Emmerdale's Adam Barton will be framed for the murder of Alex Moss in an upcoming storyline.

Police will grill Adam (played by Adam Thomas) when true culprit Cameron Murray plants evidence that suggests he was responsible for the murder.

Speaking to SoapSquawk, Thomas said: "It comes about because Alex's body is found, Cameron gets scared and basically points the police in the direction of Adam Barton.

"Adam's past - trying to kill Cain and the hit and run - nobody thinks he's innocent. It gets to the point when even his own mum doesn't believe him.

"They think Adam did it because Alex slept with Moira, Cameron uses that bit of information to his advantage.

"Weirdly the only person who believes he's innocent is Cain."

The actor said he is unsure how the storyline will play out but added that the evidence against his character is overwhelmingly against him.

"He feels lost and thinks he could go down for a murder he didn't commit," he added.

Coming up on Emmerdale, Laurel Thomas places herself in serious danger as she continues the search for her attacker Ross.

Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) finally tracks down the carjacker when she starts visiting other garages that Cain Dingle has been dealing with.

Spotting the culprit at one of the garages, Laurel follows him home and makes her way inside, clutching a pair of scissors.

Startled by Laurel's visit, Ross apologises for what he did to her, but it's not enough for Laurel and she refuses to leave.

Unfortunately for Laurel, Ross soon becomes cocky as he sees that her façade is wavering. He tries to take control and Laurel is unnerved as he moves closer, backing her against the door.

When Ross knocks a lamp over, Laurel drops the scissors in shock. Now in complete control, he looks menacingly at his terrified victim.

At the same time, Marlon and Cain have figured out where Laurel is and are rushing to Ross's home. Can they rescue her in time?

Desperate Rhona tries a new drug with severe consequences

Rhona recovers in hospital after an adverse reaction to her drugs

Hopefully this might make her realise the harm she's putting herself in... Doubt it will though, this is soapland after all..

Rhona makes a call to arrange a meeting with her dealer. The dodgy dealer's offerings look dangerous as they are unboxed and unbranded, but a desperate Rhona rips into them and gorges what she can.

Later, Vanessa apologises to Rhona for messing up their friendship by her confession over her feelings. However, Rhona is unable to listen and dashes to the lavatory to be violently sick. It soon becomes clear that there is a serious problem when she begins vomiting blood. Rhona is rushed to hospital and is in a bad way, while Vanessa is distraught to realise the extent of her addiction and deceptive dealings. She urges Rhona to come clean to both the hospital and Paddy, but can Rhona admit the truth?

Meanwhile, Cain is hot on the scent of Cameron. Debbie is shaken when Cain confronts her over Cameron visiting her. Debbie blames it on him seeing Sarah, claiming that she personally can't stand his guts. She also makes out that she will give him a piece of her mind, and Cain seems appeased for a moment. Later in the pub, Debbie feels forced to make a big public show of pushing Cameron away, but will it ease Cain's suspicions?

Elsewhere, Laurel is living life on a knife edge, flinching and jumping at anyone or anything, including a man who she thinks resembles her attacker. With Laurel too scared to leave the house, Marlon is keen to encourage her to face up to her fears and suggests dinner out. But can he help her?

Also today, a gloating Steve leaves for Paris with Bernice, David is keen to help Nikhil face up to his grief, while Belle arrives at the vets to start some work experience.

    Tuesday
Rhona is visited in hospital by the doctor, who is worried about her. As Rhona had so much paracetamol in her body, it was either down to an overdose or a dependency problem. Taking matters into her own hands and to avoid more questions, Rhona swiftly discharges herself.

Later at home, Paddy is mortified, angry and perplexed to have phoned Rhona's mother, only to discover that his wife has been lying to him about where she is. When Rhona returns home, will Paddy confront his wife and get the truth as to where she has been?

Meanwhile, Laurel convinces Marlon, Bob and Dan that she has just seen her attacker entering the café. The men take her accusations seriously and confront the man before calling the police, who promptly arrest him. Could Laurel have found the attacker at last, or is it her paranoia confusing her once more?

Elsewhere, Cain offers Debbie an olive branch for being wrong about Cameron, but explains that he will still be keeping his eye on him. Later, Debbie is annoyed when Cameron visits her. He is feeling uneasy as Chas wants him to carry Gennie's coffin. Debbie gives Cameron a clear message - they are not telling Chas about their relationship until after the funeral is over.

Also today, Dom is pleased when Alicia says she will move in with him, but is Alicia quite as sure as she makes out?

    Wednesday
An edgy Dan gives Laurel names of three garages that Cain was dealing with that day. Dan can see that Laurel is at the end of her tether over this and is not getting much help. When Laurel catches Marlon yet again ridiculing her fears, she decides to go and find her attacker herself.

At one of the garages on her list, Laurel freezes in fear when she hears a voice she recognises as that of her attacker's. Soon Laurel follows him discreetly to his home. What will she do now she thinks she has found him?

Meanwhile, Val and Pollard are excited about the photoshoot and interview for the B&B, and Amy seems keen too. However, when Kerry needs taking to hospital as her foot tattoo has gone septic, Amy is the one to step in. With Kerry being diabetic, Amy realises that it could be serious. At the hospital, Kerry has a long wait and Amy watches as the minutes and hours pass, knowing privately what she is missing.

