Are we meant to feel sympathy for Liv? I am finding it very difficult to do so, she tried to lift the beam from Paul but could not so has nothing to feel guilty for. Vinny is not helping as he seems to be blaming her saying she did nothing to help save him, when I thought she told him she tried. Finding this a bit confusing. They always seem to overdo stories about people with drink problems, at one time Liv seemed to have about three bottles of vodka on the go at once. A young person like her would surely be dead from alcoholic poisoning if they drank that much.

Mack has convinced him that, even though he only arrived in England recently, he knows dozens of people in English prisons who will do his bidding

I have never taken to Mack as a character, to me he lacks any credibility, he turned up with Cain in the boot of his car, though I cannot remember why. Not only does he claim to know people in prison he seemed to have all these criminal contacts in an area where he is a stranger. I think we are meant to like him as a sort of cheeky chappie bad boy, in the mode of Alfie Moon. But I do not, I find him arrogant, with a very high opinion of himself. His voice is very off-putting, and I don't mean his accent, as I am Scottish myself, but the way he speaks in that flat sort of emotionless way. Aaron should tell the truth, and hopefully he would be banged up and we would see the last of him, at least for a while.
Other may well like him, find him loveable, and the best thing since sliced bread.

Although I agree with everything you have said, the time to have told the truth was immdiately he found the broach. It's now a case of his word against the real thief
