As long as his savings are under the threshold the state will pay for him to go into a residential home. He has a number of medical issues which would justify this and as such would b entitled to benefits such as attendance allowance which would all go towards paying the fees

yes they would, but only after prolonged investigation into whether Sandy or Ashley could pay first. And if he went into a subsidised home, or council home, it would be one he was told to go to, not one they had all gone to look round a choose first!

If Sandy had any savings he'd be takingthem down the pub, not having to worry that he couldnt use his weekly pension?

You may well be right Perdita ,just seem to have stuck in my mind Ashley seeing him by chance on a senior citizens coach outing? I think Sandy went to India a while back either with or to visit a friend.

Coming up in Emmerdale, Cameron Murray and Chas Dingle betray Debbie by enjoying a passionate encounter in The Woolpack's cellar.

Sparks continue to fly between the pair in the coming days, until Cameron (Dominic Power) resolves to take things a step further - realising that he can't carry on ignoring his feelings.

Wanting to talk to Chas (Lucy Pargeter) in private, Cameron seizes an opportunity by following her into the pub's cellar as she changes a barrel. Chas insists that they have absolutely nothing to discuss, but when Cameron makes his feelings clear, she's unable to deny that she wants the same thing.

Soon afterwards, Cameron and Chas give into their lust by kissing passionately and tearing each other's clothes off.

However, after sleeping together, the duo are consumed with guilt as they get dressed and quickly agree to a cover story about changing the barrel. Will this be a one-off, or will they embark on an affair?

    Monday

Zak is feeling the pressure when Lisa mentions the importance of supporting Chas now that Aaron is gone. The stress heightens when Debbie then suggests that he could help her fix up the burnt-out garage. Zak is close to breaking point as he escapes to the gents at The Woolpack, and he collapses on his way back into the pub. Soon afterwards, Zak is stretchered out by paramedics with a worried Lisa following.

At the hospital, Zak is attached to a heart monitor for tests while a concerned Sam arrives with Samson. The doctor asks everyone to wait outside while he speaks to Zak privately. He suggests to Zak that he may have had a panic attack, brought on by stress or depression. The doctor wants to keep Zak in overnight, but he's determined to leave. Zak later keeps the doctor's diagnosis to himself, telling Lisa he's fine…

Meanwhile, Ashley sees Edna and Rachel whispering at the Easter egg hunt, and he becomes paranoid that they are gossiping about him. Inside the church, Edna is concerned about Ashley and asks if everything's okay as he seems distracted. However, Ashley is keen to close down the subject, assuring her that he is fine. Later, back at home, Ashley's paranoia gets out of control as he tells Laurel that Rachel was at the church spreading poison about him to Edna.

Elsewhere, Chas tells Cameron that she didn't mean anything she said last night and has no feelings for him, but her jealousy shows when she sees him comfort Debbie, Nikhil panics when he sees that Gennie is at work with a stinking cold because he can't bear the germs, Charity forms a plan when she picks up one of Gennie's files and calls the client, while Ali is nervous as Sean helps her to read.

    Tuesday

Rachel is confused when Ashley has a go at her in the street about spreading gossip. Back home, Sandy is shaken when an enraged Ashley questions him about what he's been saying to Edna and Rachel. Ashley then viciously grabs Sandy's wrist, hurting him. Ashley soon becomes emotional as he checks his father's wrist for damage and blames Sandy for making things so difficult.

Later, when Laurel returns with the kids, Sandy is distant. Ashley suggests they could go for a walk, but Sandy refuses and Laurel is bemused. In the church, Laurel sits with Ashley, telling him that he needs to forget about the gossip and face the world as the people who matter know the truth. Back home, Sandy finds the card and considers calling social services…

Meanwhile, Lisa thinks Zak should stay at home and rest after his funny turn, but Zak is insistent on helping Sam. In the Home Farm woods, Zak overdoes his show of energy as he helps Sam, but is clearly privately struggling. Sam worries when Zak gets dizzy and he thinks he might have been drinking. An exhausted Zak eventually agrees to leave early and heads home. Later, Lisa tries to get to the bottom of how it was, but Sam doesn't want to drop Zak in it.

Elsewhere, Nikhil is outraged when Jai agrees to give Charity the job of sales manager, Cameron feels wretched when Debbie tells him that he's been great, while Carl is amused about Jimmy secretly going to the sperm clinic, but Jimmy's full of dread when Carl tells him that his silence will come at a price.

