The first pictures of the restored Rovers Return in Coronation Street have been revealed.

The iconic pub will reopen on Sunday, May 26, after a fire ripped through it earlier this year and caused two characters to die.

Karl is at Stella's side at the re-opening of the Rovers Return on Coronation Street

However, the opening which Stella Price (Michelle Collins) has been planning for months doesn't go smoothly when Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) goes into shock premature labour.

The Rovers Return re-opens for business

Of the Rovers Return's new look, Coronation Street art director Rosie Mullins-Hoyle said: "The redesign of the Rovers was a massive challenge firstly because it was the first time in 25 years that the set had come out of stage 1!

"For myself it is an iconic set and perhaps the most famous in the country so there is a lot of pressure to get it right and do it justice."

I wonder if I could get the same builders in to build my sun room. They seem remarkably quick. After such a fire the would have needed new plumbing and a complete rewire as well as planning permission. They mist have used Weetabix the Builder

I'm glad you said that because I was struggling to see the difference.

Also is that Gary I see in the pic? If Owen had threatened to sue me, just because he saw me having a drink my mother had paid for to celebrate my engagement, I wouldn't let him or his family in my pub after lol

Although Stella deserves Karl, she's that stupid for taking him back she deserves everything she gets that one. Muppet.

Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has admitted that she doesn't want her character Tina McIntyre to leave as a villain.

The actress will bow out from her popular soap role next year as she wants to pursue new projects.

Speaking at a Coronation Street press day yesterday (May 16), Keegan said that Tina's exit storyline should stay true to her character.

Keegan explained: "Because Tina came in with a bang, I'd love her to go out with a bang. But I've always said that Tina is a good person, and I'd like her to stay that way."

On her future ambitions, the 25-year-old continued: "I've got no plan now. Leaving was a hard decision. I just thought, 'I've been there six years and if I don't go now, I'll always look back and think, what if? I've always said that I'd love to do a period drama, I think because I love watching them."

Tina has more dramatic scenes on the way later this month as she gives birth to the baby she is carrying for Gary Windass and Izzy Armstrong two months early.

Keegan commented: "It was really daunting to film. When I knew I was going to have the pregnancy, I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm going to have to do a birthing scene'. I've always been really worried about that.

"So when I found out about the storyline, I did loads of research. I asked women who'd been through birth about what it was like and heard loads of stories. One person said she was screaming, the other said it wasn't all that painful!

"I also started watching One Born Every Minute and picked up some tips from that, but when it comes to it, you have to go with your instinct. Obviously because it's a soap, it has to be dramatised a little bit. I went with how I thought Tina would react to it."

Revealing that the story has affected her away from the cameras, she added: "I'm always quite broody, but it probably made me broodier. Just because I was talking about being pregnant all the time and going to antenatal classes. I've now picked up some tips along the way!"

Coronation Street airs Tina's birth scenes in a special 9pm week which kicks off on Sunday, May 26

Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has revealed that his character Tommy Duckworth will become extremely close to ex-girlfriend Tina McIntyre again.

Tommy is the main source of support for Tina when she gives birth to Gary Windass and Izzy Armstrong's baby two months early in an upcoming episode.

Speaking at a Coronation Street press day yesterday (May 16), Fountain explained: "It's a strange situation, because Tina and Tommy broke up over this baby, but now he changes his opinion of her. Tommy tells Tina that he's really proud of her and he wishes he'd have seen sooner what a brilliant thing she was doing for Gary and Izzy with the surrogacy.

"Tina is the love of Tommy's life, so he'll always be there for her no matter what. Now that they've been through the pregnancy together and they're still friends, it brings them closer."

He continued: "Because the baby's so ill, we spend a lot of time in the hospital together. We've been filming at the hospital for about three months now. Gary and Izzy have families to support them, but Tina and Tommy only really have each other.

"Even if Tina did decide she wanted to keep the baby, Tommy would stick with her because he loves her to bits."

Fountain also backed co-star Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina, over her decision to leave Coronation Street next year.

He said: "I made the same decision that Michelle made when I left Hollyoaks. Being in a soap is such an amazing job. It's like hitting the jackpot, really. So many actors are out of work so it's a difficult thing to leave. I've got massive respect for Michelle as it's a very hard decision."

Coronation Street stars Cherylee Houston and Mikey North have revealed that they can see a light at the end of the tunnel for their characters Izzy Armstrong and Gary Windass.

The Weatherfield couple's future comes under severe threat later this month as Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) tells Izzy about Gary making a pass at her.

With Izzy reeling over the bombshell, her arguments with Gary become so severe that Tina questions whether she should still give away the baby she has been carrying for the pair.

However, speaking at a Coronation Street press event yesterday (May 16), North commented: "I hope you would fight for your kid no matter what happened. I certainly would. But the thing is that if Gary and Izzy are no longer together but are fighting for their child, then it's a weaker argument.

"I suppose anything's possible with these two characters. I would hope they'd go to any lengths for their kid. It's a very unnatural situation to be in with someone else having given birth to your child."

Houston added: "As far as Izzy and Gary are concerned, they need to sort out their problems. In their minds it's questions like, 'Who's going to have the baby between them?' and 'Who's he going to live with?' If Gary's been a bad boy, then she isn't going to want the baby living with him."
The pair are even holding out hope that Gary and Izzy can resolve their problems in the long-run.

Houston laughed: "I do like working with Mikey as a person and as an actor, but I hate admitting that to him! He pushes me a lot and I learn from him. As characters, they're an interesting mix. You never would have thrown those two together."

North said: "They've been through a lot together and they always seem to get through whatever's thrown their way."

Coronation Street airs Izzy's discovery and Tina's birth scenes in a special 9pm week which kicks off on Sunday, May 26. The episodes have been directed by Tony Prescott, who worked on the recent Rovers fire and Corrie's live episodes in 2000 and 2010

Is the baby suppose to be Tommy and Tina's not Izzy and Gary's baby?
