Rumour has it there's a new Dingle about to pop up in the Dales.

On LK Today they said the new Dingle will be called Genesis Dingle, another bible name. She is supposed to be Chastity's sister, so Shadrach can welcome another daughter.

I say, bring her on. I love the whole clan.

How many more are going to crawl out of the woodwork. As much as the dingles are entertaining they just keep introducing more of them. Maybe they should bring back Mandy for Paddy as he hasn't had any fun for a while.

'Emmerdale' welcomes Genesis Dingle

Emmerdale's Dingle tribe are in for an April Fool shock when a long-lost family member turns up out of the blue.

Genesis 'Gennie' Walker, played by soap newcomer Sian Reese-Williams, arrives in the Dales on Tuesday, April 1, much to the shock of her estranged father Shadrach (Andy Devine) and her biological sister, Chastity (Lucy Pargeter).

Gennie's planned meeting with her father – who gave her up for adoption – is scuppered by a shock road accident, leaving her fighting for her life in hospital.

Of her new role, the 26-year-old said: "I'm thrilled to have been given this fantastic opportunity. Emmerdale is such an iconic programme and I can't wait to take my place in the Dingle family."

The soap's new series producer Anita Turner added: "I'm delighted to welcome Sian to the show and we've got some exciting storylines planned.

"Chas, for one, is left reeling from the news that she has a long-lost sister. Genesis is not your typical Dingle and she's in for a real culture shock when she meets her biological family."

Reese-Williams – who has worked on theatre productions of As You Like It, Be My Baby and The Dreaming – begins filming with the Yorkshire soap this week.

Emmerdale star Sian Reese-Williams has decided to leave the soap after five years playing Gennie Walker.

The actress will bow out on screen in the summer as she wishes to pursue other career opportunities.

Show bosses are now lining up a dramatic departure for Gennie to ensure that the popular character goes out with a bang.

In a statement released to Digital Spy today (May 12), Reese-Williams commented: "I have absolutely adored my five years playing Gennie and being part of such an iconic show.

"My decision to leave has nothing to do with Emmerdale - it's such a special place and I will always cherish it - but I feel it's the right time for me to say goodbye and find new challenges.

"It was an incredibly difficult decision to make and I will miss my friends, the show and of course Genesis. But as an actor, my main passion has always been playing many different people, and I'm really looking forward to doing that again. I am excited about what the future holds."

Reese-Williams made her first appearance in Emmerdale in April 2008, when Gennie turned up unexpectedly to meet her biological father Shadrach Dingle. Her time in the village got off to a dramatic start as she was immediately involved in a road accident.

Gennie's other major storylines have included a fling with Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), her popular partnership with Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem) and her live birth scene in Emmerdale''s special 40th anniversary episode.

More recently, Gennie has been supporting her adoptive mother Brenda after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursday.
