Laurel’s life spiralled out of control while she battled the booze but she has been clean for months.

So when Ashley finds the stash he wants to make sure he has his facts right before he starts accusing her.

He confides in his dad Sandy and they have a look around for more hidden booze.

But the next day when Laurel starts acting strangely and says she needs to go out for headache tablets, Ashley is convinced she is drinking again.

When she returns he confronts her. But that doesn’t go down well.

Laurel is furious that he thinks she is secretly drinking and tells him in no uncertain terms he has got it completely wrong.

And she is adamant that she will go for her baby scan alone – further fuelling Ashley’s suspicions.

Later that day Ashley is devastated when he realises he was wrong to doubt Laurel and the booze actually belonged to his teenage daughter Gabby.

An insider said: “Gabby is skiving off from school at Mulberry with a group of friends and searches the house for booze.

“Sandy returns and demands to know what she’s up to and discovers the bottle belonged to her. He then has to tell Ashley he got it very wrong with Laurel.”

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Tuesday 16 February at 7pm on ITV.

Dominic Brunt [Paddy] gave a recent interview for Radio Times:

Love cheat Paddy Kirk is to end his illicit fling with Tess Harris next week, but might come to rue his actions when she threatens to expose their affair.

Speaking about the drama surrounding the break-up, actor Dominic Brunt says: "They have a big row and Tess smashes a glass against the wall. There's not anything in the storyline that says Tess is a bunny boiler - she's just upset and wants the relationship to carry on. But Paddy is rattled."

In the wake of the argument, Tess will be seen driving away before pulling over into a lay-by, where she sits crying uncontrollably. In the end, Tess decides to call Rhona on her mobile and asks to meet with her, much to Paddy's horror. So is the truth about to finally come out?

"Paddy is definitely panicking that it will. He's starting to think that it's only a matter of time before Tess says something and his marriage is over. He certainly doesn't want that. It's not what he signed up for when he started the affair."

Scenes set to air on Thursday 11 February see Paddy trying to dissuade Rhona from going to see Tess, explaining that she tried it on with Marlon and questioning whether Rhona wants to get involved in such messy relationship angst.

But it's surely only a matter of time before details of Paddy's affair are finally exposed - so does Brunt think his character will end up being forgiven should the truth come out? "Paddy knows that what he's done is ridiculous. He has a family and a child. And now Tess has become emotionally attached, which is something he didn't bargain for.

"I reckon he believes that if he pours his heart out to Rhona, she'll say, 'I didn't realise you were going through all this, so let me help you'. He's so daft he probably thinks she'd help him through all this!"

Ashley's heart sinks as he discovers a plastic bottle under the sofa, which is half full of alcohol.

Ashley looks for more hidden booze as he confides in Sandy that he's worried Laurel has started drinking again.

Meanwhile, Zak feels out of the loop over what's been going on with his family when he returns from his trip with Joanie. Kerry updates him on what she knows about Aaron, so he heads off determined to find the truth and confronts Belle and Sam in the shop. He's devastated when Belle tells him that Aaron was abused, accusing him of not looking after him. Joanie returns to find Zak in despair, but he can't tell her what's happened because it's a family matter.

Elsewhere, when David arrives back in the village, it's suggested that Leyla should stay put.

Laurel goes to the shop for headache tablets, leaving Ashley more suspicious. He decides to confront her, but she's angry and denies returning to her old ways. She's also adamant that she's now going to the baby scan on her own.

Later, Ashley is furious when he discovers that it was actually Gabby's booze he found, not Laurel's. He's devastated to have thought the worst of Laurel.

Meanwhile, Zak tells Lisa that he wants to be there for his family and is hopeful when she promises to think about it. Zak is aware something is going on when Belle and Sam make plans to have a meeting. He decides to confront Lisa about the secret meeting, so heads over to Wishing Well. But will Zak end up rubbing salt into Lisa's wounds?

Elsewhere, Rishi and Megan begin to believe that Jai is on a bender.

Also today, Chas refuses to talk to Zak about Aaron, not wanting to be disloyal to Lisa.

Paddy's mind is not on the job as he's clearly distracted by everything that has gone on recently. Rhona is given reason to wonder what he's up to.

Meanwhile, Lisa surprises Zak by inviting him to attend her 60th party. Zak and Joanie get a frosty reception when they turn up at the pub, but Lisa insists she wants them to stay. However, Lisa has a plan which soon leaves Zak stunned.

Elsewhere, Nikhil gets a call about his job in Canada and admits his insecurities over Leyla. Leyla confesses to David that she still cares for Nikhil, but is it too late?

Also, Laurel hides some news from Doug, instead lying that she and Ashley are getting married again. Will this lie give Ashley food for thought?

