Most ridiculous storyline in a soap this year ... The aftermath of the Lucy Beale murder following the Bobby reveal.

It's interesting that so far that all the entries for most ridiculous storyline have come from Eastenders and yet it's the Coronation Street producer who's getting the boot!
The reason the producer is getting the boot
may be more connected to money.
If ITV get a lot of complaints about storylines
they may be concerned about falling ratimgs
and loss of advertising revenue. And do
something.
Whereas the BBC cushioned by the licence fee
to.some extent is prepared to ride out any
minor storms.
Also most people I know either watch Corrie or
EE or if both have a very definite favourite.
A minority wouldnt watch the other programme
if paid to do so!
The EE viewers do seem to have higher
/ different expectations
and are therefore more critical when things
dont suit. Corrie viewers just shrug and mainly
ignore "daft stories" and do something
else.
Its a bit different on a forum because most will
watch more soaps than the average viewer!
And this is a generally tolerant one!

DTC was given "golden handcuffs" by the BBC after live week, which means he isn't on a time-limited contract and can stay as long as he wants (the first time this has been done on EE). To be fair, I thought it was well deserved after the enormous success of the 30th anniversary, but maybe it went to his head and he now thinks he can do no wrong?
Presumably he can still be fired if necessary, but I think that's unlikely to happen. There's still some good things about EE at the moment in my opinion and I haven't been driven to stop watching (as I did about three years ago). Saying that, I'll also be voting for half of Albert Square covering for Bobby as the most ridiculous storyline of the year...
At least he appears to have listened to the complaints about Dean being portrayed as some kind of tragic anti-hero...![]()

I agree, Dazzle. I think DTC did a good job up to and including the live episode, but it all seems to have gone to pot since then with some seriously ridiculous stories. There have been a few good bits still, like Les's cross dressing, but they are now few and far between I'm afraid.
