Jack Klugman who starred in NBC medical drama Quincy, has died at the age of 90.

Klugman's sons Adam and David confirmed that the Emmy award-winning actor passed away on Christmas Eve afternoon (Monday, December 24) in Los Angeles. His wife Peggy was at his bedside.

"He had a great life and he enjoyed every moment of it, and he would encourage others to do the same," Adam Klugman told The AP.

"His sons loved him very much. We'll carry on in his spirit," added David Klugman.

Born Jacob Joachim Klugman on April 27, 1922 in Philadelphia, he enjoyed a long career, taking up acting following his discharge from the US Army at the end of the Second World War.

In addition to his portrayal of tenacious and principled medical pathologist Dr Quincy, Klugman is probably best known for playing laid-back sports reporter Oscar Madison in The Odd Couple on Broadway, and in the subsequent 1970s ABC sitcom of the same name.

Klugman also appeared in shows such as The Twilight Zone, Diagnosis Murder, The Defender and The Fugitive. He was a Tony Award nominee, a triple Emmy winner and ten-time nominee, and received a Golden Globe in 1974 for his work on The Odd Couple.

He lost a vocal chord as a result of throat cancer in the 1980s, but taught himself to speak again and returned to acting in a Broadway revival of Three Men on a Horse in 1993.

Klugman is survived by his wife, his two sons from his first marriage to Brett Somers, and two grandchildren.

Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson has passed away at the age of 83.

He is said to have died peacefully in his sleep at midday today (December 26).

Anderson's son Jamie Anderson wrote a tribute to the man who was also behind Captain Scarlet and Stingray, saying on his blog: "I'm very sad to announce the death of my father, Thunderbirds creator, Gerry Anderson.

"He died peacefully in his sleep at midday today (26th December 2012), having suffered with mixed dementia for the past few years. He was 83."

Diagnosed with mixed dementia two years ago, Anderson had moved into a care home in October, after his condition worsened.

The creator leaves three children from former marriages - Joy, Linda and Gerry Junior - as well as further son Jamie and widow Mary.

Digital Spy championed Thunderbirds this year in Tube Talk Gold, describing the show as part of TV's cultural heritage.

Anderson's eight-project Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons has also been heralded as a TV masterpiece by DS.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have become parents for a second time, it has been confirmed.

Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born in Los Angeles via a surrogate on Friday evening (January 11) and weighed 8lbs 4oz.

John and Furnish told Hello: "Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable.

"The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.

"It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."

The pair's first son Zachary was born on Christmas Day, 2010.

They were reported last week to have welcomed a second child, but the claims were swiftly denied on Friday morning - at which point Elijah had not yet been born.

The pair were rumoured to have purchased a new Los Angeles mansion in October to make room for the new addition to their family.

The 'Candle in the Wind' singer said last summer that he "definitely" wanted another child as a brother or sister to Zachary.

He died in Blackpool's Trinity Hospice last night (February 17) after recently becoming ill on holiday in the US.

"Derek was a people person, who was never happier than when he was talking to either a prince or a pauper," ex-ITV producer and director Harry King told News & Star.

"He would do interviews with prime ministers and he could also talk comfortably to the lady next door. It was a great skill which he had."

Batey worked as a consultant and wrote some of the questions on the 2008 reboot of the show fronted by Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield.

The assistant controller of programmes for Border Television also hosted chat show Look Who's Talking between 1973 and 1985.
