I am sure I am in the minority here but why should anyone lose their job because of their political views. I have many good friends on here whom I know are politically miles apart from me. I post my politics on other forums and I am not ashamed of my politics.I may disagree with you but will defend your RIGHT to air your views. Sad that because his views are so against the mainstream that a man should lose his job. He is entitled to his opinion.

It wasn't just politics was it though? They were completely uncalled-for racist comments of a type we, as a Society, should not tolerate. Corrie just could not be seen to condone those sort of views, nor should they.

True but he made them in his own time. He didnt use the show or his position to make them. Everyone in the world has an opinion and should be allowed to make it whether or not you or I agree with it or not. Eveyone is a bigot to a greater or lesser degree. Some people are closet racists

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and to voice it but I think the way you do this is important .. no need for rude language to make your point and also the forum you voice your opinion needs to be chosen with care ....

Marc Anwar has reportedly been fired from Coronation Street after posting alleged "racially offensive" tweets about Indian people.
The Sunday Mirror said that the Pakistan-born actor made the comments on Twitter on Friday, and was dismissed after the newspaper told ITV bosses.
Anwar, 45, who has also appeared in films like 51st state and Captain Philips, will not return to his role as Sharif Nazir in the soap opera.
The paper published a screenshot of the alleged tweets from the actor's account - which is locked down and private - appearing to attack India over Kashmir and calling for Pakistani actors to stop working in the country.
The tweets also appear to refer to Indian people as "*******s" and "piss-drinking c****".
The paper quoted a statement from ITV as saying: "We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar.
"We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to Coronation Street with immediate effect."
He is 45 thought he was much older
Surely what someone says should not have any bearing on there employment unless they use their employers email addresses or mention their employer by name. If I post my opinion on twitter and it offends someone thats between me and them nothing to do with my employers. Its sounds Orwellian to sack someone because you do not agree with their political views. We have all came out with statements which may offend someone. None of us are perfect but its should not be a sacking offence to publish your views.

Precisely my point. I would not express my political or religious views on here. I know for a fact that one of my good friends on here has political and religious views at the opposite end of the spectrum to mine. I respect him for that just as i respect his views of soaps which he eloquently expresses on here.
