Neighbours fans have been left in more pieces than the Lassiter Hotel after a dramatic week of episodes*has snatched Josh and Doug away from us. And we could be on the cusp of discovering who is responsible for the shocking blast which tore through the hotel.

While we saw a mysterious figure tampering with the boiler which eventually led to the killer explosion, their identity was kept under wraps. But has one of the show’s cast given away who will be unmasked as the person responsible?

Matt Wilson has revealed that his character Aaron Brennan, who was seen lurking suspiciously outside of the complex before the tragedy unfolded, will be a prime suspect. But was he truly the one behind the horror – or could it all be a red herring?

Speaking to BANG! Showbiz, Wilson said: ‘This gets dragged out for Aaron for a long time. So he’s got a guilty conscience about something. It’s so complicated and it’s probably the most complicated thing that I’ve done so far.

’Speaking of complicated, other matters of his life are giving him a headache too when his ex boyfriend Nate unexpectedly returns to*Erinsborough.

Wilson teased: ‘Nate is back in town unexplained, he didn’t say why he was coming back, so he’s got like a romance he has to sort out all while having emotions for other things.

’Complicated times indeed – it seems like we shouldn’t be tearing our eyes away from Ramsay Street for a second right now…

Do you think Aaron's to blame?

Has Aaron Brennan caused the Lassiter's explosion?

"He's definitely involved," says Matt Wilson

"There's a massive storyline that comes out of what Aaron was doing there and what he had on his mind," adds the actor

Neighbours star Matt Wilson has revealed that Aaron Brennan will be suspected of causing the Lassiter's explosion.

"Aaron is definitely involved," the actor tells RadioTimes.com.

"There's a massive storyline that comes out of what Aaron was doing there and what he had on his mind.

"In the run-up to the blast, Aaron was seen acting furtively in the vicinity of the hotel complex, but Wilson reckons that should his character turn out to be guilty, then it wouldn't have been a deliberately malicious act.

"It would be accidental. Aaron is such a nice soul and he wouldn't do anything to harm anyone. He's not the type of person to do anything like that deliberately," he adds.

This week's episodes of the Australian soap have seen the disaster claim the lives of long-standing Erinsborough residents Josh and Doug Willis. And Wilson admits that it was tough saying goodbye to actors Harley Bonner and Terence Donovan:

"It's been really upsetting. When we were first told that Josh going to die, Harley had tears in his eyes. And when they did the make-up, he really did look dead. It was heavy stuff. And Terence is absolute legend of a guy. He brightens up the green room. So, to have him gone is sad too.

"As for what lies ahead, he promises that there'll be more relationship complications for Aaron following the return of Nate, who arrives on the scene of the blast in his role as a volunteer rescue worker.

"We're on again, we're off again, we're on again," laughs the actor when discussing his on-screen love life. "Aaron loves Nate but he can't figure him out.

"And with Wilson coming up to his one-year anniversary on Neighbours, he also admits that he's experienced a massive change in his own life:*"Everything has changed.*Prior to this, I was working full-time on a building site as a carpenter. The calluses on my hand aren’t there anymore - I now have really soft, moisturised hands!

"But the part I like best about being on Neighbours is the impact that our presence can have on someone's day.*I try to say that in a modest way. Recently, we did a tour of a hospital in Perth - some of the kids had been there for a year, and just you being in that room talking to them makes their entire week. Maybe their year."So it’s almost a healing power. To have that is the biggest benefit that I’ve got out of being on the show."

Is Aaron Brennan a killer? Star Matt Wilson previews Neighbours (VIDEO)

Aaron Brennan believes he's murdered Tom Quill by knocking him down before Lassiter's exploded, burying Tom in the rubble, but Neighbours'*Matt Wilson*reveals support for Aaron comes from an unexpected source...His ex, Nate Kinski, has returned to Erinsborough and turned up at just the right moment.

Matt told What's on TV: "Tom Quill is not to be accounted for. The explosion's happened, he's nowhere to be seen. [Mum] Julie Quill's trying to find Tom and she's been interrogating Aaron, trying to get some info out of him. Aaron's been forced to lie and he's not the sort of person who like to lie...

"Meanwhile, Nate has said you need to keep yourself quiet, you need to not tell anyone, don't tell your brother, the police officer [Mark Brennan]. We can sort this out another way. It's a very confusing time.

"Matt's shocked by Nate's reappearance, but he isn't convinced he's exactly what Aaron needs right now. "I think Nate might be trying to make up for what he's done in the past. He feels a bit guilty about disappearing. He does feel bad, which is good. But it might not be the best advice for Aaron at the moment.

"Their relationship is a battlefield, according to Matt."

Nate and Aaron, since we first started, as you know, we're complete opposites. It's quite funny - he wants this and I want this. It actually makes for good scenes because we actually bounce off each other. Whenever we do a scene together we always want the complete opposite, which makes it quite interesting. And it's much the same now ... It's always a battle, a constant battle of them trying to find common ground.

Nate tries to help his troubled ex-boyfriend Aaron but the two are being watched - and plagued by sinister texts.
The last time Aaron saw Tom Quill, the man who romanced Aaron into corrupt behaviour, he was in the car park of Lassiters hotel before the explosion. After an argument, things got physical and Aaron defended himself by punching Tom and knocking him out.
Now Tom (Kane Felsinger) is missing, presumed dead and Aaron (Matt Wilson) is racked with guilt believing he is responsible for Tom’s death.
Though Aaron’s anxiety over Tom’s disappearance is preventing Aaron from reconnecting with Nate (Meyne Wyatt), Aaron is there to support his ex-army-officer boyfriend at the local Anzac Day service. Little do the pair know they are being watched by someone and things get more mysterious and for Aaron a little scary when he receives a text message from an unknow number saying “I know what you did Tom Quill”. Nate urges Aaron to stay calm and wait to see what move the texter makes next.
After another threatening message, Nate gets suspicious that Julie Quill (Gail Easdale) might be behind the disturbing messages after she confronts Aaron for information for the second time. To test his theory, Nate tries replying to the number but when Julie’s phone doesn’t light up he is back to square one.
With the texter now demanding cash to be left for them in the old well, Nate tries to comfort Aaron, leading to a kiss. Vulnerable, Aaron kiss Nate back and the pair continue locking lips, which forces them to work out where their relationship stands. Aaron explains how hurt he was by Nate’s abrupt departure from Erinsborough and Nate apologises. He admits he still has feelings for Aaron and would like to get their romance back on track if Aaron feels the same.
Their heart-to-heart is then interrupted by another text so Nate comes up with a plan to catch the person blackmailing them. When they finally unmask the culprit they will be shocked to the core. Who has been taunting Aaron all this time?
