Coronation Street's Tim Metcalfe continues to adjust to having his mum Elaine Jones back in his life over Christmas, as Elaine surprises him with a gift.

Tim (Joe Duttine) and Elaine (Paula Wilcox) have only recently come back into each other's lives as a result of Yasmeen Metcalfe's (Shelley King) recent trial, with Elaine acting as a witness for the defence.

Tim hadn't seen his mum for many years due to abusive dad Geoff Metcalfe's (Ian Bartholomew) toxic behaviour and he has recently been trying to make up for lost time with his mum.

In a kind gesture, Elaine gives her son a collection of his childhood toys, which she had held onto for all of these years as a reminder of him.

However, Tim ends up confiding in his wife Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) that he doesn't actually want to be reminded of a childhood that never really existed, thanks to Geoff's manipulation.

Tim reveals to Elaine that he is thinking of stashing the toys in the attic and Elaine hides her disappointment, assuring Tim that what he does with the toys is his decision.

Evelyn Plummer (Dame Maureen Lipman) offers to sell the whole collection at a jumble sale, but when Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) discovers that one toy car in the haul is worth ?2,000 alone, the race is on to discover who bought the precious item!

Tim solves the mystery when he finds out that Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) bought the toys and he manages to buy the whole lot back from her for just ?30.

Elaine is pleased to see that Tim has recovered his toys and suggests that he sell the valuable vintage car and donate the proceeds to the charity that has been set up for little Oliver Battersby, who sadly passed away in November.

Will Tim agree with Elaine's idea?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, December 30 at 7.30pm and Thursday, December 31 at 8.30pm on ITV.
