yes - to.all 3 villians mentioned especially Jez who
was very believable as a "younger " villain!

live episodes do take a lot of planning /
staff/money and ED have just had "second"
    air crash.!

But probably because Corrie started a few years
after ITV and was the first major national tv soap*
whereas ED started later and wasnt national
    for some years after starting

    * BBC had one called " the Groves" but
    doesnt sound successful??

The Grove Family was very successful when it first started in 1954. However, ITV started the following year and their first soap, Emergency Ward 10, showed the BBC how to do it! In fact, I would say that Emergency Ward 10 was ITV's first major national TV soap. It was hugely popular and made household names of its stars such as Charles Tingwell and Desmond Carrington. It ran for 10 years.

I can remember watching both The Grove Family and Emergency Ward 10, but I guess my soap addict days really started with EM10.

Unfortunately, I haven't watched Coronation Street as religiously as I have Eastenders, so I've missed some of Corrie's all-time great villains like Richard Hillman and Jez Quigley. I've been watching faithfully for the last decade or so, and during that time Tony Gordon has been my personal favourite baddie.

I agree the Callum storyline has been disappointing, but I'm looking forward to the climax because it'll involve some of my all-time favourite characters - the Platt family. It might also involve Jason who I like well enough, and Tony - who's become a compelling character in his own right. Hopefully, the shockwaves for everyone involved will be exciting stuff.

The Platts are about all that's going for it. I don't think Lloyd and Andrea's depature or Tim discovering that Sally and Kevin kissed is particularly live episode worthy.
