Al and Paddy will never know, altho' I think this would be wishful thinking on his part.
