Emmerdale star Bill Ward has hinted that his character's ongoing love triangle could reach a conclusion soon, revealing that James wants to get back with his former wife Emma.

Viewers know that Emma (Gillian Kearney) is currently scheming to prise James away from Chas (Lucy Pargeter) once and for all.

Chas recently dumped James after discovering that he had spent the night with Emma, but tonight's episode of the soap will see the old chemistry between them return, leaving Emma furious.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain this morning (May 7), Ward discussed his character's complicated love life, admitting that James's feelings truly lie with Emma.

When asked if James would make a decision soon, Ward said: "I suspect the decision might be made for him by one of the other two.

"The thing with James is that he would like at some point to get back with his wife Emma because he loves her. He has always felt like he was responsible for the break-up of his family and all those kinds of things.

"We will see what happens. It's feisty, juicy, all the above. And possibly violent in a soap way, who can tell?"

Ward, who previously starred on Coronation Street, also revealed that he is enjoying his time on Emmerdale, having had a break from soaps.

He said: "It means you are constantly working. You are constantly getting new scripts and you are constantly trying to work out which way a character is going to go.

"The thing about soaps is that it is open-ended. If you do a play, or a film, you have already got a beginning, a middle and an end.

"Whereas with a show like Emmerdale or Corrie, you have a beginning, you have a middle, but you don't know what the end is. So you have to play it out for the moment."
