Well you could say that - but what he has actually done is to lie and dob Kelly in it.

So, let's assume we are the Weatherfield police and have the evidence so far....First of all Corey lied about where he was and provided a false alibi, which the police now know to be false only because Asha wouldn't back him up. Kelly has given eye-witness evidence that it was Corey who murdered Seb. Two others who were with Corey and Kelly at the time of the assault admit to being part of it. Nina recalls, admittedly somewhat vaguely, that Corey was there and, in fact, was responsible. Corey is a big football playing lad, whereas Kelly is just a slip of a girl, but apparently Corey was unable to pull her off Seb.

It's obvious - Corey is not guilty.
