Meanwhile, Robert Sugden's life will rest in Cain Dingle's hands on Emmerdale as he threatens to cut the villain's oxygen tube.

Cain (Jeff Hordley) comes up with the shocking plan of action after his nephew Aaron Livesy has been arrested for Robert's recent shooting.

Determined to save Aaron from a long prison sentence by shifting suspicion elsewhere, Cain recruits Adam Barton to help him kill Robert and ensure that Chrissie takes the fall for it.

Adam is shocked by the scheme and shares his concerns with Cain's father Zak, but a determined Cain prepares to go ahead with his plan as he hides himself from the hospital CCTV with a large teddy.

After Cain distracts a nurse, he snatches a cordless phone from reception and lures Chrissie into his trap by making a bogus call 'from the hospital' and getting her to come in.

However, as Cain prepares to cut Robert's oxygen tube, he is stopped in his tracks when Zak arrives suddenly and interrupts him. Can Zak talk him out of it, or will Cain's determination to save his family spell the end for Robert?

    Unhappy

I do wish Emmerdale would tone down the murder plots it's been too much lately with, Pete/Ross, the shooting of Robert & the Robert/Paddy grain pit stuff from just before the crash & Cain kidnapping both Ross & Robert with bad intentions now this!

Chas is convinced that Robert's shooter is still out there and is now targeting her. Cain visits Aaron at the remand centre and is shocked to see that he's a broken man. He's left seriously worried when Aaron alludes to killing himself.

Later at The Woolpack, Diane suggests that Chas smashed up the bar herself as a smokescreen for Aaron. Cain arrives shortly afterwards and Chas starts to break down when she hears that Aaron has been charged. Cain feels the pressure to save his family, but how?

Meanwhile, Lawrence invites Bernice for a coffee - explaining that if she doesn't come, he will know it's over between them. Kerry stirs things by comparing Lawrence to Andy, giving Bernice food for thought. Later on, Lawrence sits alone in the café and is devastated when he realises that Bernice isn't coming. At the same time, Bernice visits Andy at work and asks him if he could ever love her back. What will Andy say?

Elsewhere, Finn notices a bandage on Emma's hand and jumps to conclusions over what is going on at The Woolpack. Emma is taken aback when he accuses her, knowing how she feels about Chas and that she has lied before.

Also today, Diane is scared as the hospital is going to try to bring Robert out of his coma.

Eric tells Cain about seeing Chrissie with a gun on the night of the shooting and how he would stick to this story if the police's attention was diverted back to her. Cain comes up with a plan and sneaks into Home Farm during Bernice's engagement party and heads upstairs whilst wearing gloves.

Cain then crashes the party and begins to go through his list of suspects in front of all the guests. Chrissie reddens, but does she have something to hide? Later, Cain arrives at the scrapyard and asks Adam to help him kill Robert and make sure Chrissie takes the fall for it...

Meanwhile, Bernice tells a gobsmacked Diane and Victoria that she is getting married to Lawrence. Doug advises Diane not to push her daughter away and she can see that he is right. However, when Cain crashes the party and Chrissie lets rip with an outburst, Diane tells Bernice that she doesn't want anything to do with the Whites.

Elsewhere, Harriet fetches Ashley to help with Sandy, who is stuck in the Woolpack toilet. It transpires he has been in there for over half an hour but was too stubborn to ask for help.

Also today, Emma tries to convince Finn that she is innocent of trashing The Woolpack, but will he be convinced?

Meanwhile, Harriet suggests that Ashley should ask Sandy to move in with them, but he is nervous about trying to convince his father this would be the best place for him. Sandy's pride takes over and Edna scolds him for being obstinate. Sandy tells Ashley he only has his pride left and soon puts Ashley in an upsetting predicament when he makes a big request.

Elsewhere, Rhona suggests some time alone with Paddy, but he says he has to check up on Chas. He heads to The Woolpack where he stays drinking for most of the day. When Rhona comes to collect Paddy, he apologises for what he's done to her and Chas. They assume it's just the drink talking, but behind the drunkenness there is a deeper guilt.

Also today, Bernice finds out that life with the Whites isn't the picnic she was expecting it to be.

Airs Thursday, Oct 22 2015 at 19:00 BST on ITV

Diane and Victoria are floored when the police arrive at the hospital and it's suggested they might have arrested the wrong person.

At the same time, Aaron sits alone in his cell wishing he'd never laid eyes on Robert Sugden.

Meanwhile, Ross returns to the village and is annoyed that Andy seems to be on friendly terms with Pete.

Elsewhere, Harriet is unaware of what Sandy requested of his son and is taken aback by Ashley's vehemence when he calls his father a selfish old git. Harriet is shocked to hear what Sandy has asked of Ashley, but she convinces Ashley to have another word with him.

Also, Paddy receives a phone call and his face falls when he recognises the caller's voice. He tells them not to ring again.

Finally, Bernice is flustered when Lachlan jokes that she is allowed to stay overnight and adds that it'd be better for everyone if Robert was dead.

Robert is worried that Aaron wasn't the shooter and wants the police to guard his door. He suggests that Chrissie framed Aaron and she enjoys the look of fear in his eye as she toys with him.

