When you look at the map there is plenty of space to build an approaches road without knocking any houses down, saving the cost of a compulsory purchase order. It's not as if The Dingles and Eric are living in the middle of a housing estate. - More contrived drama!

So Morris would influence the planning committee or something along those lines to demolish the Dingle's house to make way for an access road or something rather than his house.

Can the developers really force Eric or Zak from their homes?

Yes they can. But Zac can appeal against it, this means there would have to be a public enquiry, which could take more than 18 months. It has to be proved that the project is for the 'greater public good'. I am not sure a golf course would be considered as such. I am puzzled as to why they seemed to already be starting work when Zac and family went to the site with Eric on Tuesday. If the CPO is not granted for the access road they could have a golf course no one can get to. As I already said there seems to be a lot of open country side where they could have built the road without knocking any houses down.

there was rumors 3 months back because someone's friend who went to the Emmerdale Village Tour told a tumblr site via an anon post that their said friend was told by an Emmerdale Tour Guide that they were getting rid of the scrapyard and that the Dingles home was being extended to make way for the golf course. then this same person said they were mistaken in what they had heard and that the scrapyard was staying but judging by the fact that the scrap was empty of any car parts / old scrapped cars etc in the episode on Tuesday and it was just the Portacabin and the Blue Van left I'm guessing the scrapyard is getting moved to either Home Farm when Tom buy's it or it will be moved to the gravel car park where the Dingles garage is now
