Me to Katy. If I wasn't snowed in I'd be down there offering to help sweat the flu out of him. 1st song awesome 2nd song not his best but still far better than other acts in the show. Rebecca stole the show tonight. bottom two have to be Cher and One Direction. Cher to go.

I'm tired of Cher too. She's acting like a spoilt brat throwing a tantrum because people don't recognise her talent. I actually thought One Direction were good last night! I wish they would give Rebecca a routine where she could dance. Yes she has a brilliant voice but I want to see her move!!! Cher to be sent home.

Mary completely out sung Cher in the sing off I did think Dannii would save her and maybe take it to deadlock

It should be 3 in the final not 4

I do think the show is fixed more and more this year

I hope Matt wins with Rebecca second as there as the only talented ones left

X Factor viewers have complained about the introduction of a sing-off in last night's semi-final, which allowed the judges to have the final say over who was kicked off the programme.

In previous series the final stages of the competition have been decided solely by public vote, but yesterday Cher Lloyd and Mary Byrne were given the chance to fight for survival with a sing-off.

The decision of Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole to save Lloyd over the Tesco checkout worker sparked anger on the DS forums and Twitter, where fans complained that the judges' vote had been introduced deliberately to save Lloyd.

On the Saturday live show host Dermot O'Leary implied that it would be the viewers deciding who went home, stating: "The vote is now open, and will close in tomorrow night's result show. Now it's all in your hands. It's your votes and your votes alone that can get your act safely through to the final."

There were also listings on the official X Factor website, which claimed that "the act with the fewest votes" would leave the show, and Louis Walsh stated in a radio interview last week that it would be down to the public vote.

An X Factor spokesperson denied any allegations of a fix, claiming that the plans for a semi-final sing-off came into place a few weeks ago. The show rep told DS: "As the show evolves there are always changes to format. This decision was made weeks ago."

A show source added: "This series has seen double eliminations, wildcards and four finalists, as well as the introduction of an audience to auditions last year. In seven years the format should be updated to keep it fresh."

Meanwhile, the Daily Star is reporting that it was fixed for Cher Lloyd to be sent through to the final because Simon Cowell confirmed plans for a Cheryl Cole and Lloyd duet on Saturday's Xtra Factor.

Course it was fixed. It's been fixed since week one. I was kind of hoping that Dannii would have saved Mary and put it too deadlock because Cher would have went. I can only think she is thinking tactically because Mary was a bigger threat to Matt than Cher is. Cher is the weakest of the acts with being in the sing-off twice her best chance is beating One Direction into third place as she has no chance of winning against Matt or Rebecca. It's a shame Mary went but she will have a number 1 selling album before Mini Me has she will be dumped once the competition is over.

X FACTOR brat Cher Lloyd swept into the finals last night - after bosses controversially ignored the public's vote.
For the first time in the show's history, judges instead of viewers had the last word on the semi-final performances - sparking accusations of a fix.

Before the shock change in procedure, 17-year-old Cher had been tipped for the boot after alienating fans with her strops.

But the public vote was only allowed to decide the bottom two - when a sing-off allowed judges to whisk Cher through instead of people's favourite Mary Byrne.

That was despite show host Dermot O'Leary telling viewers on Saturday's episode: "Your votes and your votes alone can get your favourite act safely through to the final."

Hundreds of furious fans flooded the Sun switchboard and internet forums to blast the move.

And many have vowed to complain to telly watchdog Ofcom about the shambles.

Pub owner Vivian Seymour, 55, from Chichester, West Sussex, said: "I think it's a fix. Cher must have finished bottom of the public vote and they decided to have a sing-off so they could save her. It's not right."

Reader Gemma Seymour, 30, a student from Fulham, West London, said: "I think it's diabolical. I feel my vote for Mary this week has been totally wasted. It's very suspicious.

"Mary might not be the person who is going to sell them four million albums, but it's not fair."

On the show's Facebook page, Dawn Wilkes fumed: "Why did the pre-show trails and the ITV listing say the act with the least votes would be leaving?"

At no point last night were viewers told there had been a change to the format of past years - when only the public voted in deciding who made the final show.

But contestants were told earlier yesterday about the switch, which meant a semi-final sing-off for the first time.

Last night a source on the ITV1 hit said: "As the show evolves there are always changes to format." And its spokeswoman insisted the move was NOT made after public votes came in.

She said: "This decision was made weeks ago."

Stunned Cher sobbed on the results show last night after she found herself in the bottom two along with Mary, 50.

But after a tearful rendition of Britney Spears' Everytime in the sing-off, judges put her through to join Rebecca Ferguson, 24, Matt Cardle, 27, and boyband One Direction in next week's final.

She got nods from mentor Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell - who cast his deciding vote despite the studio audience chanting "Mary, Mary" in support of the Tesco worker.

Only Louis Walsh voted for his act Mary to go through. After getting the boot, the gracious Dubliner - who sang It's A Man's Man's Man's World in the sing-off - received a standing ovation from the judges.

Later on ITV2's The Xtra Factor, she remarked how incredible it was that she was 51 and appearing in the X Factor semi-finals, adding: "How many women would get that chance?"

Cher told The Xtra Factor she had been certain she would be going. She said: "I was waiting backstage and I was thinking, 'How am I going to be knowing that I have to go home?' "

Earlier, Cher had shocked viewers on Saturday's show by talking back to Dannii, 39, during the judging and rolling her eyes at Louis's opinion.

Meanwhile fellow finalists are not pleased with the result - with sources saying they believe the teen's success has already "completely gone to her head" And her diva-style tantrums have already left fellow finalist Rebecca, 24, in tears.

She has become so distressed by Cher's behaviour that she has complained to show boss Simon Cowell, 51, and to Cheryl, 27.

Rebecca's ex-boyfriend Karl Dures, 25, has revealed: "Her tantrums have been bothering all the other acts.

"Becky says Cher has turned into a 'right little 'mare'. She's been going nuts because of her. She felt she had to speak to Simon and Cheryl as things were getting out of hand."

But a show source said last night: "Cher is a teenager and young for her age and doesn't always know how she comes across."