    Wednesday

Laurel sees Sandy holding his wrist and Ashley is quick to help him, feeling awkward and struggling to look him in the eye. Soon afterwards, Sandy calls social services, unaware that Ashley has walked in behind him. Furious, Ashley takes the phone from his hand, leaving Sandy terrified. Ashley also rips up the business card and asks Sandy what he thought he was doing.

That evening, Laurel is concerned when Ashley tells her how much Sandy is struggling. Later, Ashley tells Sandy that he can no longer cope and wants Sandy to go into a home. Sandy is horrified and reminds him that Laurel won't agree to it. Ashley agrees, and so demands that Sandy must convince Laurel that it's what he wants for himself. Sandy is devastated.

Meanwhile, Chas paints on a smile when a man called Luke chats her up on a night out with Charity and Megan. Later, Cameron is jealous when he sees the girls arrive back with Luke in tow. Cameron heads for a pint while Chas turns on the charm with Luke. Cameron knows it's for his benefit, but Chas tells him that she can do what she wants.

Elsewhere, an exhausted Zak lies to Lisa that he's been to see the doctor, Gennie drags herself into work but finds Charity at her desk, while Nicola is surprised by Jimmy's willingness to go through with the vasectomy as Carl gives him a knowing smile.

    Thursday

Cameron thinks that Chas and Luke spent the night together and is distracted at the surgery as Debbie has her midwife appointment. It's all too real for Cameron when they discover that Debbie's having a boy. However, Chas tells Charity that she actually sent Luke home. Cameron can barely hide his smile when he discovers that Chas didn't sleep with Luke, but is jealous when Luke reappears and approaches Chas.

Luke wants to take Chas out, but she declines the offer - letting him believe there's another guy in her life. Cameron then wants to talk to her, but she tells him it's not the place and he follows her into the cellar as she changes a barrel. Chas insists there is nothing to talk about, but Cameron makes it clear that neither of them can deny their feelings - leaving Chas in complete turmoil and unable to deny that she wants the same thing...

Meanwhile, Sandy starts to tell Laurel about wanting to go into a home, but Ashley panics when it sounds like he might be about to spill the beans about what's been going on. Laurel is then floored when Sandy says that he wants to go into full time care. Later, Sandy tells Ashley that he did this for Laurel and the kids, not for him.

Elsewhere, Lisa's worried when she discovers that Zak hasn't been for any tests, while Katie is out riding and discovers that Megan has fenced off the bridle way - but Declan fails to support her when she takes issue with this.

Chas and Cameron kiss passionately in The Woolpack's cellar, tearing at each other's clothes. Afterwards they are consumed with guilt as they get dressed and quickly agree a cover story about changing the barrel. Back in the bar, Cameron feels guilty when Debbie insists that she owes him and never meant to take him for granted. Chas pleads with Cameron that they can't hurt Debbie and insists it must never happen again.

Later, Diane comforts Chas in the back room, thinking that she's upset about Luke. Soon afterwards, Cameron and Chas meet secretly at the pavilion. Chas is left with a dilemma when Cameron doesn't think they can leave things like this and she realises he is suggesting an affair…

Meanwhile, Laurel is defensive when Brenda thinks that putting Sandy in a care home is like switching off life support. Sandy gets upset when Laurel tells him that the care home don't have any places at the moment, and he explains that he can't stay as it's too much of a strain on them.

Elsewhere, Megan tells Katie that Declan is broke, while Lisa is at the end of her tether with Zak

    Friday

Cameron plays the doting boyfriend with Debbie, but his mind is still on Chas. Debbie then heads off on a shopping trip with Charity, leaving Cameron looking after Sarah. Chas sees that he has a plan. After putting Sarah to bed, Cameron comes downstairs and Chas gives into temptation, kissing him passionately. They're nearly caught by Marlon and Cain, but are alerted when Marlon knocks some boxes over.

Later, Chas is sickened to realise the implications of what she's doing when Sarah shows her a picture she's drawn of her family. She covers when Marlon sees she's struggling, before telling Cameron they can't carry on and as far as she's concerned it never happened.

Meanwhile, Katie has spent the night at Gennie's after walking out on Declan. Megan is taken aback by how hurt Declan is, seeing the depth of his feelings for Katie. Later in The Woolpack, Declan apologises to Katie, desperate to win her back. Katie softens slightly, but is adamant that they can't be together unless they are a team.

Elsewhere, Jimmy seems troubled after a phone call, Amelia offers Jacob a biscuit and Ali is mortified that she can't read the packet to see if they contain nuts, Gennie insists that she's well enough to go back to work and is livid to discover Charity is getting praise for her 'secret' contact, while Cain swaps his crutches for a walking stick at the hospital.