Back in the village, Val and Pollard are perplexed over why Amy has gone AWOL. When Kerry and Amy return to the village, Kerry feels guilty, while Amy seems to have resigned herself to how things are when she is dealing with her wayward mother.

Elsewhere, Rhona is completely thrown when Paddy explains that he's booked them a last-minute instant break in Whitby to save their marriage. Unable to find a legitimate reason to object, she is forced to agree. Later, Vanessa drops her bombshell that she will leave for good whilst they are away. How will Rhona cope?

Also today, Declan's plan to look generous by offering free festival tickets to Alicia doesn't wash with Katie, who just wants out. With the festival next week, Megan wants them to fill the stables again.

    Thursday
Laurel pulls up outside the flat of the man, who she is sure was her attacker Ross. Locking her car doors, she grasps the scissors and waits. Seeing Ross, she gets out her car and tenses as he comes towards her. Their eyes meet, but he walks on oblivious. Laurel sees that her hand is bloody from clenching the scissors so tight, and her fear is replaced by anger.

Later, Marlon is confused to learn that Laurel has not been in work all week. He heads out to speak to Cain, leaving a guilty Dan covering the bar. Marlon finds Cain and demands the carjacker's details, telling him what has happened. He is grateful when Cain says that he'll go with him to look for Laurel.

Outside Ross's flat, Laurel sees someone exiting and slips inside as they open the door. Laurel follows a perplexed Ross into his flat and pulls the scissors out on him, telling him that she wants to hurt him like he hurt her…

Meanwhile, Gemma calls round to see Belle with some festival tickets, and she admits sleeping with Sean because she was jealous. However, Belle is not ready to forgive her and bitterly suggests that she'll get over her abortion. Gemma leaves upset, and Belle knows she may have gone too far. Later, Lisa finds Belle stewing over a text from Gemma, admitting that she feels sorry for her. Lisa heads back to work after Belle tells her she'll be okay. Alone, she rereads the text, missing her friend.

Elsewhere, Eric is distracted by a death notice in the paper for Kyle's adoptive parents. He shows Val and neither one of them know what the best thing to do with this information is.

Also, Amy is livid when Dan sets up a meeting between her and Kerry. Kerry is hurt when Amy leaves, saying that she doesn't care what she does anymore.

Finally, Vanessa urges Rhona to come clean to Paddy while they're away, Katie is conscious of Declan watching her, and Alicia moves her things into Dom's.

A nervous but determined Laurel confronts Ross. Aware of the scissors, he realises that she means business. He apologises when it dawns on him who she is, but it's not enough. At the same time, Cain and Marlon pull up at Ross's work. Cain recognises Glen, who eventually gives him Ross's address. They have no other option but to hope it's the right one.

Back at the flat, Laurel's confidence is slipping but she remains defiant, needing Ross to know how he's made her feel. However, Ross becomes cocky as he sees her façade wavering. He tries to take control and she is unnerved as he moves closer, backing her against the door. Ross knocks a lamp over and Laurel drops the scissors in shock. Now in complete control, he looks menacingly at a terrified Laurel. Will Marlon and Cain make it in time?

Meanwhile, a manipulative Rhona is trying to convince Vanessa to stay, worried that she'll lose her drug supply. However, Vanessa remains unconvinced. In Smithy, Paddy is nervous as he knows his marriage depends on this trip. Rhona tells Paddy that going away won't fix anything and Paddy is heartbroken as he says they don't have a marriage anymore. Overhearing, Vanessa knows Rhona has chosen her over her marriage - will this convince her to stay?

Elsewhere, Val ignores an angry Eric and tells Amy about Kyle's adoptive parents dying. Amy is shocked, wondering what's going to happen to Kyle now.

    Friday

A nervous Amy tells Cain about Kyle's parents, but he barely reacts. Shocked by his dismissal, Amy says that she'd thought he'd be more interested having just lost a baby with Moira, but Cain is adamant that he doesn't care.

Later, when Cain tells Moira, she sympathises with Amy and Cain is left feeling guilty. Cain apologises to Amy, but urges her to let Kyle go. Victoria also tries to reassure Amy that Kyle is fine, but it becomes clear that she isn't going to just be able to forget her son when she tells her friend that she's going to the funeral tomorrow.

Meanwhile, worried that Laurel still isn't letting this go, Marlon confides in Ashley about her actions the day before. Ashley defends his ex and tells Marlon that he should be more supportive. Laurel enters and is annoyed that Marlon has been talking to Ashley. As Marlon leaves, Ashley is worried about Laurel and asks her why she went to see Ross. Laurel gets upset and eventually asks him to leave, but Ashley is defiant - she needs help. With his words sinking in, Laurel asks him what to do and she begins to open up. Could Ashley provide the support she really needs?

Elsewhere, Rhona uses her relationship breakdown with Paddy to manipulate Vanessa into giving her more pills. Sensing Paddy is vulnerable, Vanessa suggests to him that Rhona may be seeing someone else.

Also today, Rishi and Jude are shocked and at a loss when Nikhil tells them that he is not going to Gennie's funeral.
