If the foot is black it will probably need to be amputated. It means that the tissue has died.

Uhh yeah
We had a big chat the other night about his big chat with my best firned in work, and how I came up and she made him realise how much of an idiot he had been by giving me the cold shoulder and just walking away with no exlanation.
So I gave him a lift home and he apologised to me, and then explained about his feelings for me and all that kind of stuff and then Transformers came up so we decided to go and see ti tongiht as neither of us had seen it yet.
I had a really really good night tonight
Di M I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandads foot, I hope they get to him in time.. though he shouldn't still be waiting anyways![]()

thanks to vicky for making the banna!
Best of luck for him that they can save as much of his foot/toes as possible. It should never have come this far![]()
thanksi know they take so long not doing anything which is surely just letting it get worse!
there are so many other people on his ward as well with the same thing and they are just being left as well! one of the other people is black all up his leg and apparently when he came in it was only his foot but cos theyve left it so long its got worse! i cant believe the hospital think its alright to let that happen!

thanksi definitely think my mums gonna complain after its all done. its deteriorated (sp?) a lot in about 2 weeks as the nurses that came to the house to change the bandages and stuff wouldnt listen to my gran when she said it was getting worse (one even said its normal to do that before it gets better!
). i hope they can save as much of it too but they need to get it sorted quickly, when he went into hospital this time they said it was urgent yet left him almost a week before they did anything! and all they could say when we asked about it was that 'its a shame it didnt get done today'. the doctors/nurses never explain anything to my grandad either so my mums been reading whats been happening and looking up all the stuff she doesnt understand, which according to the results loads of things should have been done, and the test they only just did should have been done when he went in the first time about 2 months ago!

Why don't you transfer him to another hospital? I used to go into a grotty hospital which is well known in the area for having MRSA, rude nurses and filthy wards. Even my mum hates going there. I finally got my care transferrered to a hospital at Hull which is brilliant. The doctors know what they're talking about and it's clean.
I don't know how easy it is to do as my GP did it for me.
im not sure how easy that is to do tbh. the hospital that hes in atm is one of the biggest (or possibly the biggest) in our area/county. and its apparently in the top 40 in the country (and if thats true i dread to think what the others are like!). my mum wanted to transfer him to go private cos my dad can get it discount with his insurance at work but my grandad didnt want to so i dunno if hed want to move to another hospital either. when i was in hospital (the same one) and my parents wanted to get my transferred to the private hospital cos my dad could get it free for me, i had to get my doctor at the hospital to sign me off even though he would be the same doctor i would be seeing at the other one and conveniently (sp?) he was never around to do it. so yeh dunno how we would go about doing that tbh

went and sorted out our sky subscription today so that we can have broadband and stuff in our new house when we move down there, so thats all sorted but cant believe how long it takes to install everything!
then went to see my grandad. the results of his scan came back today and the doctor said that he would come and talk to my grandad while we were there so that my grandad knew what was going on cos he cant normally hear them properly. but it was gone visiting time and he hadnt come so the nurse was trying to chuck us out and we were trying to explain about the doctor coming and she was shouting at us saying that he wouldnt have said that and that he would have meant that he would come to speak to my grandad by himself. luckily the doctor turned up then but he would only let my mum and my gran stay there so me and my sis had to wait outside. according to my mum, although atm its only really the toes that are dead, cos it happened so quickly if they amputated just the toes theres a 90% chance that he will need to have his foot/leg amputated anyway in the near future so my grandad has to decide whether he wants to risk just having the toes off and probably having to have another operation in a few weeks or amputate the leg now without having the chance of trying to save it. my mum thinks he should have the leg amputated straight away as she doesnt want him to have to go through more than one operation in such a short amount of time, my gran thinks he should only have the toes off as he might be able to save his leg, and i dunno what my grandad wants, i think he has dealt with the fact it might end up being the worst scenario anyway. the man in the bed opposite him had two of his toes off a few weeks ago and today he had two more off cos it had spread and his foot is now starting to go black too. so if thats gonna happen to my grandad as well then it might be best to amputate the whole lot at once but then it might not and then youve taken the leg off for no reason so i dunno
