Monday
Lee's 22nd birthday has arrived and the Carters are preparing a lunch to celebrate. When Aunt Babe spots Stan appearing in high spirits, she realises that he still hasn't told them his shock news. Stan doesn't want Babe to interfere, but she ignores him and tells the family that he has terminal cancer. With everyone in shock, Mick and Tina realise that they need Shirley back more than ever.
Later, Babe deals with the consequences of her actions as Stan accuses her of ruining Lee's birthday. He warns that he can see straight through Babe and that family clearly mean nothing to her. As the row continues, Stan grabs Babe's arm and demands to know where she is hiding Shirley…
Meanwhile, when Stacey wakes up in Dean's bed, she is impressed to find that he has already got Lily ready for school. However, when Stacey later spots Dean flirting with a customer and gets jealous, she decides that a proper relationship between them would never work due to his lifestyle. Later, Stacey supports Dean following Stan's news. Dean is keen for Stacey to see that he can change, so she later buys him some nicotine patches and reveals that she may change her mind if he can kick his smoking habit.
Elsewhere, Cora is utterly heartbroken to overhear a conversation between Tina and Tosh about Stan's illness. Struggling to cope, she walks out of The Vic.
Also today, Linda is torn by her decision.
Tuesday
When Mick interrupts Aunt Babe and Stan's argument, he is shocked when Stan reveals that Babe knows where Shirley is. Babe is forced to tell Mick that someone has been living in their caravan, but she thinks it's just kids messing around. Despite this, Mick decides that it's worth a look anyway and Dean joins him. The journey initially seems fruitless when Shirley isn't in the caravan, but they soon see Shirley heading towards them.
Shirley is stunned to realise that Babe has been deceiving her when Mick explains that Phil is fine and has covered for her with the police, meaning that there's no reason for her to hide anymore. Mick also reveals that Stan has terminal cancer, but a shaken Shirley still refuses to come home as she says they are all better off without her. Once Mick and Dean leave, a man emerges from the darkness and embraces Shirley…
Meanwhile, Johnny has invited Ben to Lee's birthday celebrations, but Lee makes him feel unwelcome as he doesn't want a murderer hanging around. Ben decides to leave when he realises that he isn't welcome, but Johnny rushes after him and tries to apologise for his older brother's behaviour. Ben leans in to kiss Johnny but when he hears Abi approaching, he gets cold feet and shouts at Johnny to back off. Ben also calls Johnny some insulting names, but he pays the price when Lee steps in and attacks him. Unfortunately, Lee accidentally knocks over Nancy in his raging state.
Lee is soon left regretting his aggressive behaviour when Fatboy and Lauren speculate over how Whitney will react to the news. At the same time, Abi takes Ben back to the Branning house to clean him up and they end up kissing as Ben continues his attempts to prove that he is straight.
Elsewhere, when Stan catches up with Cora, she isn't pleased with him for keeping his illness a secret from her. Will Stan be able to reason with Cora?
Thursday
Mick and Dean return to the caravan park after spending the night in a B&B. Putting a surprising plan into action, they attach the locked caravan to the back of Mick's car and drive it back to Albert Square.
After parking up outside The Vic, Mick and Dean receive the shock of their lives when they open the caravan door…
Meanwhile, Linda is horrified when Mick confronts her over her recent behaviour.
Elsewhere, Tina is desperate to help her father and has been reading up on prostate cancer, but Tosh is sceptical over Stan's claims. When Tina arranges an appointment with Stan's consultant, she is devastated to hear that he is refusing any more treatment.
Also today, Johnny is surprised when Ben and Abi announce they are in a relationship.