However, Robert isn't the only one with a price on his head as someone is plotting a thousand painful deaths for another resident...

    Robert is finally awake again

Meanwhile, a drunken Chas ends up stumbling near James and Emma but is left furious when Emma makes a comment about Aaron. Emma watches with thinly veiled contempt, when James helps a drunken Chas upstairs. Is she right to be jealous?

Elsewhere, Rhona encourages Marlon to ring Chloe and this puts Paddy on high alert. Paddy secretly changes her contact details on Marlon's phone.

Also today, Ashley is concerned when he receives an appointment with the specialist at the memory clinic and tells Harriet that it's just an epilepsy check-up.

Finally, Diane is shocked to learn that Bernice is moving in with Lawrence, while Cain warns Adam not to tell anyone how he tried to kill Robert.

Emmerdale spoilers: 10 things to expect from the flashback episode as Robert Sugden’s shooter is revealed

    Duncan Lindsay for Metro.co.uk
    Monday 12 Oct 2015 11:59 pm

The time is almost here – viewers are about to finally learn who pulled the trigger and shot Robert Sugden.

In a special flashback episode, fans will be taken back in time two hours before the attack took place and will get an insight into the scenes we didn’t see in the build up to the shooting.

With the episode also set to reveal new twists in two other storylines too, there is plenty for viewers to enjoy as Emmerdale takes us all on a unique and exciting journey.

We have seen the episode and won’t be giving anything away to ruin the suspense or the surprise.

However, here are ten things you can expect when you sit down to watch Emmerdale: Rewind on Thursday 22nd October.

    1. There will be unexpected twists

The main focus on the episode is painting a picture of the lead up to Robert’s shooting – and viewers can expect to be treated to an exciting pay off on the story they have invested in. As the episode unfolds, not everything is instantly as it seems…

    2. Two secrets will be revealed…

Aside from the shooting storyline itself, two other storylines will play out in the episode that viewers have been less aware of. Clues have been planted and a lot will make sense when the new twists reveal themselves for characters not previously involved in the centre of this drama.

    3. We will see each of the suspects in new scenes

    (Picture: ITV/Metro)

Where was everyone around the time of the shooting and what were they up to? The jigsaw pieces start to fall into place – and new revelations may well come to light about the characters we have all been suspecting…

    4. Things that didn’t make sense before now will

Furtive glances, questions asked, suspicious behaviour – there is a lot still to be answered but the gaps will be filled as we realise the reason for certain lines, events and movements in the wake of the shooting.

    5. We will see Robert shot again

Sorry Robert fans, but you will have to relive that moment once more of seeing his chest pierced by a vengeful bullet. Only this time, we will see who is wielding the gun – and what they do directly after Robert falls down…

    6. Someone’s heroic actions have unexpected results…

An unlikely hero makes a decision that will change the course of everything for them.

    7. Someone’s life changes forever…

And we aren’t talking Robert or the shooter, here.

    8. Someone makes a big admission

And it’s very emotional to watch – it may well explain quite a lot too…

    9. There is a bitter stand off between two characters…

Two residents will play out a scene that hasn’t yet aired that will show a nasty exchange – and some long held anger aired…

    10. New stories will kick off…

    (Picture: ITV/Metro)

Come the end of the episode, there will be several new storylines now underway and ready to bring drama to winter that you didn’t previously know about. What next for the shooter and the suspects? And what will happen in the wake of secrets being revealed that will rock the village for months, if not years to come?

You don’t want to miss it!

This sounds brilliant. Who is the unlikely hero?

Someone makes big admission - Paddy?

And 2 residents in nasty exchange.

Also Thursday spoiler is worded slightly different "Meanwhile, Ross returns to the village and is annoyed that Andy seems to be on friendly terms with Pete."

Could just be because they are mates after what Andy knows happened with Pete and Ross or Has there been some sort of an exchange between Ross and Andy?

I've been wondering about Cain's location when Robert was shot for some time.

Suspects with unknown locations at the time of the shooting include:
Aaron (near the pub/garage but where exactly?)
    Cain (completely unknown location)
Chrissie (was she with Eric in The Grange?)
Lachlan (he was in the village but where exactly?)
Ross (he was near Debbie's house but where exactly?).

Eric tells Cain about Chrissie on October 20th. Cain then sneaks upstairs with gloves on at Home Farm before gate-crashing the party downstairs. This could be just another red herring, of course, but it does raise more questions.

Does Cain plant the gun used to shoot Robert in Chrissie's bedroom? And so is Cain Robert's shooter?

Cain has a motive for shooting Robert because Chas told him earlier that she wanted Robert dead because of Aaron's knowledge about Katie's death. Spoilers show that Cain also has known form for later trying to kill Robert by asphyxiation at the hospital.

Cain has just become a very interesting character.

Yes I don't think Cain can be ruled out. He is certainly capable and was pretty quiet in the lead up and on the night it happened. He wasn't at the farm when Moira and Pete were looking for Ross. Could Ross and Cain have met? Somehow crossed paths
