    She does seem to be going on about 'deaf culture' and I really don't get where if someone has a condition that is curable that they wouldn't want it.

    I've had a fair amount of health issues, some for 40 years, and if I had had the chance to get a cure, I'd have jumped at it.

    She'll be 18 next year, which presumably is the year she's applying for. 18 is the normal age to go to University.

    There ia an idea amonst some that if you have a certain condition or follow a certain lifestyle that you should belong to a "community". I remember many years ago discussing this with a gay couple I knew who insisted they did not want to belong to the "Gay Community" altho' they were openly gay they felt no need to belong to a community, as they did not want to be dictated to, as to how to think and behave. They did not go to gay pubs or clubs. They said they led a normal boring suburban life, going to work 5 days a week, the supermarket on Saturday, a walk in the country on Sunday, and were quite happy to be considered a part of the "suburban community". Freda I think considers deaf people should belong to the "deaf community" and should adopt the community's values, to the extent that she is a bit intolerant of others who do not think this way.

    Yes, deaf community is a bit of a bully if you do not agree with all their principles.

    Yes, Norris had a stroke before passing.
