amy returning with new head, recast
Emmerdale is welcoming back Amy Wyatt for the first time since the character's exit in 2013 – but Chelsea Halfpenny isn't reprising the role.
Amy has been recast and will now be played by newcomer Natalie Ann Jamieson.
"I'm incredibly excited to meet all of the talented cast and crew at ITV's Emmerdale," Natalie told The Sun. "I feel very lucky to be joining the cast of such a loved and respected show.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity, and can't wait to find out what the future holds for Amy!"
Halfpenny played Amy between 2010 and 2013. Amy's original exit storyline saw the character regretting putting Kyle up for adoption. She kidnapped her son, but is persuaded by Kyle's father Cain to return him.
Amy, however, flees to Ireland to avoid being caught by the police.
Earlier this month and speaking to Digital Spy, Halfpenny ruled out a return to Emmerdale.
"I'm definitely not [returning]," she said, after bowing out of her role as Alicia Munroe in Casualty. "There would be no point in leaving one long-running show to go back to the one you were in before.
"There are other things in my career that I'd like to do. For now, it's a 'no'."

Why are they bringing old characters back? Boring as, surely they have enough money to bring in new characters with new exciting stories?
So this new Amy comes back and takes back Kyle? Hopefully they both leave, and take Kerry, Daz and Dan with them.
