A spokeswoman for Amanda Holden has confirmed that the Britain's Got Talent judge has lost the baby boy she was expecting with husband Chris Hughes.

Holden, who was seven-months pregnant, suffered a miscarriage on Tuesday at West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth, west London. The baby was reportedly stillborn following complications.

Agent Alison Griffin said: "They are utterly devastated.

"Amanda had been closely monitored throughout her pregnancy and it is not yet known what went wrong.

"Both Chris and Amanda would like to thank the midwives and staff at The Queen Mary Maternity unit at West Middlesex Hospital Isleworth for their tremendous support."

Holden - mum to 5-year-old Lexi - only announced the pregnancy last month after admitting to suffering a previous miscarriage last year.

Celebrity condolences have already started appearing on Twitter. Myleene Klass, who is expecting, said: "My sweetheart. I'm so very sorry. Please God, watch over your family and your little angel in heaven. X"

Fellow pregnant star Emma Bunton wrote: "Absolutely devastated for @Amanda_Holden and chris. Thinking of them and sending our prayers at this very sad time."

Poor Amanda and Chris. They must be utterly devasted. I know it's no consolation for any woman to suffer a miscarriage at any stages of pregnancy but to loose the a child at this stage in pregancy is unbearable to think about.

Simon Cowell has reportedly asked that more Britain's Got Talent auditions be held.

The Daily Star claims that Cowell is unhappy with the level of talent chosen by the new judging panel, consisting of Amanda Holden, David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre.

However, the 51-year-old, who will return to the panel for the live finals, has allegedly planned to shake things up by allowing more acts to audition via YouTube.

"Cowell's announcement is going to turn the show on its head," a source told the paper. "Simon thinks this will be an exciting new dimension for the show for the younger generation."

Other insiders have insisted that the music mogul is "perfectly happy" with the acts which have been put through by the judges.

Britain's Got Talent will return to ITV later in the spring.

Declan Donnelly has said Britain's Got Talent is more exciting now that the hit TV show has some new judges.

Speaking at the RTS Awards, Dec and co-host Ant McPartlin said they had really enjoyed this year's auditions.

And Dec revealed that new panellists Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff were letting more interesting acts through. The pair have replaced Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan as judges alongside Amanda Holden.

Dec said: "Famously comedians and magicians never really got much of a look in with Piers and Simon because neither of them have much of a sense of humour.

"So now with two new judges who do, comedians and magicians and variety acts finally have more of a chance.

"Dogs have less of a chance because Simon's gone. We all know he loves a dog. So they have less of a chance.

"But it's new and it's fresh and it's quite exciting and we're looking forward to getting the series under way and seeing what everybody makes of it."

Ant admitted the audition process was so crazy he hadn't spotted any potential winners yet. He said: "They all kind of blur into one because it's so manic on those audition days.

"We see so many people I couldn't single anybody out that I think is a winner or a finalist at the moment. But we had a hell of lot of fun and the new judges are great."

The presenting duo picked up the best entertainment performance gong at the RTS ceremony for their work on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

ITV has confirmed that Britain's Got Talent will return to ITV1 on Saturday, April 16.

The date of the fifth series launch of the reality talent show was revealed today on the official Twitter feed of the broadcaster's press centre.

Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff have been added to the panel of this year's show, following the departure of Piers Morgan from the show and absence of Simon Cowell from the earlier phases.

They join Amanda Holden, who has retained her place on the show.

Host Ant and Dec have claimed that the audition phases have been "a lot fresher and much more exciting" without Morgan and Cowell.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that a new online round had been added to the contest, with producers picking 20 acts from a shortlist of 50 to go through to the live shows.
