Emmerdale's huge week ended in tragedy in Friday evening's episode (September 26) as the death of a regular character was confirmed.

Robbie Lawson lost his life after being sent flying into a lake by a flare gun while trying to save Charity Macey from his murderous uncle Declan.

The news was revealed to Robbie's grief-stricken mother Megan after she was asked to identify a body which had been pulled from the lake by the police.

Jamie Shelton, who played Robbie, filmed his dramatic Emmerdale exit scenes a few weeks ago after more than two years with the show.

Speaking to Digital Spy this week, Shelton commented: "My time on Emmerdale has been such an exhilarating experience. From my first day until my last I've been treated with respect, had the opportunity to work with some fine actors and been allowed to develop my acting ability in a way that I couldn't have in any other circumstance.

"I hope I have made a positive impact on the show and I am extremely excited for my career to be further concentrated towards TV and film in the UK and transatlantic."

Megan and Robbie get to the cottage but with Declan and Charity not there Megan and Robbie continue to look for them nearby.

While an injured Declan also ended up in the lake after the Maceys' violent showdown, Friday's episode concluded with Megan warning Charity that he must still be alive as his body has not been found.

Emmerdale airs more drama on Monday at 7pm on ITV as the recent dramatic events continue to cause shockwaves in the village.
