Emmerdale's huge week takes another twist tonight (September 24) as Charity Macey discovers that her husband Declan wants to kill her.

Gripping scenes this week have seen Charity (Emma Atkins) lured away to a remote cottage by Declan, who is plotting a deadly revenge after discovering that she lied about suffering a miscarriage.

In tonight's episode, Declan (Jason Merrells) continues to scheme as he goes off into the woods and smashes Charity's phone to pieces, wanting to make sure that she is totally cut off from her loved ones back in the village.

Declan then answers a phone call from his sister Megan, who is desperate to track him down after realising that he was behind the recent poisoning scandal at Home Farm.

As Charity listens in to the revealing conversation, she is horrified to learn that Declan is planning to kill her and she panics over what to do next.

Realising that she needs to strike against Declan before he does the unthinkable, Charity prepares to make her move - but will she manage to?

Down at the police station, Megan is still being questioned about poisoning Noah – and Charity is quick to drop her in it when she tells the detectives that Megan knocked her to the floor when she was pregnant. Megan continues to protest her innocence but can feel the net closing in now that even Declan has abandoned her. For his part he thinks that getting away for a few days might be the tonic Charity needs, and they head off to a remote cottage. Edna is nervous around Aaron, who threatens to blow her secret, and Sandy is worried when he witnesses a confrontation between the pair. Diane seems completely oblivious to the fact that Doug fancies her. Kirin takes his dog to the vet as an excuse to see Vanessa, but they are interrupted by Paddy, who walks in on them kissing. Paddy has a row with her about Kirin’s age, but she argues that it is all perfectly legal. Later, in the Woolpack, the couple take the bull by the horns and declare that they are now an item. Meanwhile, back at their retreat, Declan plans a boat trip with Charity. When people come looking for them, they find the cottage empty, and soon the entire village is left reeling at the events that follow.

Emmerdale fans will see Declan and Charity Macey's sinister battle continue in an explosive double bill on Thursday evening (September 25).

The show's latest episode saw Declan (Jason Merrells) knock Charity (Emma Atkins) unconscious during their remote cottage holiday, just moments after she figured out that he was planning to kill her.

Charity had hoped to strike against Declan before he got a chance to make his move, but it turned out that she was no match for her sinister husband.

The pair's next shocking scenes will see Declan bundle Charity's lifeless body into his car boot before driving off to dig her grave.

To Declan's surprise, however, there is still life left in Charity as she kicks out when he opens the boot.

As a tussle ensues, Charity flees into the woods and with everything at stake, who comes out on top is still anyone's guess.

Emmerdale has confirmed that Charity and Declan Macey's dark storyline will end in tragedy.

The pair's turbulent relationship has already taken some shocking twists this week as Declan (Jason Merrells) has tried to kill his deceitful wife during their holiday at a remote cottage.

Emmerdale's latest episode saw Declan knock Charity (Emma Atkins) unconscious after she figured out that he was plotting against her, but tonight's double bill sees Charity regain the upper hand as she escapes from his clutches and rushes off into the woods.

When a frantic Charity ends up at the edge of a lake with Declan in hot pursuit, she jumps onto a jetty and then onto a small boat.

Unfortunately, the schemer's ordeal is far from over as the motor on the boat soon stops working, allowing Declan to swim out to join her and climb aboard - still determined to get rid of her forever.

As the ruthless couple go head-to-head, Megan Macey, Robbie Lawson, Debbie Dingle and Pete Barton all arrive nearby following concern over Charity's safety on the holiday.

Exact details of what happens next are being kept tightly under wraps, but it has been confirmed that a body will be pulled from the lake in Friday's episode (September 26) - indicating a tragic conclusion for one of the characters involved in the storyline.
