MONDAY
In the police interview room, Carla is daunted as the evidence mounts against her. She's asked to explain why her prints are on the whisky bottle and why the contract she signed is missing. Carla has no idea about the contract, but admits that she took the bottle off Peter the night Frank was killed. She had the bottle with her when she confronted him at the factory, but she left it there.
Back on the street, the police search the bookies' flat for the missing contract. Finding no trace of it, the police are frustrated and, without concrete proof, Carla's released on bail.
Over at the factory, Anne fumes as Michelle calls the girls in and takes control, claiming that with no contract Carla still owns 60% of the business and there's work to be done. When Carla then walks in, Anne's disgusted and demands to know where the contract is. A row breaks out and Michelle is forced to guide Carla away - the contract is safe and she knows who has it!
Elsewhere, Eileen is relieved when Paul finally agrees to talk to Doctor Carter about residential care for Lesley, Rita cancels plans for her engagement party when Karl increases the price for catering, while Kylie is furious when Brian confiscates the contents of Max's unhealthy lunchbox and then bills her for a school dinner.
Michelle reveals that she returned to the factory on the night of Frank's murder and stole the contract. Realising this puts Michelle at the scene of the crime when Frank died, Carla assures Michelle that the police won't find out if she destroys the contract. However, as Carla sets fire to the paperwork, Peter walks in and worries. Did she kill Frank to get her hands on the contract?
As Carla realises that Peter suspects her too, she breaks down - convinced the police are trying to pin this on her and she'd die in prison. Promising he won't let that happen, Peter decides to take matters into his own hands.
Meanwhile, the police come calling for Kevin when it's revealed that the brakes on Frank's car were faulty after going to the garage to have them fixed. Does this put Kevin in the frame?
Elsewhere, Rita is overwhelmed as Dennis surprises her with an engagement party at the Bistro, Lewis prepares to leave Weatherfield but Audrey rushes off after him and begs him to stay, Paul tells Eileen that he's switching to night shifts to care for Lesley in the day, while Simon kicks off when Peter comes to collect him from the pub - wanting to spend more time with Leanne.
Thursday
Carla is at Number 1 looking for Peter when they get the call to say that he has confessed to killing Frank. As Carla reels, fearing she's ruined Peter's life, Peter is questioned about his story. He claims that after leaving the Bistro he went to the factory, rowed with Frank then hit him with the whisky bottle. He adds that he left Frank unconscious, then went out and drunk himself senseless.
As the detectives go to verify Peter's story, news of his confession spreads. Leanne is angry that Peter could do this to his son and dreads telling Simon. But having cross-referenced his story, will the police charge Peter?
Meanwhile, Lewis has spent the night at Audrey's and neither has any regrets. But as Lewis wonders when they'll break the news that they're an item, Audrey suggests they keep their relationship secret for now while they have some fun.
Elsewhere, Kevin's relieved to hear he could be off the hook for Frank's murder, Kylie hands Max and Amy junk food at the school, while an exhausted Eileen struggles with Paul's new arrangement as he refuses to hear any more talk of care homes for Lesley.
Friday
As Peter appears in court charged with murder, he's remanded in custody. Struggling to make sense of it all, Carla visits Peter and is shocked to realise that Peter doesn't remember killing Frank but confessed as he thought he was saving her.
Back on the street, no-one has seen Anne. Worried, Sally calls at the house, where she finds a broken Anne going through Frank's belongings. Something is missing but Sally can't put her finger on it.
Leanne is also confused when she bumps into Howard, Peter's mentor from the support group. Howard reveals that Peter turned up at his house drunk on the night Frank was killed. Leanne reels, realising Peter has an alibi - he's innocent. Furious that he'd lie to save Carla at the expense of his son, will Leanne go to the police?
Elsewhere, Kylie scuffles with Brian after heading to the school gates armed with bags of chips, Nick agrees to give Lewis his job back at the Bistro, while Sunita is fed up with a less-than-attentive Dev.
With alarm bells ringing, Carla asks Peter plainly if he killed Frank. She's appalled as he admits that he can't say for sure and demands to know why he confessed. As Peter admits that he did it to save her, Carla's horrified - she didn't kill Frank and now he's thrown his life away. But Peter's in luck - with Stella having talked sense into her, Leanne goes to the police station to reveal Peter's alibi. Will it be enough to get Peter out of jail?
At the same time, Sally consoles Anne - offering to accompany her to the funeral. However, she suddenly realises what's missing from Frank's personal effects - his watch. Could this be linked to the killer? Is the murderer still on the loose?
Meanwhile, as Kylie and Brian's feud continues, Brian threatens Kylie with taking Max out of school if her unruly behaviour continues. But refusing to back down, Kylie retorts that she'll take Max out of school herself. David's stunned.
Elsewhere, Sunita covers for Karl as he heads to the casino, while Lewis is desperate to prove to Audrey that he's sticking around for the right reasons.
