Today we had a mini monsoon in Edinburgh. Rained for a couple of hours and roads get flooded. Got good news everyone my request to have my hours increased was approved on Wednesday as from 15 August I will be working full-time 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. first time in 13 years I have worked full-time. I feel a Dolly Parton sing song coming on.

Thanks to Vicky for my great new banner xxx

    Fantastic Kath, brilliant news!

I am heading off to the West Highland Way for a few days, not doing it all, just a couple of sections. Doing the MoonWalk in Edinburgh really got me in the way of walking and it is supposed to be good for stress. Son number one is in Africa doing voluntary work, and son number two is getting wet at T in the Park so....FREEDOM! Went out last night, and the house was still tidy when I got back in! And the strawberries were still in the fridge... really weird!

I hope you'll all be watching the history-making first race at Ascot this afternoon. It's almost 250 years since jockeys began wearing coloured silks to make them easily identifiable during the melee of a horse race, and in all that time the designs sported by riders have hardly changed – until now.

In an effort to bring jockeys' attire into the 21st century, Racing for Change – an initiative set up to broaden the appeal of the sport – has commissioned a series of revolutionary new designs from BA (Hons) Graphic Design students studying at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. The winning silks will be on show for the first time in the first race at Ascot this afternoon.

Oh, did I mention, my son was the project director for this?

It would seem that results are out via email today. I assumed it was alphabetical so was prepared for quite a wait. Saw someone on my facebook with surname beginning with P had her results, so I think fine, won't be long then. Now someone with surname starting with T has hers and there's no sign of mine Checked email and the results portal thing and nothing. Starting to wonder if S has been taken out of the alphabet

fingers crossed for me everyone.. found out one of the girls on my team is taking a year out and spoke to my boss about me working her role for that year while living in Germany.. he has to check if I can get a Germany manager to be my HR manager (something to do with tax laws, can't work for Ireland in Germany) and if yes, the job is mine.. This will be good for me as I will still have a job, can learn the language and after the year apply for a full time job with the same company I am currently in.
