EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra says he was like an excited child filming stunt scenes for the show's Christmas special.
The soap star plays Masood Ahmed, who is set to have a dangerous confrontation with wife Zainab's villainous ex Yusef. Plot details are top secret but the bed and breakfast is set to burn down on Boxing Day and Nitin was in the fire scenes.
He revealed to Inside Soap magazine: "I was walking through it and standing in it! I was like a little kid - I got really excited.
"There were certain points where they'd bring in a stuntman. But most of the time we did it on our won, which was great."
But Nitin confessed it did get a little scary.
He said: "There were some quite dangerous scenes that we filmed.
"Before we started I was like 'Oh it'll be fine', but once I was in the thick of things, I thought 'Hmmm it's really hot in here'."

    Monday

t's the day of Ian and Mandy's wedding, and a guilty Ricky finally tells Pat that something happened between him and Mandy. Keen to deal with the situation, Pat visits Mandy and warns her to stay away from Ricky. Pat then gives Mandy some food for thought as she tells her that it's no fun being married to someone who you don't love. Later, Ian arrives at the register office but Mandy doesn't turn up - instead she's still at home, staring at her wedding dress.

In the end, Ian has to accept that Mandy isn't coming, so he returns home to confront her. Mandy urges Ian to confess that their planned wedding was just a way for him to get back at Jane, but he insists that he does love her and wants to marry her. Mandy still refuses to tie the knot with Ian, so he heads off to The Vic without her. Later, Mandy arrives wearing her wedding dress and her ring, telling Ian that she loves him too.

Meanwhile, Yusef leaves Zainab stunned by announcing that they are flying out to Karachi today. Desperate to get help before it's too late, Zainab makes an excuse to leave the house and visits Masood. However, an angry Masood slams the door in her face. When Yusef realises that Zainab is disobeying him again, he tells her that they're leaving immediately and takes her to the airport.

Determined that she doesn't want to leave the country with Yusef, Zainab spots an opportunity at the airport when she sees a passing cleaner - dropping her passport into his bin. When they reach the check-in desk, Zainab pretends to be surprised that her passport is missing. An unhappy Yusef has to return home with Zainab, vowing that he'll order a new passport straight away. Later, when Zainab comes downstairs following a bath, she's stunned to discover that Kamil is nowhere to be seen - Yusef has taken him away from her.

    Tuesday

Zainab is horrified when Yusef refuses to tell her where Kamil is. Yusef declares that she won't be reunited with her son until she learns to become a more obedient wife. When Tamwar asks where Kamil is, Zainab lies that he is currently with Bushra. Later, when Masood comes over to take Kamil out, he's furious to discover that his son is not there, and he fears that Zainab is trying to stop him from spending time with the youngster before the move to Pakistan.

Masood ends up calling the police over the situation, so Yusef has to give the officers Kamil's real whereabouts - making sure that Zainab doesn't see the address he gives them. The police soon tell Masood that Kamil is safe and they can't get involved in domestic disputes. As Masood starts making plans to snatch Kamil from Bushra's house, Zainab begs Yusef to tell her where Kamil is.

Meanwhile, Kat and Alfie are concerned over Jean as she prepares to visit the benefit fraud office. Jean refuses their advice and vows to attend the appointment alone. At the interview, Jean confesses that she is fighting the return of her depression, before travelling home without a coat despite the cold weather. When Max spots this, he tells Kat that Jean could be having a bi-polar episode - leaving Kat concerned.

Elsewhere, Syed agrees when Amira suggests they should pretend to be a married couple and wear their old wedding rings for their upcoming meeting with potential investors in their business; Ricky worries that Mandy will tell Bianca about the night they spent together once Bianca is released from prison, so he convinces Ian to take Mandy and Bobby away on holiday; Jane suggests to Masood that they should spend Christmas apart; while Tyler gives Whitney a toy penguin as a present and later discovers that there is a hidden camera inside as they are secret devices for spying on your nanny.

    Thursday

Masood finally finds Zainab's note in which she asked for his help. He initially finds it hard to be sympathetic, but Denise is reminded of her own abusive relationship and convinces Masood that Zainab needs their help. Denise puts a plan into action by visiting Zainab and pretending that she needs help in the Minute Mart, so Yusef agrees to let her go for an hour. When Zainab arrives at the shop, she finds Masood waiting for her. Frustrated when he realises that his ex-wife doesn't know where Kamil is, Masood grabs Zainab - causing her clothes to slip and reveal nasty bruising on her body.

A desperate Zainab declares that she doesn't want to go back to evil Yusef, but Masood tells her that they need to put Kamil's safety first. To ensure that Yusef doesn't realise anything is amiss, Zainab must go back for the sake of their son. Back at the house, Zainab overhears Yusef agree to bring Kamil back this afternoon, so she sends Masood a text from Tamwar's phone to tell him. Masood and Denise then begin to plan how they can rescue both Zainab and Kamil.

Meanwhile, Jean's mental state takes a turn for the worse when she becomes convinced that Shenice is an angel sent to her from Stacey to save her from the benefit fraud officers. Still in her pyjamas, Jean tries to take Shenice out ice skating against her will. Realising something is wrong, Shenice runs back home as soon as she gets a chance. Back at The Vic, Alfie thinks that he and Kat need some help with Jean, so he calls her doctor - thinking that Jean needs to be in hospital at the moment. Jean's nurse arrives while Alfie has taken Shenice out to the school's Christmas play, so Kat goes against Alfie's wishes by insisting that Jean should stay at The Vic with her family over Christmas.

Elsewhere, Bianca is released from prison and turns up just in time to see Tiffany perform in the Christmas play, while Tyler overhears Whitney slating him on the penguin cam.

