Wow this will be a good storyline for Michael coming up:

Emmerdale’s James Barton to be KILLED OFF in dramatic storyline

Bill Ward has been confirmed as the third actor to leave the soap in the last month

THEY say bad things come in threes, and sadly for Emmerdale fans that is true of the soap’s favourite characters.

I told last month how soap legend KELVIN FLETCHER, who played Andy Sugden for 20 years, had quit, and was then followed out the door by SOPHIE POWLES, who played Holly Barton

And now one of the show’s biggest names is joining them — BILL WARD.
Bill, who plays James Barton in Yorkshire-based soap, is being killed off in dramatic storylines to air later this year.

The actor is one of the show’s most recognisable faces, having spent four years on Coronation Street as Charlie Stubbs previous to joining as farmer James.

A source said: “It’s the third name in quick succession that is going out the exit door.

“Losing Andy Sugden, one of the show’s most popular characters ever, was a massive blow. Sophie, having only just come back after a long break, was a shame too.

“And now James is going. Emmerdale fans shouldn’t get too attached to their favourites as you never know who’s going to go next.

“Everyone has been teasing Bill on set about leaving the Dales as it’s now the second time he’s been knocked off an ITV soap. He’s starting to wonder if it’s something personal.

“The storyline is one of the channel’s big priorities for the year and they have been desperately trying to keep it under wraps.”

James’ soap life has been far from plain sailing.

In Emmerdale he has been involved in some big storylines since joining three years ago.

He had a relationship with Chas Dingle, played by LUCY PARGETER, and found out his nephew Adam, played by ADAM THOMAS, was actually his son.

In Corrie, he played builder Charlie, who dated SALLY LINDSAY’s character Shelley and Tracey Barlow, played by KATE FORD.

But just like in Emmerdale, he met his maker when Tracy hit him round the head with a heavy ornament, claiming it was self defence in domestic abuse.

For his troubles he was given the Best Exit award in he 2007 British Soap Awards.
From what I’ve heard, I reckon he could top it.

Lets hope Ross isn't the murderer, the obvious guess would be Emma though. Finally a challenging storyline for the Bartons, I hope they all smash it.

Yea the Bartons have been rather quiet so this will be good. Will Adam be involved too? You wouldn't know they were all brothers but maybe this could bring him closer to them. I hope Ross isn't a suspect. I would probably put money on Emma and Cain as the main suspects. Maybe Ross will be out for revenge so him and his brothers will work together to find out who is responsible. Would rather do that than see Ross being the one who does it. Also if Cain is arrested or whatever this could bring Debbie back and Ross is torn

I just hope this doesn't lead to the whole family being axed, IMO the 3 brothers should stay. Finn needs his own storyline, Pete needs to liven up and have more fun and I'm intrigued to see how Ross will react to his fathers death. He might feel guilty for all of those times he wound James up and the times he left home.

I remember seeing a spoiler ages ago saying that at some point Emma and Ross could turn against each other as she starts to see Moses as her new favourite. If Emma is going to kill James then maybe she will frame Ross to get him out the picture.

The new producer seemed to like them so hopefully he has plans beyond this. I hope Emma doesn't leave just yet. I know a lot of people don't like her but I actually think she is good. If she is the one to kill him then she probably wont have much longer either. It will be interesting to see what happens with the family business though? James is the only one along with Moira that seems to bother with the farm these days.

    Emma is capable of anything

WOW! I was wrong earlier. Michael Parr won't be leaving the show for a bit beforehand. He's going over to Everest a day after filming. Then will be straight back to set when he's finished. Props to the guy!!

Emmerdale stars support Mike Parr at charity night as he prepares for Everest challenge
Gemma Atkinson, Michelle Hardwick, Joe Gill and Anthony Quinlan support Emmerdale's Mike to raise funds for Steve Prescott Foundation

Emmerdale star Mike Parr was joined by a host of his soap star pals for a fundraising night in Manchester - as he prepares to tackle a gruelling charity challenge trekking up Mount Everest.

Mike, who plays Emmerdale’s Ross Barton, hosted a night of live entertainment with casino fun inside the Virgin Money Lounge on King Street.

And he was in glamorous company, with the soap’s Gemma Atkinson and Michelle Hardwick and his on screen brothers Anthony Quinlan and Joe Gill among guests lending their support.

The event was open to all, with guests simply asked to give a charitable donation of £10 to attend, and to dig deep for a raffle and auction on the night.

Mike is raising funds for the Steve Prescott Foundation, the charity set up by former St Helens and England rugby league star Steve after his diagnosis with a rare form of cancer in 2006.

He was given just months to live but he defied his diagnosis and, after setting up his charity foundation the following year, went on to organise and complete a series of charity initiatives, raising almost half a million pounds. He was awarded the MBE in 2009 but after a brave battle with the disease died in 2013 aged 39.

Family and friends have continued to fundraise in his memory and this year aim to smash the £1mn mark with Mike joining 40 others, including Steve’s wife Linzi and son Taylor, 14, on the epic trek 19,000 feet up the Earth’s highest mountain.

Mike admits training has been tough - and he’s bulking up his already muscular physique in a bid not to confuse Emmerdale fans when he returns to the show after a short break from filming while he undertakes his charity challenge.

He explains: “As it just so happens the date we leave for Everest was the end of my current contract at Emmerdale. So they’ve written me out for a little while, but I finish filming the day before we go to Everest, and then they want me back filming the day after I come back!

“I’m a bit worried about looking very different when I go back on screen - I’ve been told I could lose up to 10 per cent of my body mass on the trek, I’ll be skin and bones!”

Mike’s Emmerdale pals were full of admiration for their co-star for undertaking the challenge.

Bury beauty Gemma said: “When he first told me at work about it, I thought he was joking! But as time goes on, I could see how passionate he is about the charity, and this clearly means a lot to him.

“I’d like to be able to do something like this, but it’s really, really hard. You have to train and train and train so I really take my hat off to Mike for doing it.”

Michelle, who plays Emmerdale vet Vanessa, said: “Rather him than me, that’s all I’ll say! But we’re so happy to be here supporting him.”

Mike agreed to take part in the challenge after the charity sent a team up Kilimanjaro last year, and many of those have agreed to return again for the Everest challenge, including former rugby star Alan Hunte who attended the charity bash with his partner, BBC presenter Beccy Barr.

Mike said: “Everybody who grew up in St Helens between the age of 8 and 13, you'd go and watch rugby. When I played rugby with my friends I always wanted to be Steve Prescott, so it was a real honour when the foundation approached me to join the trek and to be able to help out.”

This year the charity aims to raise over £1mn for the foundation’s three beneficiaries - The Christie hospital, The Rugby League Benevolent Fund and a special causes fund where people can apply for money.
