By the looks of these spoilers nothing much is happening and the only exciting thing is "Val’s extraordinary funeral". How sad is that, LOL.

Not sure I agree - Who is Lawrence's new acquaintance? How is he duped? Possibly someone in drag. Who or what is Jimmy's house guest? And what has Aaron done? Presumably covered for Robert about the fire??? Think Dan may go for the career Ruby wanted - it seems to be leading up to him needing some nursing skills to overcome his guilt.

Val’s extraordinary funeral - mind boggles - Mardi Gras style springs to mind - it's not going to be a quiet low key event that's for sure -they wouldn't confuse us would they? Give us just that as we are all expecting a major event.

Like I said, nothing much. I want to know what’s happening with Ross, as for Lawrence who really cares. And no doubt, the "missing/dead Ross" story line will drag on and on.

    Hi there, Cheetah.

There seems to be a fault with the server or script that soapboards.co.uk use for this website.

The best thing to do for now is to never use the "Post Quick Reply" button to add a new post to the board after you have written something in the 'Quick Reply' text box. Always use the "Go Advanced" button, you'll then get the chance to add emoticons and other features to your reply and then when you click on 'Submit Reply' you won't get a duplicate post. You can also 'Preview Post' to check what you're going to send to the forum before you submit it using 'Submit Reply'.

A guilty Aaron listens in as Andy tells Chas that the barn has been sold and he will probably never know why Katie went there on the day of her death.

Later, Aaron tries to convince Andy not to be so hard on himself. However, Andy fires back by telling Aaron that he will never forgive him for not telling the truth about his affair with Robert. Andy points out that if Aaron had just told the truth, Katie might still be alive. Aaron is shocked, knowing that Andy is closer to the truth than he realises.

Meanwhile, Lawrence is impressed when Bernice puts Robert in his place and they share a bottle of wine. Bernice is excited when Lawrence invites her to an exclusive ball, thinking he seems keener than she could have hoped for.

Elsewhere, Diane remains determined to help Eric. His home is a mess, so she begins to clean up and puts Val's lipstick-stained cup in the sink to wash. Later, Eric is furious to see the cup on the draining board with no sign of the lipstick. He angrily smashes it before storming out. A furious Pollard then tells a devastated Diane that as she left Val to die, she has no right to be at her funeral.

Also today, Emma and James announce that they are back together to a muted reception.

It's the day of Val's funeral. Diane decides to attend the service, but it's clear that she is dreading the prospect of facing Eric. In the café, everyone worries about Eric when Paul tells them how livid he is with Diane. David hopes Ashley is right when he says that Diane and Eric will be able to find a way through this. However, when Diane does try to talk to Eric, he continues to blame her for Val's death.

Later, the stage is set for a very unconventional funeral and everyone is relieved when an emotionally fragile Eric finally turns up, but is he there to stay?

Meanwhile, a good-looking guy called Connor arrives in the village and Kerry gives him directions to Home Farm, thinking he is a reporter. Once Connor gets to Home Farm, he kicks a stable door off its hinges before regaining his composure and heading towards the house. Lawrence is wary when Connor introduces himself as an odd job man, explaining that he heard about the Enterprise Awards and wanted to impress Lawrence with his can-do attitude. Is Connor to be trusted?

Elsewhere, Andy is thoughtful when Chas points out that both him and Aaron could do with a mate right now. Aaron feels a mixture of hope and guilt when Andy hands him an olive branch. Later, Aaron is uneasy when Andy finds Katie's phone bill after deciding to sort through some of her stuff. Andy goes to call the last number Katie dialled before she died…

Also today, Alicia is taken aback when Paul tells her that he'd like her to be a partner in his bar, but she worries about the timing for David.

Later, Bernice visits Home Farm for lunch and plucks up the courage to ask Lawrence if he is gay. However, they're soon interrupted by the police and Lawrence is horrified to learn of Connor's accusations of assault. When Robert returns, Lawrence is overcome when Robert says that he believes him and vows to help him. But can Robert be trusted?

Chris Chittell is the longest serving Emmerdale cast actor, having played Eric Pollard continuously since 1986. Here he talks about his current storyline.

Radio Times published on Tuesday August 25th 2015:
    >
Eric Pollard is suicidal following Val's death, says Emmerdale star Chris Chittell

The week of Val's funeral will see Pollard banning Diane from the service

Eric Pollard is suicidal following Val's death, says Emmerdale star Chris Chittell

    By David Brown
    Tuesday 25 August 2015 at 12:01AM

Grieving Eric Pollard is to be left feeling that he has nothing to live for in the wake of wife Val's death, says Emmerdale star Chris Chittell.

"Val gave Eric a purpose in life for the first time ever. For her to be removed in such a cruel fashion is just heinous and unbearable," says the actor. "I think he's close to killing himself because he can't see any redeeming features of his life. If he could croak tomorrow, he would."

Next week's episodes of the ITV soap will see Pollard struggling to cope in the run-up to Val's funeral and lashing out at sister-in-law Diane after her attempts to help backfire.

"Diane comes round and thinks she's doing Pollard a favour by tidying up. But she ends up washing a cup that had Val's lipstick imprinted on it. Eric cherished that cup - he'd look at it and focus on his life with Val and what he had. So his reaction when Diane cleans it is, 'how dare she?"

In the heat of the moment, Eric ends up banning Diane from the funeral, telling her that because she left Val to die on the fateful afternoon of the helicopter crash, then she has no right to be at the service.

"Diane is feeling the brunt of Eric's anger and - in his eyes - deservedly so. She left Val in that mirror maze, which to him is unforgivable. Pollard wasn't there at the time, but he has to vent his spleen somewhere and therefore it has to be Diane."

On the day that Val died, Eric, Rodney and Doug had locked Val and Diane in the mirror maze as a way of getting them to sort out their differences, little suspecting that Val would be the dead by the end of the afternoon. So does Pollard need to face up to his own guilt and stop punishing Diane?

"If Eric did that, then it'd be the point of no return," continues Chittell. "He will have to address that, but he just can't at the moment. It's everybody's fault but his."

So with fury and recrimination swirling, it seems that the stage is set for a very emotive send-off for Val. "He's let Diane have free rein with planning the funeral. But when Pollard finds out that Diane left her sister to die, he doesn't want anything more to do with her. He's a very angry man indeed.

"But, in a way, it's his anger that's getting Eric through the day. If he didn't have that, maybe he'd just float away.

"I feel that Eric has got a very long road ahead of him. There's nobody who can take Valerie's place and he certainly doesn't envisage anyone ever being able to do so."

For Chittell, the exit of co-star Charlie Hardwick was one he felt keenly ("we were a great team. Every now and again in this business, you find someone you just enjoy working with"), with the recent scene in which Val's 'ghost' visited Eric proving to be one of their finest moments together.

"I thought that scene was genius. From the script and the direction to the costume and make-up - everything was spot on. On the Friday evening that Val's 'apparition' appeared, Twitter went potty. I was answering tweets for two-and-a-half hours. Unbelievable! And it's an example of what we at Emmerdale care about. It's been going for 43 years and has given work to thousands of clever people and to be a part of it is a great honour."
