The five celebrities taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special have been revealed.

Following on from the announcements that The Rt Hon Vince Cable MP and Torchwood's John Barrowman would be taking part, three final names have been added to the bill.

Ex-This Morning host Fern Britton will be dancing with Matthew Cutler, EastEnders icon June Brown will partner Vincent Simone and comedian Ronni Ancona is teamed up with Anton Du Beke.

Barrowman will hit the dancefloor with Kristina Rihanoff, while Cable is partnered by Erin Boag.

All five celebrities will perform different dances for the Strictly judges and studio audience in the hope of winning a new Christmas Special trophy.

Speaking about her decision to sign up for the reality show, Britton said: "Strictly Come Dancing is my family's favourite programme. I am thrilled to be included in the Christmas line up.

"Of course I shall be nervous but I am trying to dilute that with the thought of the fun involved. I am not a trained dancer and only wish to do as well as I can for my professional partner and the Christmas viewers. Oh and I am really looking forward to the spray tan, false eyelashes and sequins!"

Ancona joked: "It's a wonderful opportunity to finally have confirmed that I don't actually have two left feet... Just two right ones."

Cable said: "I am delighted to be taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special. Strictly has always been a secret, or not so secret, passion of mine. I hope that by taking part in the show I can inspire others to get up and do something they have always wanted to have a go at."

BBC head of entertainment and events Katie Taylor added: "Building on the success of the current series of Strictly - that has taken us literally to new heights - I am very excited that this year five fresh celebrities are prepared to don their dancing shoes, show us the cut of their cha cha chas and delight BBC One viewers for Christmas."

Why is Len so down on Kara? Why did he keep going on about her doing a Fox Trot, wasn't it an American Smooth??

I feel the same. It wasn't Kara's fault. If anyone is to blame it is the professional. Again she did a superb dance. If she doesn't wint it I will be thoroughly surprised.

IMO Len can be more harsh than Craig. I find Craig's put-downs funny, but not Len's. I want Kara to win

Felicity Kendal has become the seventh celebrity to be voted out of this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The Good Life actress and professional partner Vincent Simone landed at the bottom of the public vote alongside Patsy Kensit and Robin Windsor, despite having secured her highest score yet for their American smooth in last night's Blackpool Tower Ballroom special.

Upon hearing that she had finished in the bottom two for the third time, Kendal rested her head against Simone's shoulder, as he called out in protest.

When asked to comment on the result, the 64-year-old stated: "It's been such an amazing thing. I'm here because of [Vincent], he's just phenomenal, he's just a genius."

She then looked around at the historic ballroom and added: "What a way to go, It's fantastic. This is the place to go home from."

Host Tess Daly then confirmed that Kendal had received the fewest amount of viewer votes, prompting a standing ovation from the entire venue and a tearful, consolatory embrace from Kensit.

"It's [been] the luckiest time of my life," she declared. "This has been the most extraordinary journey, I wouldn't have missed a second of it."

Asked to weigh in on the public's decision, judge Alesha Dixon stated: "I actually think Felicity had one of her better nights, but unfortunately it's the nature of the beast and it's the way the cookie crumbles."

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