    Friday

Denise spots Yusef arriving at Zainab's house with a pram and tells Masood that he must have brought Kamil back as promised. However, Zainab is left disappointed when it turns out that Yusef has merely brought home a pram-load of Kamil's clothes to pack - and he warns Zainab that he cannot be manipulated. Masood has snuck into the house to rescue both Zainab and Kamil, but when Zainab sees him, she explains that she doesn't have Kamil and he must leave immediately.

Later, Yusef receives a phone call and writes down an address on a notepad, which Afia spots. He then tells Zainab that she can see Kamil as long as she comes with him immediately. Shortly afterwards, Masood notices that Zainab's house is dark, so he goes to the Argee Bhajee to ask Tamwar what's going on. Tamwar explains that Zainab has gone to see Kamil, and Afia soon reveals what the address on Yusef's notepad was. Masood and Denise then dash off to find Zainab and Kamil - can they do so in time?

Meanwhile, Alfie is unhappy when he sees that Jean is still at The Vic and not in hospital. He soon accuses Kat of distracting herself with Jean's problems so that they don't have to discuss their own issues. Later, Jean's erratic behaviour continues as she starts handing out Kat and Alfie's cash on the street, before heading over to the R&R where she tries to make a move on Michael. A concerned Michael brings her back to The Vic.

Elsewhere, Bianca's family celebrate her return - but Ricky decides to keep quiet about his infidelity for now.

EastEnders' Zainab Masood desperately tries to escape Yusef's clutches next week after growing increasingly distressed by his abusive behaviour.

Yusef (Ace Bhatti) realises that Zainab is slipping away from him in upcoming episodes, so he steps up his control by suddenly announcing that they are leaving for Karachi immediately.

Stunned by Yusef's plans, Zainab panics and goes to Masood (Nitin Ganatra) for help - but he refuses to listen to her and slams the door in her face.

Later, at the airport, Zainab (Nina Wadia) puts Plan B into action as she discreetly slips her passport into a cleaner's bin - before feigning surprise at the check-in desk when it's missing.

When an unhappy Yusef is forced to return home with Zainab, he vows to order a new passport straight away - before pulling his cruellest stunt yet by taking Kamil away from her.

Zainab is horrified when Yusef declares that he won't reveal Kamil's whereabouts until she is a more obedient wife - taking his manipulation to new heights.

When Masood discovers that Kamil is no longer at the house, he fears that Zainab is trying to block his access to the youngster. However, it's not long until he discovers Yusef's evil ways. Can he find a way to save both Zainab and Kamil?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday, December 19 at 8pm and Tuesday, December 20 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

EastEnders' Jean Slater faces a sad struggle next week as her mental state takes a turn for the worse.

Jean (Gillian Wright) remains horrified at being wrongly branded a benefit fraudster in the coming days and begins to behave strangely, sparking concern from Kat and Alfie.

After Jean has been for an appointment at the benefit fraud office, she returns home without wearing a coat despite the cold weather - which the Moons realise is a worrying sign.

Jean later becomes convinced that Shenice (Lily Harvey) is an angel sent from Stacey to save her from the authorities. Still in her pyjamas, Jean tries to take Shenice out ice-skating - but the youngster realises something is wrong and rushes home at the first opportunity.

When the Moons learn how much Jean is struggling, Alfie (Shane Richie) suggests that she needs to be at the hospital as they can't cope with her bipolar episode alone.

However, Kat (Jessie Wallace) remains determined that Jean should be at home for Christmas and tries to play down Alfie's concerns.

With Kat and Alfie's marital problems also coming to the fore once again, can they all defy the odds and have a happy Christmas?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, December 20 and Thursday, December 22 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

EastEnders star Diane Parish has revealed that she is delighted over her role in this year's Christmas episodes.

The actress's character Denise Fox returns to the forefront of the soap next week as she becomes embroiled in the ongoing Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) storyline.

When Denise discovers Yusef's abuse of her friend Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia), she joins forces with Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) in an attempt to rescue her.

Parish told BBC Breakfast today: "That's fantastic, because we get to move around the Square and be involved in all of the characters' different situations. The fact that Denise is a very good friend of Zainab's, that kicks her into another mode.

"It's usually Denise that's on the wrong side of the trouble! But this time, she sort of comes to the rescue a little bit with Zainab. And then by Christmas, she starts having her problems again!"

Discussing Denise's involvement in Zainab's story, she continued: "You can still have the angst - it's just on someone else's behalf. Sometimes it's just a different angle of taking your story. There's so many different textures to this show and so many different ways to be involved. And being involved in Christmas is very, very exciting. It's going to be a great one, actually."

Denise is also expected to take centre stage in her own right over the festive period as Phil Mitchell's ongoing stalker drama forces her to revisit her past.

Asked whether there is a competition between the soaps at Christmas, Parish replied: "Oh, of course there is - it wouldn't be any fun if there wasn't a competition, and it's great.

"I mean, I hope people do tune in. You'll be missing out if you don't! It's a fantastic couple of episodes that we've got this Christmas, and the run-up to Christmas as well next week."

EastEnders, Denise Fox also has a dramatic Christmas ahead as she finds out the truth about Kevin Wicks's death.

As Christmas Day dawns at the B&B, Denise's sister Kim (Tameka Empson) is excited when she spots a mysterious present underneath the tree and assumes that it's for her.

The siblings soon end up fighting over the gift, until Kim finally gives in and accepts that it's for Denise (Diane Parish).

Inside the package, the sisters find a USB stick containing a recording of Phil confessing to his role in Kevin's death. How will Denise react when she discovers the truth? And who has sent the damning evidence to her?