Finally, Rakesh gets a very frosty reception from both Priya and Vanessa.

Rhona is suspicious about Paddy's behaviour and starts looking through his phone for clues on why he's been lying to her. Suddenly the penny drops for Rhona that Paddy was the man who Tess was having an affair with.

Well and truly caught out, Paddy tells a heartbroken Rhona that he's sorry, but she is devastated and rushes upstairs.

Meanwhile, Jacob and David are alarmed to discover that an excited Leyla and Nikhil are getting married. David can't hide his worry, while Jacob is also conflicted. Will the happy couple realise the lack of support from their closest? And how will the news go down with the rest of the family, especially Jai?

Elsewhere, Chas is overwhelmed as the police are getting no further with the investigation and can't find Sandra. Chas is thrown by Robert's insistence that he's there for Aaron. She's thoughtful when he tells her to keep fighting to put Gordon away.

Also today, Belle puts on a brave face as Lisa tells her about getting a divorce. Joanie also worries that the divorce has changed Zak's feelings towards her.

Paddy admits to Rhona that his affair was about more than just sex. She tells him that she'll never be able to forgive him, but as far as their adoption process is concerned, they are as strong as ever.

As the fallout continues, Paddy is devastated to realise the consequences of what he's done.

Meanwhile, everyone in the pub is stunned when Jai returns and reveals that he checked himself into rehab, but he knows he has a long way to go to win back his family's trust. Leyla is left shaken after she shares a highly-charged moment with Jai. Could Jai's return be a spanner in the works for Leyla and Nikhil?

Elsewhere, Zak tells Joanie about what happened to Aaron, but he also assures her that she's the only family he needs right now. At the same time, Belle is relieved when she sees her mum growing in strength every day following her split.

Also, Laurel is relieved to have Doug and Harriet's blessing following her decision to remarry Ashley, but how will Marlon take the news?

Finally Chas asks for Cain's help looking through Aaron's old school reports, wanting to look for anything that might help Aaron's case.

Leyla is irritated when she realises that Nikhil has booked her a flight to Canada, but she realises it's because he doesn't trust her with Jai. The tension is high between the two brothers and the two of them end up punching each other.

Leyla feels the pressure when David questions her feelings for Nikhil, asking if Leyla is still in love with Jai. Is she?

Meanwhile, Paddy tells Rhona that he is staying with Marlon for a few days, but she doesn't want him to as she doesn't want the outside world knowing anything about their problems for the sake of Leo and the adoption. Can Rhona really brush this under the carpet?

Elsewhere, Adam deletes photos of Johnny from his phone in order to get him out of his life.

Also today, Chas gets an idea when she overhears Adam telling Victoria how good Robert is with the business. Victoria wants to set up a street food van so they can travel in the summer. Robert is taken aback when Chas calls him for a very big favour.

[Perdita]

Emmerdale's Lisa Dingle has a shock in store for her estranged husband Zak next week as she celebrates her 60th birthday.

The couple have been apart ever since Zak's affair with Joanie was exposed over the festive season and Lisa will attempt to move forward with her life next week.

Having returned from his trip away with Joanie, Zak (Steve Halliwell​) will start to feel increasingly isolated by his family and pleads with Lisa to let him be there for them.

However, with her milestone birthday around the corner, Belle encourages her mum to think about herself for a change - but it's clear that Lisa (Jane Cox) has something else on her mind.

Following Belle's advice, Lisa presses forward with her party plans and surprises everyone by inviting both Zak and Joanie to celebrate with her.

Unsurprisingly, Zak and Joanie are greeted with a frosty reception when they do eventually arrive at the party, but a dressed up Lisa insists that she wants them to stay.

Lisa's reasons for having them there soon become clear when her plans are later revealed. Lisa's bombshell leaves Zak stunned, but what is it?

The usual spoilers for week 8-12 Feb don't include various details for 11-12 Feb though.

Be warned that what follows as my spoilers speculative interpretation may very well be a huge surprise and a shock to everyone reading this.

Radio Times says that Pierce Harris [Tess's husband, played by Jonathan Wrather] is in the cast list for week 8-12 Feb and week 15-19 Feb. Tess is only in the cast list for week 8-12 Feb, not the week after.

A recent press conference (where new actor Jonathan Wrather is said to have been present at) described how a new "villainous new character" was going to be introduced into Emmerdale. I'm guessing that this is Pierce and that he will cause trouble later in Emmerdale. I expect Pierce to show up on Fri 12 Feb if not the day before.

Spoilers say that Rhona doesn't realise until Thur 18 Feb that Paddy is the man who Tess was having an affair with. TV Choice has two separate spoilers for 18 Feb.
