That was a very dark and totally unnecessary exit for the character of Kush who could have returned later as he has ties there with Arthur who must be traumatized coming back from the toilet to his father dead on the train track
As said in another post by another poster Arthur could have pee'd where he was as no one was around and he is a young child but conveniently for the story him and Whitney had to be missing
